How do you keep deer away from pumpkins? I only do about 1/4 acre but just as they're getting ripe we get deer coming through and taking bites out of a lot of them.

Stupid question are you concerned with plastic breaking down and in fusing with your plants.

Thanks for the reminder on building the rows first. I have a simple mulch layer behind a walk behind tractor that I got last year and fought and fussed with. The black plastic sure made a huge difference on the onions, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and broccoli here in Alaska, and I want laying the mulch to be a lot less hassle. Pre-building the mounds will make it a snap.

Now I understand the concept of plastic mulch. Didn’t know there was an irrigation hose under there. Thought it was a dumb idea because the rain would just run off the plastic instead of going into the soil. Hope it works out. Thanks
