    I like to have a GB project solely for my drums and then bounce that to apply in the song.

    Total DAW noob here, @ 1:28 the green midi track window pops up on 2nd drum track, what do you press to do that? I feel you're a little fast for new guys but great info 👍🏻✌🏻

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! The 2nd track is a midi track, so if you copy the drummer and paste it onto that track, it will paste as midi info instead of drummer

      @@TheBandGuide Oh right, thanks. Literally unboxed my first Mac & opened GarageBand 1st time ever today. Have seen friends use DAW so figured I'd give it a go. 👍🏻

    I’ve posted this on a couple of GarageBand Facebook groups. I’ve done videos like this on my channel but only for iOS. Great to see a video on splitting drums for Mac. Hopefully you get some new subs from it. Great work!

    Perfect video timing. I am not happy with my drum mix on a track I’m currently working on and this is just what I need to get more control over the different sections!! Great video. P.s. found this via Jade Starr who shared in a GB Facebook group!

    Something else I find useful is if I want a run of snare or tom hits to gradually increase in volume going into the edit mode and changing the velocity of each hit to give me the desired increasing level. Also handy if I don't want all the kick hits the same volume, common with real drummers.

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! The GB drummer does a pretty good with slightly varied velocities throughout but I definitely spend time making sure they are what I want

    After watching the previous series of videos giving the drums more life at what point do you split all those tracks into individual parts? Or do you mix these down to one track (somehow) before adding the complain,etc??? So many questions. But it's great working along to these videos.

    Great info!
    Must say i feel ashame that I never thought of this simple way of using the drum mixer and just mute the drums instead of copying and erase the drums you don't want to sound for each channel. GOD! why make things easy when you can complicate things ha ha!
    Thanks a lot for reminding me how stupid I am :)

      @@TheBandGuide I wonder about the possibility to arrange garagebands drums in the sampler. Meaning to pick your favourite sound from different kit and place them on specific keys in the sampler and build your own kit. I know you can achieve same effect with other methods but it seems that i can't find any internal samples from garagebands own drums. Are they hidden somewhere? Otherwise it seems that i have to use external samples.
      Any ideas about this would be much appreciated :)

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can if it’s a midi loop! Some of the loops are audio loops, though. Those won’t be able to be separated

    is there any possible way to turn a recorded electric drum into parts like that ?

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are recording into midi, yes! You could duplicate the track to create multiple tracks then just delete the midi information for everything except the track you are creating (ie everything but the kick, snare, etc)

    Hi Colin, great video! I have a question: I fiddled with the controls (such as “room” and the individual drum piece knobs and added a bit more compression) on my original drummer track. But now I would like to separate my drums like you’ve shown here. Will the settings that I messed with be carried over to my midi tracks? I’m thinking and hoping no because I’m just copying data in the region and not copying the settings of the drummer track itself (I hope I’m making sense here.) Can you confirm? Thanks so much! Subscribed 👍

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kim- thanks! The settings won't carry over from a drummer track to a midi since it is a "software instrument" track, but if you set the settings on the first midi track and then duplicate that from that track for the new tracks, any of the changed settings will copy over. Does that make sense?
      Thank you for subscribing!
