Hi, I'm planning to be an au pair in Australia so I'm looking for people that already did it to have some advice. Did you paid taxes on the allowance that the family gave to you? And did you do the working with children check? Because I'm using au pair world and it says that working holiday maker have to pay taxes and that I need this check to work with children but the family says I don't need. I can't find anything official about the au pair so I am really confused
Hi Ali, I am mostly referring to travel insurance (make sure you are covered even though you are considered as a worker when au pairing), but I'd definetly make sure that basic health care is covered. The first three months I vas covered by an insurance I bought along with my plane tickets. The last months I was covered by EuropAssistance. I can't really tell if the insurance was all that great, since I did not have to use them, but on paper they covered the things I needed
Hi there, yes I did meet a couple, so you can definitely become an au pari. There are less male au pairs though which I believe is a mix of some families specifically wanting women and less guys applying. Hope you find a great host family!
I love this video! I haven't seen one like this yet and it was super helpful! I'll be going in september
Thank you so much! So glad it helps you guys out. I wish you the best in regards to your trip!

Hey, I'm going to be an Aupair in Australia soon, too. And I have the same question with the taxes. Did you already find an answer to it?

Did you have to pay your own ticket??
When you mentioned insurance were you referring to health insurance? If so, what company did you go through?
