As with so many artists who leave us way too early....we all sit and wonder....what more...could they ve given us? What other amazing music and impacts, cold they have provided. With Jeff gone...we all got robbed of greatness. there will NEVER be...another Jeff Porcaro. Rest in peace to Mike, Jeff, and their father Joe.
2016 and I still miss these Porcaro brothers. Jeff was the reason that I started drumming. But the influens of these 2 men wil go on for years. They where true musicians!
In the late 70s Jeff and Mike Porcaro would play on Friday night at Dontes in North Hollywierd with Larry Carlton and Greg Mathisen. The room was half full and these guys would cut loose and it was a dream. Jeff played an unmiked kit and they would open with a burning 20 minute version of Room 335. LC commented often about how he looked forward to jamming with the boys after a tough week of paying jingles and man he was so good. It was a phenomenal opportunity and was some of the greatest hours of my life. Eat your heart out. RIP Porcaro Bros.
Would be wonderful to hear Jeff, Mike, Larry and Greg together in a small club. At least I heard Jeff and Mike with Toto twice in concert. Also Larry a couple of times with his own band. Great memories! After one gig I told Larry, that I just had listened to one of his records with Jeff. He got quite sentimental, smiled and said "good old times". 🥰😉
Wow. I love you both so much. Im also a Northeast Italian with two brothers one named Mike. Both are drummers. I’ll never accept the loss of Jeff Porcaro and now you, Mike. Life is a fing shame.

That brings tears to my eyes, though I have seen it before...so sad that Mike is sick now too. The Porcaros are such an amazingly talented family, and I pray God will bless each one of them.
The first time I heard Toto I fell in love with them, that was 25 years ago, and I feel their music is better everytime I listened to them. Porcaro was an excellent drummer...

Thank you Mike for those words. I did not know or ever meet Jeff, but as a drummer myself I felt him and hear him in my playing. And I miss him too. P.S. Sorry I didn't know you were dead to. Will never mine.
I never met Jeff but I admire his work immensely. I had met Mike on two occasions and he was just such a fine gentleman and musician. Jeff was quoted as saying Mike was the best drummer in the family so I just wish we could have watched him in action. I read a story where David won a bet that Mike would know a drum technique that Simon didn't know. It turned out to be a French roll, which Mike defined and demonstrated.
@@HJ-fb8rl Mike was very cool and quiet. When the rest of the band came out to greet fans in the back stage party, Mike would chill with his wife in the bus, then come out for a quick hello. We sat with his wife during the concert and she spoke with us like she knew us for 20 years. When I greeted Mike and we discussed family, I'm of Italian descent as well, he was thrilled at how common our homes and traditions were. Then I told him I played along with Mr. Porcaro's Instructional Tape, and demonstrated how Mr. P. counted down, Mike kissed me on the cheek.
