Well it's easy. Close your eyes, block out the drummer and saxophonist and listen to the bass only. This is my first time viewing this. I was able to keep up
Chris Dave is one of those great drummers who doesn't receive enough recognition in my opinion! Its been a long time since I watched this video but thanks for sharing!!! DRUMMERS UNITE!!!
I'm old school jazz fan bird, Oscar Peterson, the miles Davis 59 ensemble is what he needs, Coltrane, cannonball, billevans, Paul Chambers, Billy Cobb, wynton Kelly greatest band ever. Billy Cobb great, art Blakey, Elvin jones was insane drummer, different style buddy rich was most raw talent for beat, but added element of groove like weather report once Jaco came on board moving away from swing just rhythm section drumming Chris is best drummer for me. Listen to drumheadz but love to see him part of composition style playing with guys that push even him. Sum of parts saying....open ears. Cory Henry's drummer Frome Holland perfect example. Silky smooth
This is like a living example of having too many tabs open at once with multiple youtube vids playing. Thought the bass player was gonna crap out a metronome.
It is really amazing that no one making a comment about this video realizes that the bass player in this video, Foley, played for MILES DAVIS!!!! HELLO, COME ON MAN!!!! However, I am really not suprised that no one mentioned that though!!
I want to learn how to sweep and swing like Chris he is extremely musical and the trio is very interesting to hear man the timing was key also creativity.
I appreciate this a lot. But I wish I was more educated on this piece it just seems like pretentious bullshit to me. Like I know it’s a demonstration on all their inner metronomes but fuck it sounds like shit
Foley is playing the bassline to “lickin stick” by James Brown while Zhenya comes in with the melody to Thelonious Monk’s ‘Criss Cross’. Chris Dave is alternating between the two. I loved finding common ground between jazz and hip-hop, hearing the melody and bassline overlap at different points to create almost incidental grooves. Plus they’re all killing players, needless to say
That bass man...nerves of steel lol i would have lost my timing so many times there
adrien baisden Bruh I’m telling you, I would’ve most definitely walked away
well he played for Miles Davis so

When the devil tryna throw you off task but you say “not today Satan” 🔥
The metronome in the head of the bass player is priceless!! I mean seriously!! He makes what Chris does that much more great!!!
What a distraction that drummer and horn player was. 🤣🤣
Saw him play live in London a few years ago. Absolutely amazing. One of the best drummers in history.
He is what a jazz drummer should sound like....one of the best if not the best in the world
As a bassist I''m so blown away so much from both of them but especially the dude holding down the low end, that's crazy good concentration
That bass player is crazy😎😎😎😌
Smooth cool insane patterns especially with one hand.👍🏾👍🏾 He looks so relaxed playing

Now you see where Spanky got his inspiration from!!!
