  • For the past three months I have been being an au pair in a small town in Iceland. It has been the most amazing experience so I thought I would share with you a typical day in my life filled with kid cuteness! Please do comment below or reach out if you have any other specific questions about au pairing/Iceland. Enjoy! x

    Coming from the US did you need to get a visa to be an au pair in Iceland? Was the process difficult? My heart is absolutely set on being an au pair in Iceland in 2020! Love your au pair videos!

      You should do it! I was there for less than 90 days so just came on a tourist visa. However, there is a one year au pair visa many of my friends were on and I believe it's pretty straightforward to get it.

      @@amberlewis114 Yes, AuPair World. That is the best site and it is free. :)

      i’m really looking forward to having this kind of experience as an au pair, and I believe that based on my references and what I saw about Iceland, that would be my place to live❤ I really want to go now in 2023 and I am waiting for a family to get in touch with me because I am from Brazil and the process might be a little bit more difficult once the visa is kindaaa hard to get

    Hello!! I'm goigin to start this experience on January 31st, are there a community of au pairs?

    • @elainaabroad

      I suggest joining the "Au-Pair in Iceland" Facebook group. There's also a WhatsApp group, I found it super easy to meet people.

    How did you communicate with the kids? Do they talk English?

    • @elainaabroad
      @elainaabroad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Laura Vd Meijs Yes, they are half American so spoke English really well. 😊

      They got in touch with me within a few days from me messaging them on AuPair World :)

    Hi Elaina, i have a Question: Did you speak in icelandic or only in English with the Family?

    • @elainaabroad
      @elainaabroad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      English because they are 1/2 American so they wanted the kids to improve their English. :)

      @@elainaabroad Thanks for your answer! I am German and I think I want to be an AuPair in Iceland, too. But i don't know if there are any families, who would like their kids to learn German😅 Also I don't know, if my English is good enough, so hmmm 🤔😂🥰

      @@mirii215 There are SO many German au pairs in Iceland so I am sure you could find a family. Also there would be a good community of German speaking friends which I think is nice!

    Why is it that they are no boys in au pair programs

      There are, it is just less common. If you look on @aupairworld on Instagram they have some male au pairs sharing their experiences. :)
