- 2005 Female World Beatbox Champion Butterscotch explains the art of beatboxing in 13 levels of difficulty. Starting with just the bass drum, Butterscotch layers more and more vocal drums and instruments on top of each other until she starts adding real, live instruments as well.

I feel so bad for the editor who had to coordinate the flashing boxes during the fast beatboxing part.
I had the same thought lol. It's a cool effect, but it's so tedious.
On the bright side, they probably only had to do it for one loop, since it's pretty repetitive.
they probably just looked at the wave forms for auditory peaks
Well it looks like easy to make for a beatboxer, it was basics routines and classics sounds so
@@RogueCowTurd sure, but there seems to be a correlation to the DB and the white fade. That'd be interesting to see if I can do that in ffmpeg.
her looking the way she does, being a beatboxer, and being called Butterscotch is like a triple hit "you will never be cool as me" combo as soon as you open the video

Amod Gawade dude it spreads on surfaces as well. So I guess holding things is a bad idea too. Ig we should cower in our rooms and not do anything .... idiot
Honestly the best thing about this video is how she carries and presents herself: calm, clear, passionate about her craft and most of all endearingly genuine.
This is an unashamed (and rightfully so) tribute and masterclass to something which has obviously inspired her, motivated her and given her an outlet for creativity and freedom of expression through vocalism and musicianship. Skills which have no doubt taken her years of practice to hone, and now she is passing on tips and techniques to help others.
"In the old days" people didn't have help and advice like this, they had to figure things out for themselves, experiment and push themselves. The thing that is still just as true now is that people are still experimenting, still pushing themselves and the limits of what is possible, to create new techniques and sounds and, as she points out in the video, bring their own unique qualities and style in finding their own 'voice'.
With respect, congrats Butterscotch!

Butterscotch, ty for this amazing video! As a belly dancer and teacher, percussion is primal and vital to me and what I do. It's the heartbeat of planet Earth, and you show us so clearly how to do it with our mouths, one of our most portable instruments. Plus, you play other instruments; such beautiful talent. I follow other beat boxers, and I will recommend you to my friends, colleagues, students, and teenage son. Ty for sharing your unique artistry and for teaching. You've inspired me to learn more, which is what the best teachers do! 🌺❤️

Well she didnt invent the boots and cats thing
@@nunubot9825 the boots and cats has been around for much longer than her
As someone who's had an interest in beatboxing for a while now, it was really great seeing someone so positive and passionate explain every single step about what they do in such great detail. I also appreciate the fact that Butterscotch didn't let her own weaknesses overcome her - the fact that she can't go low didn't mean she couldn't beatbox, only that she decided to adapt instead and does it well regardless.
This is definitely one of my favourite "Levels of ___", huge thanks to Butterscotch for auditing for this!

This takes heart. I have been playing saxophone, guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and to some degree ukulele and trumpet for about 28 years. I am also a master vocalist. But my main instrument is scoring or composing. This is composing the meat of a song with just your mouth. You could just program this on a score or piano roll....but pretty cool if this is your prefered method. Much respect.
Butterscotch you really opened my eyes, ears, and soul to your amazing beatbox world! It's so spiritual and sensual at the same time.
