    Thank you (again)!
In addition to sharing the key errors that we might be making, you’ve gone the extra mile and explained WHY they don’t work.
And no judgement - sometimes a room or a budget or both leave us little choice. It’s so reassuring and realistic to acknowledge that when we can do better, we will.
So, enlightened by your expertise, we know specifically how to address the challenges. I appreciate the charts and measurements, including the various references to scale and proportion.
The nightstand may be the smallest piece of furniture in a bedroom but I have learned from you that it has many roles: bookcase, tabletop for decor and personal essentials, plus a partner to the lighting plan, etc., etc.
It’s impressive that a designer at your professional level would also share how to incorporate humble IKEA products into our homes.
    Thank you!

One of the things I like about Miriam is that she understands that the vast majority of people don't have large spaces and bottomless pockets - and even that some might be poor. The fact that she can be a fantastic designer of high-end homes but still give tips about IKEA hacks, painting thrift-store finds, and properly dealing with frustrating and poorly laid out small rooms is WONDERFUL!

Thank you Miriam! This episode contained a lot of very valuable information. I recently did a bedroom remodel in which, unfortunately, I had to stuff a king size bed. A few of your suggestions were most helpful and I especially appreciate the points that included measurements.

You have an amazing knack for explaining why things look better (or worse) in a room ... I have several problems you discuss - reach in closet and entry door on wall 1, bathroom door on wall 2, a double window on wall 3, and a single window on wall 4 - which leaves little room for any furniture or storage. I opted for a dark wood bedroom set with queen bed with drawers under at the foot board so I could at least store a few bigger things. I have 1 60" high by 42" wide dresser with a TV hung above on wall 2, the 58" high bed against the window on wall 4 with 2 32" matching nightstands, and hung small pendants from the ceiling over the nightstands which have built in charging and floor lighting. I'm at the stage now where I am thinking about what color to paint the room, which has no rugs, a blonde wood floor, and bright white woodwork and trim. I will probably add some trim on the walls to try to balance the windows, with maybe 1 shade darker inside the trim ... I need to think and think about color and details because it does not come naturally for me ;-) I would have liked to get unmatched bedroom furniture but was afraid that it would look too cluttered in a small room (12' x 11'). Anyway, thank you for sharing your expertise!

I usually don't like what decorators do, especially in high-end magazines, but I love the visuals you showed of your bedrooms and your advice. Can you recommend a mattress and box spring for the elderly with pain problems? Husband is 6'1" 216lbs. I cannot find a mattress and box spring that doesn't have a lot of negative reviews. I know you have to try the mattress but what do you have? And if you recommend the frame that adjusts to different positions. And we wanted to buy a big down comforter. One great tip was to get a comforter a size larger. So a king for out queen bed. And pillows. Your pillows look amazing and they are so hard to find. Pillows for sleeping and decorating. Thank you so much! Kind regards, Kathy

Miriam...You are the BEST on the internet. PERIOD!
You stated that if your panels are stationary it should be a panel and a half, if memory serves me.
What are you considering a panel and a half? Does the wall width that it is covering matter?
Is it the width of the wall space to be covered by 1.5 to 2 times that measurement?
    Please share your expertise.
    With Great Appreciation

    • @miriammanzointeriors
      @miriammanzointeriors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi, a panel and a half refers to the width of the fabric, which is generally 54 inches per panel. the larger the window and wall the larger your drapery should be. Panel and a half should be the minimum width being used

I'm completely re-doing my master bedroom 4 years after losing my precious husband. There is fresh paint and a new floor, but I've been putting off buying the furniture. It has been difficult to make decisions, especially with furniture, but I know how I want it to look... classy, bright, feminine and cozy. Unfortunately, I find it difficult to get comfortable lying in bed to read, watch t.v. or be on the laptop, so I know that I want a pretty chaise lounge to stretch out on. I already have a blonde armoire with doors to hide the t.v. if I want to. I wish I had you to help me!

Love all your videos! I have been watching you for a long time - you’re the best, by far. We are currently in the process of building a custom home in NC, really early in the process. The plan is pretty much ready (finally) and we are trying now to source the limestone and brick for the exterior. Our samples of Texas Limestone were awful! So much yellow; just hideous. I want the lighter and various tones (soft white/ivory, various shades of gray (nothing dark), an occasional cream tone is ok, too, but having difficulty finding anything except those yellow and white variations. 😫 Do you have any ideas where I might find some help with this? Or, do you happen to know the type of limestone I would seek out (from my description)? I would appreciate your input immensely. I am almost 70 yrs young and want this home to be my last and best home. Thanks so much, Miriam.

It seems that this all needs to begin with the architect designing a properly sized room with windows, closets & doors appropriately placed. If they know of these rules why create such small rooms in the first place? My bedroom is much larger than my childhood bedroom & still cannot have 36" on either side of the bed no matter where I place it. No wonder why I'm always frustrated with any place I've lived. I must have an inner sense of space that my budget just doesn't allow, lol.

I designed my new bedroom with two large runners down the sides of my bed rather than a huge area rug under the entire bed. I feel that it's such a waste of money to invest in a huge rug when you can't see 70% of it! Another huge reason is, I suffer from allergies and need to be able to have a relatively dust-free environment and vacuuming a rug UNDER my bed as I'm getting older is not an option. The runners are long and wide enough to go from my bedside dressers to the end of my bed and put under the leg of my bed at the end. It's PERFECT and so much more cost-effective as a bonus. I can clean them easily and they are easy to replace if I want to go with a different style.

I do like our carpet somewhat, but it tends to look flat, without texture, like the layering techniques I often see with rugs.

I value your opinion, and your unique perspective, I thought; well I’ll ask.

So it is really having money to spend? Money for a thicker mattress, expensive sheets, and above all a bigger room. My home has those eleven by eleven foot bedrooms and yes the queen size beds are a little large for the rooms but we sleep so good not being crowded in a full bed. For a truly lux feel I wouldn't have built in closets if I built another home. I would have large moveable wardrobes built so I wouldn't be stuck in only way to arrange my bedrooms. With a door on one wall a large closet door one another wall and a window on the third wall in each bedroom there is only one place to place the bed. Thankfully over the years I have been able to get double pillow top mattress in each bed room. I found a way to get double use from night stands. I had the top drawer cut off the chest of drawers and put the top back on . I have a short three drawer chest on each side of the bed to double as a place for folding clothes and a night stand. Perfect for my use.

The lady has style, I like every thing she says and does! Don't be so critical! Should she be doing cartwheels for you? Grow up. You sound like a teenager. Miriam us feeling under the weather! Where is your empathy? I am writing from Australia. It is 2.31 in the morning and I cannot stop watching her fabulous show, Show some gratitude or remain quiet!

But, you watched her video? Why don’t you just look for something more ‘you’ (maybe some of those crazy cartoon-like videos about Harry and Meghan. You could be best friends with them… 😂
