i'm a year late, but john probably didn't immediately get over bruce's death. he obviously could have just laughed because he was told off by harley, but part of it could have been because he was nervous. my memory of the game and its events isn't the best, but the group was supposed to go back to their hideout after they finished the operation, right? i'm not saying that one singular laugh that was probably for a different reason is proof of the fact he actually still did care, but john could have giggled because he was worried about bruce. i definitely think that giggle was for harley though. another idea is that john could have lulled himself into a false sense of hope that bruce got out, especially because apparently during the time of the cafe scene and laptop theft he realized that bruce was batman/solidified his belief he was. if he did do that, he probably thought something like "well how could batman die here?" or "batman will call someone to help him" or john had a little outburst and got angry which caused harley to become annoyed and tell him that he shouldn't care about a traitor. so john either forced himself to get past bruce or to hide how he felt because he didn't want to make harley upset. also john could have been upset at bruce because he didn't go with his plan and/or he convinced himself bruce deserved it because he was lying to him and using him. just a couple of little ramblings and ideas i thought of. i don't have the best memory of this game so i probably missed some plot points or dialogue among the way 💀

Okay so John IS my favorite character (even though his character personality changed every episode we're gonna ignore that) I'm probably biased because of how I played to say he's my favorite because my version of him is different than others. BUT something I note now looking back on it, I made a LOT of bad desicions, horrible decisions morality wise, because I wanted to feed into John's wishes since the moment you question John's morality or what he's doing he gets mad at you and I'm just now realizing how TOXIC that is! When your in any relationship romantically or platonically, you have to be able to look at both sides and John never once considers that he does terrible things even if he doesn't mean to and that not everyone would feel safe with that? Bruce is a dick for using him to get into the pact but the moment you go anywhere away from John's sense of Justice or what he thinks Bruce should do, he gets pissed and blames you later for it. You can never control mental illness, I understand that, but you can't blame Bruce for when he doesn't feed into your destructive behavior John. I think because I'm a people pleaser I didn't notice, but John always goes down because he never considers he's in the wrong.

Before you'll agree on an analytical Telltale video, consider this wall of text; That would be a very difficult video to make. Not impossible, but difficult. See - Telltale is about YOU and how YOU'VE experienced the story, and I'm 100% positive my experience was totally different from yours. You responding differently to some seemingly meaningless bullshit John said in episode 2 may change your whole perspective - not even because your answer made John behave differently for the rest of the game, but because his reaction changed your whole opinion on him. That's why many people think he's a precious cinammon roll, even tho he's a gaslighting snake, sorry John fangirls, you must embrace the truth if you want an analysis. And what's the point of analysing something we all understood differently and nobody even knows how it's meant to be "correctly"? And another thing is, ehhh, how to say it nicely :D.... The Telltale devs, they just... don't plan ahead, I guess we can all agree on that. They're known for making the story up as they go - episode by episode - retconning the rest of their lore in the process. And thus a lot of times I don't see John acting off as a clue to the true nature of his character, I genuinely just see that as the developers being incompetent xp Most of the the times. Sometimes I think they're really trying to hint at something. And the circle closes - again - that's just me cherrypicking what I like - personalized experience. And ALL of this would be extremely clear in the potential analysis. Especially because it would end up being kinda messy, as, to this day, I genuinely don't understand this Joker. While I personally see that as a good thing - you're never supposed to know Joker's true intentions - again, I don't think this is the game being smart and meta. I actually would love to be enlightened on how the game fucked up a lot of things (which it did, even though it's my favorite game out of the two it just bullshitted it's way through. It's my favorite trainwreck) John is also my favorite character, because of the way /I/ played my story. Like you said, every stories different. So I'd love to see the way he behaved with other versions truly tie into his character and who he is because you technically only see whoever he wants you to see depending on how you play.

Okay so John IS my favorite character (even though his character personality changed every episode we're gonna ignore that) I'm probably biased because of how I played to say he's my favorite because my version of him is different than others. BUT something I note now looking back on it, I made a LOT of bad desicions, horrible decisions morality wise, because I wanted to feed into John's wishes since the moment you question John's morality or what he's doing he gets mad at you and I'm just now realizing how TOXIC that is! When your in any relationship romantically or platonically, you have to be able to look at both sides and John never once considers that he does terrible things even if he doesn't mean to and that not everyone would feel safe with that? Bruce is a dick for using him to get into the pact but the moment you go anywhere away from John's sense of Justice or what he thinks Bruce should do, he gets pissed and blames you later for it. You can never control mental illness, I understand that, but you can't blame Bruce for when he doesn't feed into your destructive behavior John. I think because I'm a people pleaser I didn't notice, but John always goes down because he never considers he's in the wrong.
Also when you say he needs to get help and he gets MAD after he KILLED PEOPLE and had had violent tendencies after Arkham still WTF BRO WHY ARE YOU SAYING I DONT CARE ABT YOU WHEN I SAID THAT BECAUSE I /DO/ CARE AUUGHH
FINALLY SOMEBODY UNDERSTANDS 😂 John is either extremely socially awkward and doesn't realize he's a gaslighter, or he does realize and he's only acting just to get his way. Both of these theories are valid I think. Before you'll agree on an analytical Telltale video, consider this wall of text;
That would be a very difficult video to make. Not impossible, but difficult. See - Telltale is about YOU and how YOU'VE experienced the story, and I'm 100% positive my experience was totally different from yours. You responding differently to some seemingly meaningless bullshit John said in episode 2 may change your whole perspective - not even because your answer made John behave differently for the rest of the game, but because his reaction changed your whole opinion on him. That's why many people think he's a precious cinammon roll, even tho he's a gaslighting snake, sorry John fangirls, you must embrace the truth if you want an analysis. And what's the point of analysing something we all understood differently and nobody even knows how it's meant to be "correctly"?
And another thing is, ehhh, how to say it nicely :D.... The Telltale devs, they just... don't plan ahead, I guess we can all agree on that. They're known for making the story up as they go - episode by episode - retconning the rest of their lore in the process. And thus a lot of times I don't see John acting off as a clue to the true nature of his character, I genuinely just see that as the developers being incompetent xp
Most of the the times. Sometimes I think they're really trying to hint at something. And the circle closes - again - that's just me cherrypicking what I like - personalized experience. And ALL of this would be extremely clear in the potential analysis. Especially because it would end up being kinda messy, as, to this day, I genuinely don't understand this Joker. While I personally see that as a good thing - you're never supposed to know Joker's true intentions - again, I don't think this is the game being smart and meta. I think it's the developers having a day off XD You see what I mean?

I actually would love to be enlightened on how the game fucked up a lot of things (which it did, even though it's my favorite game out of the two it just bullshitted it's way through. It's my favorite trainwreck) John is also my favorite character, because of the way /I/ played my story. Like you said, every stories different. So I'd love to see the way he behaved with other versions truly tie into his character and who he is because you technically only see whoever he wants you to see depending on how you play.

Bro can we all just come to a compromise. John is manipulative on purpose occasionally but normally because he wants you to stay.
