a little detail i’ve noticed in this episode, weiss physically PULLS blake from going over the edge. it lead me to believe that she was super close to just jumping down there and going after yang
So now I will say this: Go back to the intro of this volume, where they all fell. Yang was the furthest down out of anyone. Just like in V3 when Pyrrha broke away from the team first.
While I agree this highlights a problem some companys are having at the current time they put certan canon things in other media that fans just really dont get into for most. Its cool in theory and nice for big fans but can confuse people when important things are put in there atleast RWBY has avoided doing that.
@@johnoden5932 For the most part they have avoided doing that but I'm not gonna lie, some info about characters that wasn't in the show explicitly was put into Amity Arena instead (such as Watts having no Semblance). Something about the way Cinder says "You deserve this," makes me think she's planning to betray Watts, like using the staff to close the portals and leave Watts to crash. Notice that she didn't say Watts was "worthy."
Blake was willing to drop herself down to get Yang not knowing if she'd survive or not, if Weiss didn't pull her back. Only Yang was on her mind in that moment. Blake truly loves Yang and seeing her devastated like that pained me...
They got rid of what made her stronger because they couldn’t let her go. Pietro’s not gonna be happy. He already thought she was dead and now they have to tell him she had a body and that she still died
@@Jordan-gp3mj Well if Penny stepped in the portal she would've survived but Winter would have died killed by Ironwood... plus Winter is now able to help all of the refugees in Vacuo with her maiden powers, preventing who knows how many victims (possibly all of them), so at the end of the day it was one life sacrificed for many others.
Well, that was a great episode. I feel that the season overall was very entertaining and well executed IMO. Can’t wait for the final reaction next week and season 9. Also RIP Bill.
It's quite interesting that you caught Ironwood's tear down his face when he's about to face-off against his former Right-handed soldier, Winter. Makes it even more tragic for the both of them knowing that only one of them can make it out alive before Atlas crash. And to point out why Ruby's team couldn't rescue Yang: 1) It was in slow motion for dramatic effect, given that the sneak attack on Ruby could have happened in 3-5 seconds 2) Yang was the first one to notice Neo attempting to slash Ruby, thus she reacted faster before Blake and Weiss could realize 3) Prior to the attack, Yang's momentum along with Neo's slash already flew her over the edge (This is before Blake started running after her to catch her) 4) Weiss had to stop Blake from jumping after her (since Yang is already out of reach) 5) Ruby was already on the ground by the time Blake ran past her, and most likely, Neo would have attacked her again had she went after Yang. 6) Had this happen in real-time, only Blake would have been the quickest one to attempt to save Yang (since Weiss just realized what happened and Ruby got knocked down)
"You sneaky sneaky man". yep soo sneaky that Ambrosius. Telling the kids "i give you exactly what you ask for and i dont wanna hear any complains if it is not what you want." beforehand. Nope this one is Entirely Weiss Fault.
-Chapter 13: Worthy RWBY quote of the chapter _“Sometimes, if you want to win, you simply can’t do it alone.” (Cinder)_ We all knew things would go really bad after seeing Cinder in the end of the previous chapter, but this… -The Last Question Cinder’s demeanor has gone through quite the change from her previous one, opting to a softer persona. Likely she is taking Watts’ advice to heart and dropping her arrogant attitude enough to where she apologized to Neo, not forcing away the Relic when Neo resisted in giving it to her and instead gave a pleading expression, and giving both her and Watts what they desire (Neo gets Ruby; Watts gets Atlas). It goes back to what Salem had told her in Volume 5 when Cinder desired to obtain what they wanted through force. _”Never underestimate the usefulness of others.”_ Jinn’s expression to the third question to Cinder goes back to _Aladdin_ where when the Genie was under someone else’ control, he had no choice but to grant the wish. Jinn didn’t like the question (she seem quite fond of Ruby and the team) from Cinder, but she could not refuse to answer her, thus her resignation. It seemed odd that Watts didn’t bring up the fact that Salem wanted Ruby alive and that Cinder is using Neo to bypass that order, but perhaps he simply doesn’t care about all of that. Cinder seeing Emerald there was a surprise to her, but seemed only mildly. But regardless, it shows the truth of the old axiom. Knowledge is power… And with that knowledge, Cinder, Watts and Neo took control over Atlas’ Academy, giving the worse person in this situation incredible power (until Atlas falls, unless he finds a way around that). All that was let was for her and Neo to infiltrate the crowd of Mantle/Atlas and find the Winter Maiden and let Neo deal with Ruby. Another smart move from Cinder was that, rather that hunting down Penny directly, she targeted the team, knowing that Penny would eventually arrive. Also to note (probably unintentionally) is that with Neo dealing with Ruby, she wouldn’t have to worry about Ruby’s silver eyes as that is the only power that could stop her. But she hasn’t completely changed as she went about to gloat to let them know that she had used the Relic for the last question.
-Fall Okay, at first, I was complete shocked that Yang was the one to be knocked out into the abyss. But after a moment, I thought that this is what may be needed to bring Raven back into the scene, as her semblance can find Yang anywhere. It would be a matter of finding Raven first and convincing her to finding her. And then you would have wonder whether or not her semblance will work. But that’s a thought for later. Currently… A bit worried that now Penny no longer has her swords, she would have problems fighting, but that was quickly dismissed when she used her Maiden power to materialize her own, as the other Maidens had done (me; 🤪). But Cinder knows what to expect, more or less, in how to fight Penny (she faced her twice). And adding to her change in mindset of strategy and remembering how she became the Fall Usurper to begin with and now she is more of a lethal threat than ever before.
-Misplaced Loyalty A city beginning to fall, refugees are seeking salvation, and Harriet is still carrying out Ironwood’s order? If nothing else, she gets points for her tenacity, but there is no reason for her to do this. The entire purpose of threatening Mantle was to for Ironwood to get the Staff. But now that it is out of their reach and Mantle is being saved, there is no reason for her to continue on this. But, it is revealed during her conversation with Vine, her motivation is out of the pain and hurt over the loss of Clover and in it, she is mentally locked in that mindset of following orders just like he did. It didn’t help that she began picking up Ironwood’s mentality as well, seeing treachery in Vine even though he had no intention on fighting her (didn’t stop her from dropkicking him out of the ship) after Robyn intervened. And now a fight between Qrow and Harriet, which will probably be a really bad conflict giving both their feelings regarding the death of Clover. Harriet likely will fight without restraint and with intent to kill (vengeance) while Qrow will want to hold back so as to not repeat what happened to Clover. And all of this is happening while a bomb is ticking in the cargo bay. And with Watts in the driver seat… -Winter vs Ironwood This is a fight no one wants to happen. Worse part about this is that both are doing what they believe is right, yet they are forced to fight each other because of it. Even though Ironwood has shown worsening signs of instability (not entirely sure how I feel about what he did to Jacques), he still gave Winter the option of stepping aside instead of just attacking her outright. And when she refused, he shed a tear to show that he didn’t want to fight her, but felt like he had to. It would explain why, despite what happen in letting Jaune, Yang, and Ren go, he still let her be at his side. And on Winter’s side, she sees what Ironwood had become and has no choice, but to see him as a potential threat to the people of Atlas. The fact that he was determined to bomb Mantle to get his way is all she needs to see to stop him. He had hoped he was bluffing, but she knew him well enough to know that he wasn’t. Her words made it clear that his actions make him a threat to Atlas and that it was her duty to stop him; because in the end, that is what drives them both. Duty…
-Miscalculation It never fails… You can come up with the best plan, but that one tiny mistake just wrecks the entire plot. Such is the case with Oscar, Emerald, and Ren. It’s bad enough that entered into Vacuo during a sandstorm, with Grimm around the area and with no communication to anyone around and civilians that need to be protected (with more entering in unaware of the situation on the opposite side). But because of a slight error in their plan design that Ambrosius fashioned, they can’t go back to anyone else on the other side to find out what is going on. Literally a case of being of out of the frying pan and into the fire…
"Are we sure these things work?" = "I feel like hazing you" Given the amount of time between Jaune and Nora (I get the reason is to not spoil things, but still)
Every time I see a villain take a bite of an apple, I hear the CinemaSins guy's voice in my head, saying "Director has Watts take a bite of an apple, to make him look like more of an asshole."
I agree with you and disagree with Harriet.....Clover would not be down for genocide. He would've sided with Winter & Marrow. The Clover that Harriet is idolizing is not the flesh & blood man he was. He was a better man than that, and it's a disservice to his memory.
I kind of fear what RT has in store for Yang. I don't fully believe that she's dead (though it is a possibility), but surviving does not guarentee that she will still "be herself" - I mean, the OP kind of suggests that the thing she fell in might change her into a Grimm, in which case she might come back with a personnality change as an enemy.
Uh, they ALL fell in the OP and nothing suggests that Yang (or any of them) would turn into a Grimm. That can't happen; Salem is the sole exception since she's immortal and thus didn't get destroyed like everything else that falls into it. There's no way they're killed off Yang or make her an enemy. Neither would help the narrative.
@@theycallmebad Well, yeah, I just saw the After-credits scene. Though they kind of seems to be at the same place that Jinn's vision showed, no? Also, now, I need a moment to regain my conposure after Penny's death and the ending credits song (that was brutal).
“You’ll destroy the kingdom” what do you seriously think a bomb is going to do. If it’s powerful enough to destroy Mantle then it’s probably safe to say, some of it might hit Atlas.
Look at the scale of people down below when they fight its crazy, imagine if they were still shadow people lol this show means so much to me and yourself and many other fans, did you see the little sneak peak of V9 xxx
Cinder really went all out here, probably the best she's been since Volume 3. The sequence where Yang is certainly heartbreaking but really? Ruby and Weiss just stood there and did nothing? Kind of takes the wind out of it for me a bit.
It happened too quickly, and Ruby was still in shock and trying to process what just happened...for just about few seconds until Neo was on her ass. And Weiss had to stop Blake from jumping after her. And like yinisyang said, it was slowmotion, not actually 30+ seconds. I guarantee that if you were in similar situation you would be standing around trying to process what's happening around you. It's way too easy for you, the viewer, to go "come on, just do that, it's so obvious and easy blahdiblahblah"
@@theycallmebad Again why couldnt either Weiss or Ruby try to rescue her at the same time Blake threw Gambol Shroud at her? Im really not buying they were too "shocked" to do anything when Blake wasnt.
The incongruity in the subway bothers me. The portals were on the tracks and no one was hiding, but never mind, time for a funny! At least they didn't screw up the continuity in the early days, like the pratfall during initiation. Maybe the death of Jacques would hit harder if Ironwood hadn't murdered a councilman in the first chapter. Cinder monologues yet again, but this time it's for an actual purpose! More evidence that she's using her head for the first time since the fall of Beacon. Yang could've started shooting, but she needed momentum to fall, so in she charges. How does Neo oneshot her? It's not like she had to be anything less than fully conscious to be unable to reach Gambol Shroud; trying and failing instead of using her gauntlets to reach another platform or bridge would've been all the more tragic. We'll never know if Clover would've gone through with it, but I don't understand why bunnygirl is so commited to the 'principle' of mass murder. Weiss' words bite them in the butt... Does anyone else hear (Aang/Korra) Avatar music at 13:49?
I hope we are not in yet another case of the tired trope of "kill your gays" with this. Weiss should have been the one to fall if we are gonna pick a team member. She was a focus this whole volume and it would cement the themes and overall narrative of Atlas falling that the white princess fell into her "slumber".
This will be good for them. You're not a real warrior unless you can survive the death of a squadmate. If nothing else, maybe they'll understand what this fight is about. But RT probably won't keep Yang dead, so the lesson is probably wasted.
The fact that there’s a shimmer and then she suddenly disappears makes me doubt that she’s actually dead. But maybe the writers will actually surprise us this time
didn't the god of darkness bring ozma back for salem in that flashback in the lost fable episode.so maybe if they do bring Yang back it will probably be by the god of light some how after a while.either way hopefully yang is written off for a bit that way she doesnt become to stale because to me she is the least interesting out of team rwby so i want her to have some shine.
We still don't know if the void leads to death. Perhaps it a wormhole like from Gravity Falls and just keeps looping? Maybe its like a dimensional rift and it teleports the entered person to another place on the world or even another plane (dimension). We still don't have enough info.
Yang is 110% not dead. And I'm not sure about what you're on about with "she is the least interesting out of team rwby" since that's not the case at all.
@@theycallmebad Calling someone a homophobe just because they don't like a ship? That's pretty fucking childish. Yang/Blake is definitely pandering, they had a dramatic shift in their character interactions come volume 6. With no reasoning. Please don't defend poor writing just because its a ship you like. And don't just throw the homophobe word around, kay? It dilutes its meaning.
@@WolfanTerror The character relationships have been in the story bible since V1 and haven't changed. Barbara obliquely said as much on RWBY Rewind. It's not pandering, whatever it ends up as is the original intended canon.
@@Animaniac0451 even so, maybe the writers should be better at writing it, because holy hell, there was a massive shift in Yang and Blake goo goo eyeing each other out of no where and it put me off the ship entirely.
Seriously!?.. why didn't Ruby show any kind of emotion when Yang fell but she snaps over her stupid weapon getting knocked over. also.... why did she just stand still??, she could have at least tried to use that ability where she is able to go super fast to save Yang, BUT NOOOOOO!!, all she did was just stand there like a complete baka. oh my god, that scene made me so frustrated. This is exactly the reason why the Ultraman franchise is superior over RWBY.
12:23 Notice that Blake was *hanging halfway off of the platform,* and Weiss had to drag her back up.
Blake tried to throw herself down after Yang.
blake def would’ve jumped off if weiss wasn’t next to her

RWBY quote of the chapter
_“Sometimes, if you want to win, you simply can’t do it alone.” (Cinder)_
We all knew things would go really bad after seeing Cinder in the end of the previous chapter, but this…
-The Last Question
Cinder’s demeanor has gone through quite the change from her previous one, opting to a softer persona.
_”Never underestimate the usefulness of others.”_
Jinn’s expression to the third question to Cinder goes back to _Aladdin_ where when the Genie was under someone else’ control, he had no choice but to grant the wish. Jinn didn’t like the question (she seem quite fond of Ruby and the team) from Cinder, but she could not refuse to answer her, thus her resignation. @@yinisyang3419 Blake had time to at least attempt a rescue, why couldnt they?
@@spencermalley10 Change the bleeding record already, my god.
It'll be just like Beacon again!
One way ticket to Vacuo!
Penny, Weiss...you did this.
Oh it's a good day to be a Cinder fan...
And Best BAD Girl Hit Back HARD! (;]D,
Indeed!
Those exist? Wow, honestly didn't think anyone liked her
@@WolfanTerror It's because no one likes her that I think she's the best villain in the show.
If only they had someone who could summon or use glyphs
Every single thing Robyn ever does just makes things worse.
“You don’t understand. I believe nice things so the things I do are good.”
Are we sure she isn't the Bad Luck? 'Cause holy hell
Not really.
But maybe the writers will actually surprise us this time
The close up looks like what happens to Yang is what happened to Pyrrha...from Dust We are Made, and to Dust We Return. :`(
Ambrosius didn't say what would happen if one fell, just "do not fall." Maybe they end up on a tropical island. Who knows ?
@@dragonrune6800 So...like "Lost?" Or...Gilligan's Island? (;]D`
@@johnnygnoneeded Either works. ;D
didn't the god of darkness bring ozma back for salem in that flashback in the lost fable episode.so maybe if they do bring Yang back it will probably be by the god of light some how after a while.either way hopefully yang is written off for a bit that way she doesnt become to stale because to me she is the least interesting out of team rwby so i want her to have some shine.
If only this was truly the end of the pandership that is bumblebee. But sadly we all know that won't be the case....
Are you new to the channel 😂 it is our whims that they 'pander' to so we won't be sad
Take that negative shit elsewhere, homophobe. Yang/Blake isn't pandering. There's nothing sad about Yang clearly surviving and the two hitting it off.
