When Cody tweeted earlier in the day, that was my clue that Jey was winning. Then they posted the video of Rhea watching his entrance and I really knew it.
I thought Bron losing would be a bad idea, then I saw the reaction of the crowd and realised that it was right for Jey to get the title. After thinking on it for a few hours I like it. Having Gunthers long reign was great, but now having a few people win it quickly it makes Gunther more impressive and also makes a mid card where anyone can win because they are all on the same level. Makes the title matches unpredictable and when someone does hold it for a while makes that more impressive
I've been telling my friend this and he doesn't understand. I told him Jey is on a hot streak and that takes precedence over the situation. The match put over both men tho. Bron didn't look weak at all. The door is open for him to do even more
Putting the championship on Jey is a great decision because he is still hot even though i don't think he'll hold it for much long ,I'm expecting Bron to win it back after Bad Blood or sometime before Crown Jewel or at Crown Jewel
My thoughts exactly, you look at Gunther's reign and realized how powerful he was, he win over a midcard that is so powerful that anyone can win over anyone, but they couldn't take on Gunther
I 1000% went into today believing Bron Breakker would retain because it was Monday Night Raw and not a Premium Live Event so when Jey Uso won I screamed and then was so overcome with emotion because I had been waiting for them to FINALLY pull the trigger on Jey Uso and it actually happened!
So well, even down to the fact they're far too talented it'd take that long. Woods always was such a well played character and had so much personality he ended up almost seeming the mascot for the New Day but dude's been a good wrestler even long before WWE, those who seen him in TNA knew he was a talent for pushing (if not) 20 years now. I get thinking it's quick for Bronn to drop the title but it is time to do something with Jey and as was said, the reaction says it all. Please it doesn't hurt Breaker as long as you keep booking him strong, he just lost to a hungry vet and something tells me he's gonna be the one to beat Jey for it to "Get his heat back"
@yureion actually bron could have a run at gunther and learn from every match the announcers all they have to do is say is that something new he's trying or wow that's a different approach at least he'd be in main event conversation I'm betting jey and Sheamus will have a fued down the line because like randy chasing cena and flairs championship numbers Sheamus needs a ic run to complete his legacy
The only thing that makes sense on this title change is 2 things. 1. Next Monday, Bronn demands his rematch at Bad Blood, where he wins after Bloodline interference after learning Solo is disgusted/jealous that Jey has a title, and he doesn't. Sets up WarGames. 2. Similar to what Oli said, this sets the character of Bronn underestimating credible opponents, but comes back and conquers.
Okay, I had to miss last night's Raw, figured I could guess the outcomes and I'd watch it tonight before/after NXT. I saw the thumbnail and said, "Wait what?" Out loud to my empty home. Did not see that coming but I'm happy for Jey. He's been killing it and he deserves this
I was thinking jimmy might help him win just to get him and jey talking again but after that roman cody promo I think it's gonna be awhile yet before we get paul and jey on tv for storyline to play out
I think they did the right thing with this. Bron is 26 years old and they've done quite a good job in enstablishing him so far. I'm not afraid for him, it's not like Vince is still writing and this is an abrupt end to a 3 weeks push. Jey Uso is consistently one of the most over babyfaces in WWE, he has been for a while. The window of time to do something with him as a single wrestler was closing, he lost a lot, he didn't have that big singles moment AND the Bloodline vs Bloodline is coming eventually, and it would be hard not to reunite the Usos at that point. This was the time to do something with Jey.
This was 🔥 🔥 🔥 Loved it! People always complaining online about how "predictable" something is...well....Here u go! Now move on to complaining about something else now 😂 YEET!!!
YEET. After RR's and Gunther's record breaking title runs, I honestly think we need more quick turn-arounds. Short reigns (especially in the mid card scene) can be a lot of fun. Keeps people on their toes.
I absolutely love that Jey won not ONLY because he's gotten over despite the whining the IWC has done; but because there's people actually melting down over it. There's even people crying about how quiet folks were. It's hilarious when they do that nonsense, not realizing that titles aren't anything more than a prop. Bron doesn't need the IC title anymore he could legit transition into the world title picture. Whereas Jey's likely heading back for tag team action after this likely brief run. Let him have his damn moment. Boy's got more moves than anyone of you crybabies in the comments does. Folks can't let no one have nothing.
I can see the argument that it's too early for Bron to lose, but like, freeing up Bron for future world title bouts, putting the belt on a guy who's been chasing a single title for years, and finally a singles title change on tv! The weekly shows do feel more important when there's the threat of someone losing the title, even if it's early. I'm excited. Also the match was just like, a really fun watch. Both guys put in a great performance and the crowd loved it
It’s really too bad that Bron had such a short intercontinental championship title reign! Not only did he lose his second title defense he was only champion for 51 days! that might be a high number but in WWE that low for him, if WWE is going to have Jey as IC champion now I hope he at least keeps it for a while.
I think it makes sense story wise and reaction wise that if Jey has a short title run, you have to consider him winning the Royal Rumble. While all his family is fighting for who is Tribal Chief, Jey wins the championship but doesn't want to be Chief.
They did it twice too. Not a single other channel I subscribe to did it even once for this but these jerks managed to do it twice. There's a rather sizable amount of fans who watch the next day for whatever reason and it sucks bumping into two spoilers from the same channel.
YEET As well as it being overdue to put a title on Jey (I know there are naysayers, but having been in an arena for a Jey match and entrance this year, the man is money right now) it also pushes back on a big Triple H book criticism. Up until now, he has been big on his long reigns and Big Four only title changes (except for the tag belts, because lol, and the Women's World but injuries and contracts). A shorter reign and a title change on RAW just in the middle of a PLE cycle injects some much needed "what if" energy into a lot of defenses going forward, which hopefully makes the slow autumn period more exciting.
It’s a good call. Bron has a lot of time ahead of him and WWE clearly already has big plans for him. One title loss isn’t going to even affect his momentum. To add to that, it is well past time that they either put a singles title on Jey, or stopped the “Main Event” thing. And the title changing in RAW is also a good thing. Adds value to those defenses when it’s less a foregone conclusion that the champion retains. A win-win-win.
Please get Luke to think about how Bron was booked in NXT, when he was being introduced to the main roster audience (not called up). He lost the title to Ziggler. He got it back. Bron loses, learns and then potentially wins again. Jey needed this.
Gonna brag for a sec: I totally called that Jey would win. They been hyping the fact that he hasn’t won a title and they needed something to show for Jey’s single’s run before he returns to the bloodline. I don’t think he’s holding it long and he’s gonna drop it right back to Breaker, who’s the right guy for the belt long term but is going through a “too cocky to beat the veterans” storyline. This one was just for the moment and wow… what a moment. Best raw match of the year.
I love the roman angle. I don't want to take the belt off Gunther, but imagine Roman surrounded by his teammates, all with titles and him without one. That visual and his facial expressions would be historic. As much as I want cody/ randy and bloodline vs bloodline 2000, Roman standing in the middle of Cody, Sami, and Jey all with titles would be amazing.
Watched your videos for a while but I don't normally comment on youtube at all. I feel like you guys are missing a trick here. There is a potential that Jey Winning the belt gives Roman and Jimmy a reason to "respect" him again and build towards a war games match against the new blood-line Also when Sammi loses against Gunther, Bronn can show up and say he is the guy who beat the guy that beat you, have a great world title shot and probably lose but not look weak in a hard fought match. Giving Jey enough time as champ and elevating Bronn to potential further championship matches
Wargames is gonna be interesting. Romans come back to a WWE inwhich: Cody has his championship Jey is now a champion and a main event success Heyman and Jimmy aren’t here (for now) And Solo has gone from enforcer to being the leader of his own dominant Bloodline. The exact opposite of how he left things/how things worked when Roman was champion
8:05 well said, and it's been a long time since this "problem" has happened, how long has it been when you see two big stars, and you legitimately have no idea who's gonna win. This doesn't hurt Bron bc we all know he's a future World Champion anyway, and he could possibly win it back, bc Jey has a Bloodline sized target on him, so if he's gonna get sucked back into that, if he's gonna be a singles champion, if not now then when? Definitely curious now to see what happens next
Went to sleep early about halfway through Raw and this was a surprise to see waking up! Though given a beat, I don't think it's bad, just early. I could even see Jey beating Bron as a good decision after a longer Bron run. Maybe it's just the long runs of Roman and Gunther that have conditioned me to think under 2 months isn't a good reign. But he has only been on Raw 5 months. He has plenty of time to do a lot more.
A long title run doesn't necessarily make a wrestler better. The beef Jey and Bron had this path month showed that Bron definitely has alot of grit. There have been wrestlers that held the world title for months and produced nothing out of that. Bron actually showed promise
To start I still think that Tamina thing yesterday was unnecessary but I’m gonna give this a Yeet. Bron Breakker has his whole career ahead of him. Winning it so early wasn’t the best move because be either wins it right back, beats Gunther, or falls down the card which unfortunately needs to happen. Then after Jey has a decent run have him lose the title in a multiman match maybe a fatal four way or something where Bron after beleaguering against opponents he doesn’t know as well as Sammy sometimes winning sometimes losing he pins Sammy in the four way to win
I think the plan changed after rikishi came out and talked about the way they were booking his son. He was very unhappy and was not very private about it and said that if they aren't going to use them properly or give him a title then maybe he should take a sabbatical and step back for a bit. That's why I think they did this this early.
Was hoping he would get the win but man did I not see him winning coming. I thought it was slightly to early for bron to lose it but I’m satisfied with that match
I’m a few episodes behind on the podcast of Luke and Dan discussing what’ll happen with Jey and if he’ll win a belt. I really hope the don’t take it off him again like Sami so soon. But my first thought was, what about war games and how does this play in to it?
It's not the time for Bron to be losing the belt? We don't know what story they're going to tell. He lost Sami, then he beat Sami. Maybe they're actually telling a long-term story with breaker about how he's still a rookie, he's still learning but he learns quick. Maybe he's taking this one loss to Jey, only to win it back the next time they meet. He takes a loss but he learns, he's a rookie learning on the job. No, you could argue. They could've told the story with Seamus instead of Jey, because Seamus has that as his Watton quest as well. But either way, I think it's a story about Bron breakers development. Also, if you want to look at it from a non-kayfabe point of view. Maybe they don't want to create another Brock Lesnar of 2002. The guy that gets pushed to the moon, given everything and then decides he's too big for wrestling so decides to take his ball and go home. Maybe they want to push a little bit slower so Bron doesn't feel that WWE need him more than he needs them.
YEET. I think Luke surmised it perfectly. It is unfortunate timing for now because Jey is long overdue. And Bronnis hung and good enough for this to just be a trivia answer in 5 years.
Yeet !!!! I did think Judgement Day would interfere because of Jey's involvement with them and the Terror Twins. This result was a long time coming and well deserved.
My opinion on Bron is, he will be totally fine. It does not hurt him one bit in my opinion. They hammered home that Bron is literal months into his main roster run, he has many many reigns in his future, and jey needed to win gold in this title run for it to be worth it. Correct decision in my opinion
I feel like it gives a great set up for jey to enter the bloodline feud . The bloodline isn’t happy seeing jey successful so on his next defense they interfere he drops the belt . Now he has a reason to align with Roman because they will have a mutual enemy again
I think this is very good long term booking for Bron breaker. Remember when we also thought Bron would easily win at MITB? This could be a character arc that culminates him being a Paul Heyman guy or smth later down the line
I feel the original plan was to have Sami and Jey win the tag belts until WWE saw they could get the lucha bros and are now waiting for them to dethrone Jd and Finn.
Anyone who says "This buries Bron" is just wrong. People said it the first time he lost to Sami too. He just got drafted like 6 months ago. His carreer is just starting.
I honestly thought Jey Uso was gonna lose the match last night.
Same. I kept on telling everyone that he's losing
Agreed; I’m curious on where they’re going with this but I’m overall just surprised Bron’s title run was so fast…
@@TheeCTK01think they’ll push him to the WHC race
I didn’t believe it until i heard the 3 it was insane😊

Jay is so over. He wrestled Drew on a dark match at Smackdown and boy Jay is mad over, so is Drew.

Rikishi's comments about Jey Uso's booking paid off last night. He did it for the YEET.
He commented on Jacob fatu saying there rushing him.
Now this comment took me back lol! Props to you my friend.
i love watching Luke watch wrestling

Jeys story and woods story kinda link up both trying to win a singles title

No way they're actually gonna try to recreate Brett vs Owen for the IC title, but with the Usos 😂
No cause jimmy going face ..
Triple H is never gonna book that match again.
Why are ppl saying they were expecting for Jimmy to interfere on Jeys match if Jimmys problem when he returns is with Solo and the Bloodline
Each time Jey had a singles title shot, Jimmy messed it up for him, be it intentional or not.
Hot potating the IC title is a good thing, it can help elevate others and doesn’t jam up the mid card scene
The only thing that makes sense on this title change is 2 things.
1. Next Monday, Bronn demands his rematch at Bad Blood, where he wins after Bloodline interference after learning Solo is disgusted/jealous that Jey has a title, and he doesn't. Sets up WarGames.

"Shocked" feels like an understatement to describe how I felt after Jey won
Insane moment to be honest, wasn’t expecting to pull the trigger on Jey, was expecting some sort of Jimmy interference.
I was thinking jimmy might help him win just to get him and jey talking again but after that roman cody promo I think it's gonna be awhile yet before we get paul and jey on tv for storyline to play out
I was there last night at ringside. We honestly thought he won it with the first splash. Well deserved for Jey!

Jey Uso lived up to the Main Event name.
Jey uso dark match after smackdown last Friday had the largest pop of the night
Make this the podcast again! I miss seeing these two together, talking about Raw.
Finally main event lives up to his nickname and it's awesome
Let's watch Oli Yeet everywhere 😅
When Bron said something earlier in the night like "I'm gonna have this title for a loooonnnggg time." I knew it was over for him.
When I heard that Finn “wasn’t going to make it”, I was really expecting him to show up and cost Jey
YEET!! I went nuts!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
YEET CHAMPION
Get youtube premium. Come on. It's not as bad here but you make us sit through ads even on patreon.
Yeet !!!! I did think Judgement Day would interfere because of Jey's involvement with them and the Terror Twins. This result was a long time coming and well deserved.
Bro 7 AM and I’m already getting spoiled on last nights raw
It’s 12pm Uk time
One of these near falls should be in the Top 10 of 2024
My opinion on Bron is, he will be totally fine. It does not hurt him one bit in my opinion. They hammered home that Bron is literal months into his main roster run, he has many many reigns in his future, and jey needed to win gold in this title run for it to be worth it.
Correct decision in my opinion
This makes the decision to have Jey lose the US title match to Theory last year even more baffling in hindsight imo
Don't know what is more shocking...Jey winning or the fact it happened on RAW...
I feel like it gives a great set up for jey to enter the bloodline feud . The bloodline isn’t happy seeing jey successful so on his next defense they interfere he drops the belt . Now he has a reason to align with Roman because they will have a mutual enemy again
For Bron, you just need to make sure his next program is a good one.
I think this is very good long term booking for Bron breaker. Remember when we also thought Bron would easily win at MITB? This could be a character arc that culminates him being a Paul Heyman guy or smth later down the line
So where does that leave Roman?
@@sonic5993 Roman doesn't need Heyman and I'm talking a year or two down the line
I feel the original plan was to have Sami and Jey win the tag belts until WWE saw they could get the lucha bros and are now waiting for them to dethrone Jd and Finn.
Ontario, California, Ollie. Not Canadian.
Anyone who says "This buries Bron" is just wrong. People said it the first time he lost to Sami too. He just got drafted like 6 months ago. His carreer is just starting.
