Nice to see there are still some good people in the world today. Sgt Rivers did NOT deserved to be treated this way. ALL military, police and first responders NEED to be treated with respect regardless of gender and race.

Poor woman. The airline staff were unkind to this black army lady. She has reason to cry thinking about her sick daughter. Lucky there was a kind person Tom who asked her what happened and she told him what other staff said not to board the plane. Tom went and told the manager who was really shock of the staff attitude. Good the manager will discipline the staff who were unkind to Angela.

Some people can be so unkind & cruel & it’s a shame that someone like Angela had to be the victim of the women’s abuse when trying her best to get to the hospital to be with her sick child! Each one of the women that worked at the airport ticket counter should have been fired immediately!! Thank God for the Airport Staff Member,& Manager for helping her. Unkindness has a way of coming back to those that show it to others; you reap what you sow!!

Gosh how could a bunch of airport staff prevent a soldier from boarding a plane to visit her sick daughter in hospital.
Am glad senior airport staff upgraded her ticket to first class when they noticed the soldier crying . The soldier exchanged contact details with the senior airport staff in case she needed further assistance.
Am glad the soldiers daughter was getting better. God bless the top airport who stepped in her hour of need as the acknowledge her service to the country.

For those calling bs: I totally believe this is true because though I'm white, I recieved the same sort of treatment while I was in the US Army going home while in uniform before being shipped off to my duty station in Germany and I was on a Greyhound bus, true there was no upgrade but still... Here I was a 19 yr old in Virginia trying to get a ticket to Texas, in uniform and I was put off until the last avalible seat after everyone else got their tickets. I wasn't even given a reason. The only apology I got was in the way of a military discount, but back then any soldier got that. I even got a somewhat same reaction as I tried boarding the plane to Germany and that was because the ticket agent question the validity of my military ID since I was female. The male ticket agent didn't like the idea of female soldiers going into a combat zone since Bosnia was going on at the time and most people knew if a soldier was being stationed in Germany, that soldier was going to Bosnia (back in the mid 90s for those that don't know when the Bosnia conflict was).

Treating war veterans with respect is important if the airport team want it too, why were they keen to stop the veteran from boarding ?? Definitely racism due to melanin again, like most hate-related cases at most!!! Should they not worry about their careers if the bosses hear of such rude treatment?? They can kiss the promotions and perks goodbye if they don't at least apologize for their actions and resolve to be better in general. Remember, everyone, it costs nothing to be kind and respectful. You will get more back in return for good deeds and even more if you let ignorance overrule such acts!!! Yikes!!!

I don’t know if this is a true story but it made me angry just to think of treating anyone like they treated her. It was taken to the next level to think of any member of our military being subjected to such cruel treatment. Until one has walked in the shoes and experienced the despair of serving in a duty station so far from your loved ones. Trying to get home in an emergency and the sense of urgency, is enormous. While serving in Germany, and spending more than 24 hours trying to get home on emergency leave due to serious medical conditions of my sister and not knowing if I’d get there in time.

Taking negative action against a service member for filing a complaint, raising concerns, or exercising their legal rights is a serious offense. If you experience retaliation after filing a separate complaint or raising an issue within the chain of command, an Article 138 complaint can address this injustice. so if im correct the sodier wins and the airport staff is in the loss

This may seem like an inspiring story and could have been except for being told without any explanation of what was wrong with the soldier's ticket. .... The hint that it was because the solider was black is disingenuous. This is a public airport. Such public discrimination by staff.does not occur. .... I believe this entire story is fiction. There are other parts that also make little sense. .... However I am offended by the implication of making it due to race. ... There could have been other reasons why a ticket would be refused, but I am certain the airport staff would have found a solution without it resulting the soldier being so treated. .....
