    Good video, cleared some things up. I'm 35 and not in school anymore, so the housing would be more expensive, but my GF and I would be splitting the costs. We currently earn around 25,000 NT from ecommerce platforms, so there is some money to play around with.

But going back, the basic/necessary costs, excluding tuition, for living in Taiwan is surprisingly not expensive, I think? And yeah tuition is probably the same for any good university in the region 🙂

    Hey! I'll arrive in Taipei in August for a 2 years master's degree at NTU. I have questions regarding working in Taiwan as a student. My first question is how to get a working permit. I've read somewhere that I'll have to wait 6 months and then ask for a permission letter from the school in order to apply for the permit, is that accurate? Secondly, is it easy to get a job? ^^

    • @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411
      @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you have all the documents ready, you can get the work permit anytime. You'll need copy of your student ID, ARC and certificate of enrollment. It takes around 10 days until work permit is issued. Getting a job depends on what kind of job you want to get. You can look for jobs at a webpage called '104 Taiwan'!

    Thanks ever so much for such a detailed video. I am actually looking to apply for one of the post grad programmes at NTU and I was wondering how the allocation of dormitory works? Is it guaranteed? Do you get to choose between the single or twin rooms? I feel this would make a huge difference as renting a place near the campus seems quite expensive based on my research...

    • @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411
      @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say dorms are guaranteed to international students. But since two years ago, all freshmen are first assigned to on-campus dorms(small dorm with 4 people in one room). You can still apply for off-campus dorms for single, double or triple rooms.
      **Dorms are 100% random. So you never know what you'll get.

    Hi! Can you give a rough estimate about the costs of:
    -entrance prices at clubs
    -using the gym on campus
    -wifi cost
    -airconditioning costs
    Also I was wondering, whether clothes are cheap to buy in Taipei?
    Thx your videos help a lot :)

    • @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411
      @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      1. Entrance fee is around 500 to 700NT
      2. NTU gym has many options for the membership. Full year: 1350NT Half a year: 750NT Montly: 200NT Daily: 50NT
      3. Wifi fee is included in the tuition(not sure about exchange students), To use the Internet in room, you can buy the internet cord which is around 100NT
      4. No need to pay for the air conditioning separately. The amount of electricity that the AC spent will be deducted from your electricity card. Which means if you turn the AC on often and for a long time,, money in your electricity card will run out faster.
      5. I personally think clothes in Taiwan is expensive. ZARA, H&M, UNIQLO etc.. are comparably expensive, unless it's on sale.
      Hope it helped:)
