    Great video! We were stuck attempting to load for three hours when we were away at a clinic thankfully Vet was able to help us with sedation to get the horse on the trailer. I can’t ever go through that again! Looking forward to using the information in this video and, putting it to good use in some positive and effective trailer training.

    You mentioned not liking the "work him away, and rest at the trailer, method" at the end of your vid. I do use this technique, but only as a first fase. Fact is that the horse is a prey animal and being stuck in a small box is its worst nightmare. I use that technique to take away his initial fear and negative association it has with the trailer. That way, when I get to the next fase, I can start asking him to go in without crossing any emotional barriers. Your technique works fantastic, but it is asking a lot and imo very stressful for the horse. I would only use that if I need to pick up the horse in order to train it better once back home. But I believe you also said that at the very end. I prefer the work-away-and-rest-at-the-trailer method because at no time will you go to quick and damage the relationship. In the end ty do connect the dots and will do it because I tell them to.

    Just wanted to thank you for your video.....I have a mustang that I started who was injured in a trailer (and had a few very stressful rides before that as well). He’s been through a lot of training and is doing great but we haven’t been able to go anywhere because the loading issue has been horrendous. I started using the method in your video 2 days ago and today we trailered out to 3 different locations and got on and off quietly and calmly. I’m so grateful.....no more marathon sessions in the blazing sun for hours on end. I’ve been following you for a while and what you do is always inspiring.

    Finally, a horse that acts like mine, except for the head flinging and running you over parts, and a technique I can use alone to teach her to load.

    Added to my toolbox. I've pushed some in like cattle when the job had to get done but I like this approach so much better since the horse is making choices and learning something. I can hardly wait to try this.

    We put alfalfa in the trailer then went inside for hours. She went in then didn't want to come out. We just left it like that for a good while, she did great. She a mustang.

    HINT: I knew someone who had these issues. she painted the inside of the trailer white, her horses then just stepped right in. horses are prey animals, they dont like going into a small dark space that they cant see well in.

    Start your horse at a young age to eat in the trailer, then when you ready to go put food in, once it's in close the door. Lol 😂

      If you’re good enough and your setup is good.
      The tricky part is the amount of pressure a person should use and when to release. If either of those are slightly off then it won’t work.

    My mare she will go in the trailer than just spook. She is a broke broke mare and this is our first time loading her in. She got it and she was ok so we gave her a treats then we hooked her up and she was pulling on the tie down and just ripped it off the trailer. It’s in a half so we have no idea what to do

    • @Lauren-vd4qe

      paint the inside of the trailer white, put sawdust or straw on the floor to make it light colored. wait for all fumes to dissipate ie a few days.

    Not everyone has a round pen to do this kind of training. To many other ways to do this without stressing the horse out.

    • @moorehorsemanship
      @moorehorsemanship  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You can actually do this with any shape pen, doesn’t have to be round!
      This is a quick method people can use in an emergency. If there’s a wildfire coming for your property, are you going to leave your horse behind because you don’t want to “stress” them out by loading them in the trailer? Probably not. 😉

    Evryone has their own ideas on loading a horse into a trailer. I much prefer watching Pat Parelli's way. He doesn't stress the horse at all. Lets the horse get used to the trailer and the horse thinks it's his/her idea to get in. This video is painful to watch as the guy is using FEAR escape instinct on this horse.

    • @moorehorsemanship
      @moorehorsemanship  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not using fear, just normal pressure and release. 🙂
      This particular horse was stressed out as soon as she walked out of her barn and saw the trailer even from far away, the trailer was a huge stressor for her and we helped her realize it was no big deal!

      Great come back! Idiots like that you will have. They don't have a life and want to be negative. If you don't like this way don't watch and move on plenty of others to view. Geez a fricken horse gets stressed just trying to lead them on either way she would of been stressed. Something new and being away from the other horses causes stress on them. My gosh people stop! Every horse has been stressed at one time. So now is this a new thing like for people we can't hurt your feelings? Well Every one's feelings need to get hurt to become stronger. FACT. 😂😅😅
