    This all looks so relaxed compared to my college in the U.S. Even the students seem more relaxed. We were never, ever allowed to eat in a classroom. It would have been considered rude by every professor. On our campus, students were rushing about, in a hurry, trying to make their scheduled classes in different buildings. There was only one lunchroom and it was unpleasant. We were forced to pay for that lunchroom ticket in advance for at least two years.

    • @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411

      Relaxing uni life what I loved in Taiwan. Plus, eating in classroom is something every student does!! When our classes overlap with lunch time, prof tells us to get lunch box and have in class hahaha

      And one semester is around 4 and a half months.

      Hello! Do you mean the entrance exam or midterms and finals? To get into NTU you need scores of Toefl and HSK/TOCFL, which means test in both English and Chinese. For midterms and final exams, there are both English and Chinese tests. But that depends on the course and the professor.

    Is it possible to study in NTU if you don't speak Chinese? Is there any international programs?

    • @ashleytran2116
      @ashleytran2116 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lola Luciole hi there! This is Ashley from SPI, and you don’t need to speak Chinese to attend any of the universities in Taiwan, it’s just a bonus! Many foreign students are required to take chinese courses anyways so if you don’t speak Chinese they will place you in a beginners Chinese class.
      However if you are interested in a fully immersed Chinese learning experience I recommend you apply to a language institution at a specific university, at NTU we have a section of our campus dedicated to students who come just to learn chinese:) hope this helps!

    • @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411
      @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you get into NTU you will be assigned to the Chinese class that fits to your level. And international students usually take two years of mandatory Chinese classes! But in order to apply for NTU, the department might ask you to have the certificate of Chinese proficiency test.(Not everybody. Ashley got in without having one.)

      Frankly speaking there aren't a lot of opportunities for scholarship. But I'll tell you a few I know. 1) Apply for international student scholarship when you apply for NTU. This one waives your tuition and gives you montly allowance. 2) If you are applying for College of Liberal Arts, apply for their scholarship they offer once a year. 3) MOFA scholarship 4)NTU OIA Scholarship. This one also waives your tuition and gives you montly allowance.

      @@juanita9511 For some scholarships you can apply when you are applying for NTU. There are also ones that you apply after coming to Taiwan. And yes there are coin laundry machines in every dorm and near NTU

    I have a question...so
    In two years I will graduate and can attend university from then on....
    I still don‘t know what to study but if it‘s possible I would love to study in Taiwan ( for experience, also to gain more language competence )
    Also i study Mandarin Chinese in My free Time and i want to ask if a certain tocfl- level is required if you want to attend a Taiwanese university...
    Thank you in advance ! 😊

    • @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411
      @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the department! Some departments don't require you to submit the Mandarin proficiency test scores. But I recommend you do so!! I'm not quite sure about TOCFL score. For HSK, level 5 to 6 will be safe

    Hello . I'm an Indian and I always wanted to learn mandarin .So is there any college in Taiwan which give mandarin classes to foreign students as a course or something ?

    • @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411
      @sweetpotatoislandtaiwan7411  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want to learn Mandarin, you can register for the Mandarin training center in universities. National Taiwan Uni and National Taiwan Normal Uni are famous for those classes. But they are not the degree programs. If you're looking for a specific department, there aren't any. However, when you enter universities in Taiwan, they offer mandatory Chinese courses for those who lack Chinese proficiency(For NTU, this class is 6 hours a week).

      Hello. I would recommend national universities in Taiwan first because their tuition fee is generally cheaper than private universities. Unfortunately I don't think NTU medical school allows international students. I recommend you to look for Taipei Medical University.
