D-Low taught me this sound, and it took me about 4 weeks to get it to beginner level. Now, after several months, I can do a spit snare in a few ways, thanks D-Low!
It took me 1 week to learn the spit snare Even though it's been three weeks since then I still can't use it in beat because my focus is on liproll and I learned it as well Now I am trying throat bass and it's really hard.

I'm a huge fan of this tutorial style. Explain history if possible, demonstrate multiple ways to perform technique, and all explained thoroughly. Great job. You've also convinced me that I'm on my way to doing the spit snare, rather than my thoughts of me being stuck in terrible form.

My parents would tell you that I was annoying them with that sound in the mid 90s, and probably still have the cassettes tapes that I used to record my first beats on, haha. I already can do that sound and mastered it( Just the upper lip technique). But there is always a way of improvement and clean in up, especially when dlow is teaching . Big ups bro love your videos. ESH!

I mastered this sound around 8 months ago, gotten much better. You have to spend some time with it to get it consistent. I also found it crazy how I learned the lip roll in a week (like how tf) but I still haven’t mastered inward bass after practicing for around 5 months :( still trying tho :) never give up!

Thanks for the tutorial! Now I finally understood how the sound is actually made. I watched other explanations and they just confused me. Also the video gave me a good advise how to check if I make lip sounds right. Just hum while practicing the sounds!

Wow! I was doing bottom lip for ages, now I have watched this video I realise its easier to transition to the next sound from the top lip. The bottom lip leaves my jaw further forward after Pushing out air and I have to reset more. I think top lip FTW Thanks Dlow

Hey there D-low, I'm loving all of these tutorials, so helpful! I have a technical question: What are the pros and con of the spit snare vs the K snare? While I'm learning and getting the muscle memory, is one easier to learn with than the other? Is one easier when starting to combine sounds than the other? Granted, I'm sure it's a matter of preference but I'm looking to see what will bring max result while learning/ practicing. Thank you in advance, I would love to hear your thought on this.
I have not mastered spit snare yet, but the clap snare (KCH snare, used to be k snare) is a little bit deeper and usually louder. Spit snare can be made into double and triple spit snare which people like inertia and colaps prove to be useful, but generally spit snare sounds more clean and it's quicker. It all depends on what your using it with. For example, if your doing like really deep inward bass, you could use either (in this case you would want to decide based on if you want to be aggressive or layed back on the beat,) if you are doing lip rolls or inward liproll bass, KCH snare is useful. But if you doing like a hum or just regularly singing, do spit snare. Just a tip: spit snare is good for doing like combos and freestyling.

An awesome tutorial. Struggled at first but after a couple of hours of practice it started ti sound like a snare. Tried top lip over lapping versus bottom lip overlapping and I felt like the former sounded cleaner.
One of my personal favorite beatbox sounds is definitely the liproll but i never fought i could get it because i never understood it, so i started with your tutorial (plus like 2-3 to understand the idea of how to do it) and managed to get it decently in like 2 days, and after a couple of weeks i think im good enough on it.
Tried to learn this for a month without any help, and got it after like 30 seconds with this video. Cant tell if your good or im bad (its very much both)
Just got the sound. I already think it is good enough for me to put in a beat but I will practice a bunch. I really like that you can do this sound while humming. I just did it while humming throat bass and it sounded great.
