Always appreciate working with you guys on challenging pours like this. 25 years of pumping concrete now, and this one here definitely goes down as one of my most, if not THE most memorable jobs which we have been part of. 👊👊👊
This is just wild!!!!!! 100% the best video you’ve ever posted ! Even better that that one with Brett Michaels acting a fool lol. What a cool job! I will say I love that they allowed you to wet it up. My Shotcrete customer refuses! Has to be at least a 2” slump for him but to him even that’s too wet.
Thanks Chris. With a pour like this, the pool company is quite understanding as to the fact that the mud is going to have to be a little more loose than what is typically ideal for them. This crew is top-notch to work with, and as such are very accommodating on a specialty pour like this one. 100% my most favourite video which I’ve ever shot!!!
I LOVE Alan Woods, he is the freakin man! Unfortunately the last time I talked to him he said he was having some health concerns, I hope and pray he's doing well...he's saved my bacon a bunch of times.
He is such a great guy. Helped us out a ton over the years. Always a voice of good, constructive criticism. I have a lot to be thankful for which I learned from him,
@@canadianconcretepumper1979 Me too, I can't even count the number of exchanged emails or phone calls to get his opinion...or to have some German diagrams translated 🤣. @@JamesSinclair. the reduction in size from material cylinder to outlet hose isn’t nearly as drastic with Ian’s pump (6” material cylinder) versus the boom pump (9” material cylinder). It’s that reduction which causes the shotcrete mix to so funky things (eg: buildup).
So about your S-tube comments...what do you think causes that? Obviously the dry mud is a factor, but is it just because of how slow a big pump kit is moving material? Because I'm used to pumping really dry mud often for civil work and I've never run into it...but I'm always moving a lot of material pretty quickly.
It is a function of reducing down from a 9" material delivery cylinder to a 2" discharge hose coupled with a mix design which does not have enough aggregate to "self-clean" the S-tube and material cylinders and low volume/high-pressure.
@canadianconcretepumper1979 ahhh sure. I don't do shotcrete... I'm doing dry mud but still with 1.5" rock most of the time so that makes a lot of sense. That really does look like something out of a horror movie.
Not enough... never enough.. Lol!!! Quite honestly though, the amount of pre-planning and overall stress level leading up to these pours most definitely constitutes the fairly substantial invoice. 😄😄😄
@@canadianconcretepumper1979 I was watching when the Minorcan Mullat drone took a swim in the harbor at Baltimore. It was almost 100 yds from the boat when it went in.
The slide housing is too short. The aperture of the hole in the slide plate allowed the slurry to pass through. The hole in the slide needs to be completely covered by the housing fully open. Design fault. 😅 🎉
Thanks to your knowledge and willingness to do the job it was easy for us to get it done. Not sure what we would have done without you…..thanks Scott!

Very cool. Is the process unique here because its for a pool pour? Is a standard suspended slab pumped the same way?
Why wouldn't there be a small whole of build up pumping through Ian's pump like the picture shown of build up in the boom?
