No that’s not Thirteen in the thumbnail, that’s one of the coasters (Flight of the Hippogriff) I reference replacing the ride that’s closed. I can see the similarity from a distance but I thought the beige train and less steep drop would be enough to show it wasn’t 13. Didn’t even come to mind when editing it. I would never intentionally and unironically clickbait my videos, so my apologies if it came off that way ❤️
What i think could happen is that they keep the current ride system in place and retheme it to some sort of indoor family boat ride similar to Charlie and the chocolate factory (but obviously a different theme), as since the flume was removed in 2015, Alton Towers don't have a lot of water rides so removing another wouldn't be a good idea in my opinion.
Given Alton recent track record of reviving former ideas for rides such as Curse a retake on Haunted House, Nemesis Reborn a retake on Nemesis, and Nemesis Sub Terra and Hex altered enhanced versions. I would like to see a modern take on Toyland Tours for the simple fact that no other ride captures what Alton Towers is about then Toyland Tours the Magic, Mystery, Quirkiness, Over the Top. The ride wants to invite you in from the second you walk into Towers Street the og Towers Street theme from 1993-2008 it plays the Toyland Tours Soundtrack and even as you get close the music continues throughout the are and the ride I think everyone would be happy if they brought that Legendary Ride back in some form
I’ve kinda noticed that trend too. Alton seems to be cashing in on nostalgia for the park of yesteryear by reimagining these older rides in a new light (Curse at Alton Manor, Nemesis Reborn, Skyride and Hex refurbs, the rumoured Ripsaw II) so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did go back and retheme the boat ride to something like how it was in the past (I have my bets on Around the World in Eighty Days) and Project Horizon seems to me like they’re doing some kind of reimagining of the Black Hole. It’s rumoured to be an enclosed rollercoaster and the name ‘Horizon’ has connotations with astronomy.
@@edcola6671 I don't think using old concepts and reimaging them into something new is a bad thing, I think its good because it caters to the older guests for nostalgia of the past but also new enthusiasts as they may have never experienced the original overall its a good idea in my opinion. As many of those rides were beloved and probably never been removed, but at the same time they are doing new stuff like Project Horizon and the new Scare Mazes
@@joecandish3923I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I’d love to see how Merlin could reimagine those old rides, since most of them were just basic travelling models designed to be installed temporarily.
A trackless dark ride or indoor rollercoaster (saying that horizon may not be a coaster) are good shouts! Hopefully a dark ride themed to the dark forest that helps with the LOOOOORE of the area. I think that could be epic depending on how they do it
The reason why they closed 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' was due to lisencing I do believe, otherwise they probably would have kept it open, which is why I think it took Alton Towers years to think of a new attraction to replace that empty space as they didn't think about loosing the lisencing. I never visited the Dungeon as it's not my type of attraction, plus with it being an up-charge too, but whatever they will do to it will not replace the dungeons in terms of popularity and income for the park.
I think after the Scarefest attraction I hope Alton Towers will re theme it to theme it for what Horizon is and to create a new area at the back of the park ❤
Wait, if Merlin owns Alton Towers, The Dungeons and Sea Life, why the hell did they make you pay extra for the Dungeons but not the Sea Life attraction?
They've not actually it's closing forever, just for the rest of the season to prepare for Scarefest, so it could always re-open next year. That being said, FINGERS CROSSED, EH?!?!?!
A water ride could be nice and they don’t have many. Another option would be to use it and walliams world to make a walkthrough outdoors attraction similar to the one at legoland.
I went on Toyland Tours when it was in its final death gurgles. It was the most unintentionally terrifying experience of my life. FNAF wasn't a thing back then, but holy shit it doesn't even compare! The janky, creaky, broken animatronics with half of their fur & faces missing, & their warped haggered voices that were trying to sing (I think) while you were pulled around a water track in a wet boat that absolutely reeked of mould & chlorine. The following year it turned into Charlie & The Chocolate Factory so the nightmare was finally over, but the experience is forever burned into my memory
To be honest I think it will stay as a scare attraction until horizon comes along they will replace it with a plaza and maybe a flat ride they need more of them, btw we didn’t forget about you eating your shoe dan!
We’ve seen with Wickerman and Smiler that Alton Towers like to do scare mazes to promote new roller coasters so could we be seeing a Project Horizon themed Scare Maze????
Did the boat trough layout thing used to be longer? It certainly seemed it, in the “around the world in 80 days” era. Maybe that’s my memory playing tricks, though. That was a lovely ride. I want that back, please. Have a word with Mrs Alton Towers.
I think that it will somehow be merged ( or the space wil be used ) for project horizon, as it is a while indoor caster, and towers would want to make it really good, they would need enough space. Also it would be weird for a coaster to be squeezed into the small gap between dungeons and Williams.
I think that a new area themed to a fairytale land which could include a log flume and a children’s rollercoaster or wing coaster maybe like troublesome truckers or mandrill Mayhem
I think that they’ll scrap the entire building demolish it and use that area to make sw9 have an outdoor section so it will be a multi launch where at one moment your inside a giant building and the next your in a forceful launch I’d say a Vekoma or Mack coaster would fit towers in this area
I think they will either keep the boat ride and re theme it to the theme of project horizon or make some what extension to the world of David Walliams. If they where to create an extension to the world of David Walliams it will either be another indoor dark ride such as the old Charlie and the chocolate factory with the excising boat ride in place. I would like to see the warehouse knocked down and install a family thrill coaster like thirteen but a bit more thrilling coaster like mandrill at chessington.
Bring Back Toyland Tours! 1. I think Alton Towers does best when using their own ideas and not working in conjunction with an outside IP. 2. It was big in the 90’s so the nostalgia factor will be high as any kid who had fond memories of it during its time, likely have children of their own at the right age. So popularity for it will be much higher than when it left. Ideally I’d love to see AT allow the deals with CBeebies and David Williams expire and revert to their own IP for children’s areas. Old MacDonalds farm was amazing as a kid.
I love the idea of a new coaster or dark ride going in that area and even the idea of combining the building, project Horizon and Britains got Talent man area into one, but lets be real here, there going to bring back the retrosquad.
I remember going on the Alton Towers Dungeon ride with my brother many years ago. While on the torture boat ride, my brother actually freaked out by the silhouette video of a man being sawn in half.
Bring back Toyland tours. Still one of the best family attractions the parks ever had. The theme tune still lives rent free in my head on a daily basis...
I reckon it will be replaced with a brand new big scare maze for 2025 as the building is pretty big, and towers would want some sort of world's first in that maze. I'm going to thorpe park for the first time this saturday dan! would be great to meet you there
They should try and rebuild water world in that space and put in the flume and proffeser burps bubble works as well as a water flat ride like baral bayle out
I think that they'll either retheme it to whatever Horizon is going to be, but they'll keep it as a dark ride, as I think that the theming will relate to being in a dark ride (something like the Haunted Mansion hopefully, but Curse already covers that) or remove the water ride part of it after Scarefest and do what X did and be a completely indoor rollercoaster which I hope happens (rip X) I really hope the theming of Horizon and whatever Dungeons will be won't be 'family friendly' and be like Smiler, Wickerman and Nemesis lore, bc I think Alton is known for having amazing spooky theming and backstories so I hope it's equally as dark and horror-oriented as the others as I think a family theming area would stick out like a sore thumb :P
I think they'll keep the building and use it for some kind of indoor attraction, because I think they want to start opening through the winter and so more indoor attractions would allow that (in a year or two).
I don't think they will, they already open for Christmas but mostly cbeebies land and mutiny bay. This is to allow maintenance for rides and the UK legislation requires downtime for maintenance each year.
I think we'll be getting a new dark ride. Potentially the same boat ride with a retheme, potentially a new rid system all together. David Walliams will close, and that area will be rethemed to whatever horizon's story turns out to be, with Gangsta Granny's ride system being left in, just getting a new narrative. Whatever ride replaces the dungeons will remain separate to this theme, maintaining a more horror inspired aesthetic, though potentially slightly toned down, in contrast to the much more family friendly horizon area.
I would love to see a re-do of Toyland Tours in that area. With a re theme of Williams World to go with it. I know Alton has brought back Nemesis and the Haunted House (sort of), so what could stop them from bringing back Toyland Tours? It has the ride system and where Towers are going theming wise, it could be a great investment. It would cost less than other options too!
This is G Force George here, there’s planning permission in place for solar panels on the roof so the building is likely to stay, however, I could see the ride system being used and The World Of David Walliams being rethemed to the Alton Characters.
Mind you the last time they did a scarefest it was to *teased a new SW the park* For example: the welcoming for wicker man and that one for the smiler (i forgot what it was called) and with that *project horizon* in the works (from my pov) it kinda puts 2 and 2 together and hence why they decided to remove the dungeon's??
It’s sad because although it’s changed its face a lot the actual boat ride system is probably one of the oldest rides in the park, but that area defo needs some revitalising and with Horizon alongside it’ll be a must go to area
I think they'll keep the boat thing and make a Darkest Depths sequel. Like what they did with Tiny's Revenge for Scarefest '23. After that they'll probably end up tearing down Walliam's World and hopefully build a new area incorporating the boat ride. Maybe they'll even tear down the building and have the boats outdoors? You never know
I went to alton towers on the 9th June and it hasn't been running fine since then, on the day I went the previous Saturday had been so busy that the wheels on the train, which keep it on the track, had came off of train 1. That's why it has only had train 2 running, but that is now broken.
I think they will replace it and add a duke coaster one kid one and one for the adults similar to the tmnt themed one in America with a wild mouse and a launched/ vertical lift hill one
I believe they will make a Intamin super flume like Valhalla but themed like project horizon. I really enjoy your videos! Also your my number 1 TH-camr
I think if project horizon does become a water coaster, then it will become some sort of dark ride element because obviously the project horizon building isn't that big. Love your vids and hope you reach 100k subs.
I think the Alton towers dungeon could be a good space for an indoor roller coaster like Vogel rok if they expanded it as merlin has the budget to make it extremely well themed and it would drag more guests to AT
towers always make scare mazes for new rides so could it be a scare maze for the indoor coaster or for whatever there gonna build where the dungeons are?
I personally would love a trackless dark ride, as to the theming I am unsure. Something children friendly I would assume. Maybe an Alton Bear ride a bit like Minnie and Mickey's ride in Florida. I wouldn't moan too much if they kept the boat system and turned it into something like a frozen or pirates ride with a few drops in it. Or lastly demolish the building for a new log flume or Water coaster for families.
What i think is gonna happen is that like what dan said it could be a kids coster but i think that they could do a kids coster but with a little twist like lots of side turns But thats only my thoughts!
It would be cool if the added a dark drop tower if it was possible but I think the dungeons will become a family ride or a dark rollacoster something like saw at Thope Park would be really cool
They need another water ride since flume shutting and now this, the old system needs an update because it’s been rethemed and reused so many times. Could be a Valhalla type of indoor scary droppy log flume?
I have a feeling that they will keep retheming the dungeons or maybe even theme it to gangsta granny. Also I reckon that they could possibly make another section to the park out of project horizon weather that includes rides underground or them extending that half of land I don’t know but I would love for them to do that. Whereas for scarefest I think they’ll just make it a haunted house like thing similar to the curse just for now.
The title scared me but then I read the description.. I thought it would be Th13teen or sum and then I wouldn't get to trick my friends on Thursday for my Towers school trip..
Would be good if that the building would be a good sise foe a mac coaster like icon or tarron or a flying coaster like fly that's just what I think 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think the most realistic would be demolishing it and theming it in with project horizon, We have seen how Towers have majorly improved on theming recently with obviously Reborn, Wickerman and i wouldnt be surpised if they dont want to top the theming of them both with Horizon, and make it one of the UKS best themed attractions. The whole area could be put to good use with Merlin Magic Making.
No chance of a coaster going there. The locals complained about the coaster that was next to the dungeons for being to noisey, Alton Towers had to remove it in the end. That's why there is the storage space in between the Dungeons and Walliams World.
keep the building but change the layout of the water ride and include some drops and then call it "the flume re-plugged" as I think Alton just needs a water ride of some kind.
I'd love to see a smaller family roller coaster at Alton Towers, something bigger then Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure (even though that would be hard) but smaller or same size as Runaway Mine Train as I reckon Runaway Mine Train could be removed in the next 5-10 years as it would be 37-42 years old.
No that’s not Thirteen in the thumbnail, that’s one of the coasters (Flight of the Hippogriff) I reference replacing the ride that’s closed.
It could be a outdoor area for project horizon #ripDungeons
I think there will be a family area or brandnew flatrides
I have no idea but the 4D cinema building is still sitting there unused in D W area.
Ive been alton towers a fair few times and never even knew about this building 😂
Falcons flight coming to Alton towers?
