First Day of the R211S Revenue Service! - The R211S Inaugural Run on the SIR! (10/08/2024)

- Welcome aboard on the new R211S Fleet!
On October 8th, 2024, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority finally debuted the R211S type cars onto the Staten Island Railway, it’s been 51 years since the SIR received new fleet of cars with the last one being the R44’s which were inaugurated in 1973, due to their old age, the R44’s faces mechanical problems and are becoming unreliable, so the MTA ordered hundreds of new subway cars from Kawasaki, Japan, this is a first of the SIR and is a historical moment in history of the Transit Authority, many other rail fans alike came down to Staten Island to get a glimpse of these new cars running on the rails.
The ride towards Tottenville that was filmed is the first ever SIR Express Train to run the R211S, it was a pleasure to meet other transit enthusiasts and enjoy the inaugural ride, the Staten Island Railway is on its way to be modernized and better for SIR commuters.

I rode it today from my High school. So much less rocking when riding it compared to the R44, (It would feel like it would flip over in any turn) I would miss the R44 still.
