Great video. Cute puppy. Just have a cat now. As a senior have had 2 dogs but they passed in last 2 yrs. My cat is so loveable and great comfort for us now. Hes a inside senior cat. Thanks for telling us all the good deals. Take care and be warm.
We don’t eat pumpkin but when I find it on sale (after the holidays) I stock up for my dog. It’s healthy for her and she loves it. Also have canned dog food and treats. 🐶🐾
♥😍 Appolo is precious! I'm so glad he found his humans! I hope he gets more used to the camera as he gets older (and BIGGER) so we can enjoy him, too! I have not had a pet for a while. I made the decision that the last one was the LAST one. Too hard when you lose them even after doing everything possible the help them make it. R.I.P. Muffin♥
Oh yes, Apollo will definitely getting his fare share of camera time, he's a big star now! 😊 You're absolutely right though, losing a pet is the worst 😭😭😭 😢 R.I.P. dear Muffin 😔❤️
FYI: I buy only organic oats because oats are heavily sprayed with pesticides when grown. The best for you nutritiously in oatmeal is #1 Steel-cut Oats #2 Oldfashion Oats, #3 Quick Oats and that’s all. Instant Oats is just junk. Also you can turn Old fashion oats into quick cooking by running them thru a food processor a little( just” pulse” thru a couple of times).
Love this! That Apollo is just too adorable! I added to my little family this week, too! Two Lavender Plymouth chicks! They are so cute! My goldendoodle is not sure what to think! She's sniffed them a couple times, but otherwise has ignored them!😂 Your haul is very much like mine this week! Great video, Jara!
Love Apollo 😍 I have an Alaskan Klee Kia and worry about his needs as well. People tend to forget about pets when prepping 😢 Pumpkin, peanut butter, apple pieces and some cooked oats make great snacks 😎 doggie protein/fiber bars
My daughter used to work at Dollar tree and would always bring home food to try. The chocolate covered cookies are really good and the guacamole dip is surprisingly good. I was sure that would be gross but we get it all the time for tacos.
@@wickedprepared I seriously buy it by the case when they have it. The check out girl always looks at me like I'm crazy but I tell her it's really good. We have tacos once a week and we're a big family so we use a whole container on taco night. This way I know if it's out that I'll have a couple months supply. Plus it's a good prepper item if fresh avocados aren't available and a great way to bring more flavor to just bean and rice tacos or burritos if we're just cooking from our prepper pantry. 👍🥰
@@wasnevernurseratched439 Yay! I'm so glad you tried it and liked it. It doesn't look like much from the container but boy is it good. Perfect for nachos and tacos. God bless and take care.
🍽️ I try to keep a variety of long and short term emergency food…freeze dried, grocery store shelf stable foods, dehydrated, freezer plus a basic garden. Even with a 10 month supply for 6, I continue to add to it monthly along with adding emergency gear. The micro greens and sprouts are a good idea.🍽️
🐶 Great video, thanks! I love that you brought up the point about stocking up in advance of retirement - I never thought about that great idea. Ultrabrite is an older brand of Toothpaste , you're too young to remember it LOL! I love both Dollar store & Walmart too. It was such a close call between them!
The really good canned veggies are the Great Value Italian green beans (at 50 cents a can I would for sure buy a full case of 12 (or 2!)). So flavorful! For pasta I tend to buy the cheapest Hispanic pasta (like La Moderna brand but maybe also Goya) & I'm also a fan of angel hair pasta because it cooks so fast. Check Walmart & other places for the best prices on Hispanic pastas. And consider pot length spaghetti for ease of cooking it & saving water in an emergency (you can use a smaller pot to cook it) And I feel like you do on soups, pay a bit extra for those to get the best flavors while spending less on items like pasta & rice. Same for sauces. If I am not making my own red sauce I will splurge on Raos (stocking up when it is on sale at my local grocery store or Walmart or Costco). If it supposed to be a sauce I will pay more for that because it is what usually makes or breaks a meal.
Aren’t you concerned about the fat content in the mashed potatoes. The buttery complete mashed potatoes? I would like to know your opinion and I have heard so many. All I want to know is that when I was growing up we would dry our potatoes and use them as instant potatoes through the winter and spring. By the way I’m 66 so growing up they didn’t have dehydrators or freeze dryers. We made out just fine!
🐶Thanks for introducing Apollo to us! We have a senior Bichon Frise dog and a senior Tabby cat. Both are indoor outdoor (but mainly indoor) pets and we adore them both! We stock the Cainine CarryOuts treats too! Great for breaking into small pieces and trying to train them. Our dog knows she gets a treat each time she goes out to do potty and comes back to the door right away. Would you please tell us what type of food canisters you use in your kitchen? I need something to replace my worn out tupperware. Thanks for all your great videos!!
I want to try that! I havent forced myself to do it yet because the storebought is pretty cheap but hey if you have leftover rice might as well! I don't use my dehydrator as much as I'd like. I need to make it a permanent place in the kitchen so I'm more apt to use it! 🤗
@@wickedprepared once you start using it and dehydrating frozen veggies and fresh veggies that are on the edge... It looks soooo pretty!. And be sure to vacuum seal those jars 😉 When you get the time look up on TH-cam how to make homemade minute rice. It's not terribly time consuming, but you know exactly what is in it, and the $$$ saved may make it worth it for your family. Thanks for sharing all your great content! God bless!
I buy or make different flavored rices in my 20cup rice maker, then dehydrate it. After the 1 week conditioning I make my jars up. With some of them you can put vegies and then dehydrate. My favorite is the Spanish rice, especially good for taco soup. Just remember to not use oil or butter when cooking unless it's a short term option. You can add that in when you go to cook it.
I’m new to your channel but I’m with you on everything you were saying. I do all the shopping in our family and things like tuna and soups and pasta rice all that you really have to know your prices because one thing will be such a good deal, then other things that will get you on, and as long as you have different options, Walmart, dollar store, Aldi’s. I think you’ll do good as long as you know your prices. Very good video. God bless and don’t start prepping and everybody remember you got to rotate your stuff or you’ll have a lot of stuff that’s no goodbye the time you use it even though it last a lot longer than the due date.
I try to buy high acid foods in glass jars. If I get cans I re-can them or freeze dry. Your stores are much better than ours. Here in middle TN the Dollar Tree is not stocked very well and I never see the shelf stable milk. Our Walmart never has anything but the bakery marks downs or weird foods from others countries.
I just wanna point out that you have to be careful on a lot of food that you do by today. There’s a lot of GMO’s especially in the crackers and then soups. Please read your labels if you do not want to be eating bio engineered food products.
Catching up, lol behind.. Ultra bright toothpaste is old brand, mom would switch up on paste cause my sister would get picky 🙄🤷♀️..( 70s).Until Auqafresh came to be...
Lol on the “no name” brand toothpaste… it’s not a no-name brand toothpaste it’s just that you’re too young to recognize the brand. You should look up 70s era commercials for ultrabright toothpaste.
Classico pesto is very good, the dollar store pesto taste was awful. I use the buttery homestyle instant potatoes to stretch plain instant potato flakes, also not as salty when you add equal amount or 2x the amount to 1 package of flavor potatoes
Great advice, thank you! My closest store is a Dollar General, thank goodness they still have a $1 isle, and I pick up a few $1 foods each time I go which is several times a week, thank goodness they still have a few of those, but I scanned with the app to make sure, they are bad about not having correct prices in the shelf, and I've also gotten pretty good at their digital coupons.
Great video. I shop very similarly You may have mentioned this in another video I haven't watched yet.... I did want to mention to keep an eye on expiration or best by dates from dollar tree. I have found foods and especially pet treats nearing the date on the package, like within a month or less. That is something to keep in mind when rotating your on-hand supplies. There's nothing wrong with using recently purchased items first according to date expiration 😊 I know Most patry items last for a time beyond package dates. Just be mindful when restocking. 🐶

I haven't seen any Minute Rice at my DT but have seen those pouches. I am hesitant to buy them because I bought several Ben's rice pouches when they first came out and they were awful! It may have been me, but the texture was off. Between mushy and crunchy if that makes any sense LOL Not a pleasant experience. So, I just gave upon them.
I understand! The texture doesn't bother me but I do think they can have a strange flavor but we are pretty much always using them under a saucy dish like chicken teriyaki or peanut sauce chicken or something so we don't notice any difference in texture or flavor when we use them like that.
The beans and rice combination is a bit low on the amino acids methionine and threonine. You can get methionine in capsules to take with it. Your body will likely combine all amino acids eaten in the same day, so not all of them need to be eaten together. Sources of Threonine. Poultry and Meat (chicken, beef, sausage) Spinach Nuts (almonds, peanuts, walnuts) TVP (textured vegetable protein) Seed (sesame, pumpkin) Eggs Fish & Seafood (shrimp, salmon)
@@wickedprepared 💕 Happy to share. I'm a vegetarian. After surgery it took forever to heal. I researched protein and found out I hadn't been getting enough. It is all about balance
I can’t find my puppy mojo The ultrabright toothpaste is good check out your dollar store we have one here that has a clearance item I was able to get three bottles of dish soap and only one was half empty and the others were not even a quarter empty The two that were quarter empty they only charged me $.50 and the one that was a little bit more full not quite half but a little over the only charge me a quarter so $.75 I was able to get three bottles of this serious action it’s past the checkout they don’t advertise this
They sure do, Terry, they sure do. They're definitely not the most common beans harvested green, as there are other varieties that are more tender at that stage. But you 100% can harvest Pinto beans before they mature and enjoy delicious green beans. A quick Google search can confirm this, as well as looking on the back of Pinto bean seed packets.. But as even better proof, we've grown them and harvested them from our own garden for several years. Do you grow a garden, Terry? You should try it out! -Rob (Mr. Wicked Prepared)
Speaking of rice, we often mix cooked rice with scrambled eggs for breakfast, lunch, or supper.
It is cheap and easy to prepare.

White rice does not store for long....brown rice does.
You have the two flipped. If stored properly white rice can last indefinitely whereas brown rice has a shorter shelf life due to oil content.
You could of taken back and exchange them

I understand! The texture doesn't bother me but I do think they can have a strange flavor but we are pretty much always using them under a saucy dish like chicken teriyaki or peanut sauce chicken or something so we don't notice any difference in texture or flavor when we use them like that.

The beans and rice combination is a bit low on the amino acids methionine and threonine. You can get methionine in capsules to take with it.
Your body will likely combine all amino acids eaten in the same day, so not all of them need to be eaten together.
Sources of Threonine.
Poultry and Meat (chicken, beef, sausage)
Spinach
Nuts (almonds, peanuts, walnuts)
TVP (textured vegetable protein)
Seed (sesame, pumpkin)
Eggs
Fish & Seafood (shrimp, salmon)
Wonderful! Thank you for all the information. Nutrition is so fascinating and so important!
@@wickedprepared 💕 Happy to share. I'm a vegetarian. After surgery it took forever to heal. I researched protein and found out I hadn't been getting enough. It is all about balance

Green beans don’t come from pinto beans.
