Man, like this is Darkthrone in the beginning, great band, both then and now! Btw I had one year when they were playing this :D Too bad in my country we couldn't have Oslo TV and I couldn't see it then :P
The best Darkthrone ever was the Death Metal ! "Soulside Journey" is one of my top 3 recordings ever !!! I fukin love this stuff. Thank you so much for posting it !!!!!!!
Awesome! I heard this is included on the DVD on the new release of "Preparing for War". Just hope the quality is a little better - doesn't need to be that much better, but since it is an official TV recording, I guess it will be better. Will be receiving the new release soon - can't wait! In the meantime I'll enjoy this. Kickass!
Man I love the fucking raw production. when I first put this one I was thinking holy shit this is terrible man hahaha and I havent really listened to the preparing for war set ever since but just recently I picked it up again and It fucking kicks ass!
Well, I have read that there was this growing attitude of disinterest in the death metal scene--Immortal and Burzum started out as death metal as well in the beginning. I just find this sudden shift in attitude curious.
Exactly, it was nu-metal. And I was a little tired when I wrote my first comment, so just to cleare some things up. It's not like there's no good american metal, it's just that allmost all american metal I've heard sounds pretty much the same, and as said is either nu-metal or thrash metal mixed up with the genre it's supposed to be. But I'm sure there is lots of greate american metal out there I've never heard!
I don't think any of their albums are equal to Soulside Journey. Don't get wrong, I dig their Black Metal stuff, but the Old School Death Metal sound is where it's at!
I think norwegian BM has a unique sound which I've never heard in a BM song from anoher country since I started listening to BM! And imo, american metal usually sucks. It's usually either thrash metal or this other genre I can't remember the name of atm (Same as Linkin Park etc).
This shit fukin' rips!!! this was not listed on soulside journey right!? Anyone know where this can be found!? CD, name of the song etc..THANX..STAY EVIL ALPHA FUKERS!!!
Early days!
Thulcandra 🤘

I remember watching the show back in the day.
lol,I miss bootleg-tv.
HAIL VHS!!!
Cromleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech!! A legendary band, great memories from they're early death metal days.
una reliquia
True Black Quality
I still find it strange how they went from this experimental death metal sound to pure black metal. It's a real treat to see them performing at all.
Awesome death metal times! Soulside journey is, truly, a good scandinavian death metal album.
yes, you'll right. This is the early times of darkthrone, they adopted the style of black metal 1991.
Touche my friend, touche.
this is definately something from "Soulside Journey". Need to listen to that album)
darkthrone had a unique death metal sound. I'm glad they went in another direction with 'a blaze', but this era of darkthrone is underrated
Fenriz's hair looks like Keanu Reeves' hair from "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures". Nice video, BTW.
...and now please someone build me a timemachine so I could see that live.

cromlech an amasing song
Best Darkthrone days... they sound like Morgoth
Well, I have read that there was this growing attitude of disinterest in the death metal scene--Immortal and Burzum started out as death metal as well in the beginning. I just find this sudden shift in attitude curious.
I fucking love when darkthrone used to sound like autopsy, great time for death metal
that comment may have just made my day....its early though
Agreed
darkthrone so fucking rules.
@finalholocaust Yeah, indeed!
Eon is the last song on soulside journey.
fucking great band¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
@cochi256 Yup
@finalholocaust I would say they sound more like Autopsy...
for one of the best black metal bands of all time, they make one of the best death metal albums of all time..haha..thats why darkthrone fucking rulez

@skegtheegg I respect your opinion! :D
they had a big doom metal edge as welll
I don't think any of their albums are equal to Soulside Journey. Don't get wrong, I dig their Black Metal stuff, but the Old School Death Metal sound is where it's at!
WOW! I envy you!.. You've seen them live!
Why wasn't I born about 15 tears earlier?!
Young DarkThrone =Death metal
@darkforestspirit thats is so very fucking true.

you forgot about Death "scream bloody gore"
Yellow shirt?

They sound like Morgoth to me
Death fuckin' metal (with balls).
Death Metal pretty boyz :))
@tecagroindustrial Black Metal? This is before they turned BM tard. They haven't even released Soulside Journey at this point in time.
immortal and burzum death metal? you mean old funeral?
no one really knows.. fenriz somehow doesnt want to play live..

Judas Iscariot fucking rules man in my opinion only American BM band worth listening to
Havohej and Rituals of a Blasphemer aren't bad
None of those bands should be remembered. The correct answer is Von and Profanatica.
AUTOPSY!
This shit fukin' rips!!! this was not listed on soulside journey right!? Anyone know where this can be found!? CD, name of the song etc..THANX..STAY EVIL
ALPHA FUKERS!!!
Judas Iscariot is the only good american blackmetal band, but he did not like america either
Nu-metal you mean? yeah i cant stand linken park i like most black metal and Judas Iscariot is a good BM band though american
