@8:47 can't wait to see how you install the spring. My mechanic had actually misplaced his tool. He tried my smallengine valve spring tool but couldn't get it to work.
That method definitely works. Wouldn’t it work to use a bolt that is the size of the hole tap into place and use a nut and totally bypass the cheap bushings and be a permanent fix? Never tried it, just asking.
The 99-07 Gm twin 1/2 tons are also bad for rotting out behind the fuel tank . It happened to me bought what i thought was a clean 2000 sierra 1500 with lots of undercoating build up on the frame . Then my friend says you know your frames real thin behind the fuel tank right . I said no and after already spending $3k on brake, new real axle and other things.i decided to frame swap it , spent 12k and the so called friend really screwed me had it for 8-9 months saying it would be done but never was . I was finally feed up and lost it on him so he rushed putting it together and it was a nightmare. trucks had electrical problems so i sold it
I remember you telling me this before. Frame swapping is no easy task. Even if you have the same exact year. Sometimes newer models get brackets changed or small things moved. Sounds like your friend took on too big of a project. That is easy to do. They come apart pretty easy. The hard part is getting them back together and working right. I will just be fixing what I have. I will plate it or something. It's not near as bad as the white s10.
Sometimes it's good to take satisfaction in fixing something so you can still get good use. It will never be something to show off, but it's not meant for that.
I know I can make this look good and drive good. It's just the cost and time with doing so. I don't have a lot of money in the white S10, but I do have a good amount of time in it. It looks great and I am proud to drive it around, but the frame is just too rusty. Like I said I think I will tinker with this one and see what happens. I have the white truck which has a ton of good parts on it. The box is great which is half the truck.
My mechanic replaced the door bushings and pins on my driver door on my 02 but it still caught the striker. I ground the holes on striker to lower it but still drags a bit. Turns out he says droop is because front cab mount is rusted out and cab is 1 inch lower causing door issue.
Any Chevy I get the style pins with the lock nut and washers, Google it you’ll see them, you can get them tighter than those ones you used I had the same issue and stopped buying that style
It's what the parts store had. I may revisit this again and try a different brand. I think I need to jack up the door and bend everything back but that will probably destroy the bushings. It's not that bad so I can live with it for now.
It was the only thing the local parts store had. I might come back to this with a different brand. I need to jack up the door and bend the hinge back I think. That will probably destroy the bushings so I will wait on that fix. It's not too bad so I can live with it for now. Way better than it was.
Fixing junk. Is it really ever fixed? Sometimes you have to just enjoy it the way it is. Don’t think that truck will be perfect but it will be a fun project. Dorman is a red flag. Junk parts for sure.
@@mossman381 They make them all over the world through whatever factory has the best bid. That's why they have good and bad parts with no quality control.

You need the tool I have linked in the description and first comment. It goes right in no problem.
Check the engine lift for air. It more than likely doesn't need to be replaced, but just blead.
Never thought about that. Thanks for the tip.
Saw a video on the bushing installation. Used threaded rod and washers and nut to draw bushing down.

@dinosparky1109 bolt might wear the holes bigger. That's why they use a softer bushing knowing will wear instead and is easily replaced.
Yup, you need a bushing to be a wear part.
@@mossman381 makes sense thank you all for the input. Definitely won’t be attempting that.

The cab has issues but not sure that is why the door still sags.

Those Dorman pin kits aren’t that great even in the 99-07 full size trucks.

I’ve seen a lot of parts from Dorman that are junk and completely worthless

I have mixed feelings about Dorman. They have some good parts and then they sell some real junk.

That sounds about right.
