    A true artistic classic! One of the best written and acted radio plays of all time.

    Hats off to Les Crutchfield. Fabulous writing and story. You can really get a sense of the cattle drives and range wars. This episode was an education.

    Outstanding. There's been some good'uns, but is the best one I've heard yet. "By heaven, I don't know.... You know Chester, think I'm gonna change my ways." When I heard that, I raised my hands to God!

      Perhaps one of my favorite episodes. And actually, kind of topical today... Hard times bring out the best and the worst in people... and we have seen a lot of the worst.

    Loved James Arnez but didn't seem fare they choice him over William Conrad to do the TV Matt Dillon of all the hundreds of radio shows William Conrad did on radio, but I know that James Arnez was John Wayne's friend

    This episode reminds me of the time in "The Long Winter" (from the "Little House on the Prairie" series) when Almanzo and Cap risked their lives to get wheat so the starving town if De Smet would have food, only for store owner Mr. Loftus to attempt to price gouge the citizens. A riot almost erupted. Laura's father managed to avert it, and Mr. Loftus sold the wheat for the same price it had been bought.
    Would you believe his store still stands in De Smet, SD today? It's actually a tourist attraction!

      Seems Chester started morphing over time into becoming more like his buffoonish TV counterpart (the Dennis Weaver "Chester.") But lead characters (like Matt) having sidekicks was sort of a necessity in radio, because the lead hero needed somebody for a sounding board.

    • @howardoller443
      @howardoller443 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@markvines7308 That is what faith is about, regardless of which side of the fence on which you sit. I have a degree in Ecology/Environmental Science from a Big Ten university, with coursework in Evolutionary Theory, Genetics, etc.. I absolutely believe God created the Universe because His fingerprints (figurative) are on everything. And how do unbelievers reconcile the unscientific belief in their theory that "something came from nothing"? Neither believers nor unbelievers can give "proof" about how the Universe came to exist and about biogenesis (how life came to exist). Since neither side has "proof", both have to have "faith" to support their theory. One believes in a Higher Power and Intelligent Design while the other group believes in everything relies on random chance and scientific processes. Besides, whether there is "proof" or not does not change the fact that we exist, so each must make their own decision.
