Hey guys, Jon here from the video and I first want to say that I am extremely grateful to Kyle for not just paying the full price I listed but also for letting me be a part of one of his videos as simply just meeting him in person had made my week. And second of all, to those that keep saying the same shit saying it was overpriced don’t have any context to it. I initially had wanted to sell this pc for $350-$400 (max if i was lucky) and I listed this price on many other platforms such as OfferUp and LetGo but I had been lowballed so many times and actually been flaked on several meetups. So as a result, I ended up raising the price to $550 out of frustration and because I expected people to haggle with me and bring it down to the price I wanted. And so when Kyle messaged me I was very skeptical about it because the place of the meet up was almost 40 min from me and he offered to pay the full price. Nevertheless, thats why the price was what it was.
And for those who are saying that this was worth only $250 literally made me laugh. And I do understand that both the CPU and GPU are outdated but u guys do realize the SSD, HHD, case, fans, cpu cooler, PSU and most importantly 16gb RAM have value too? And since GPU/Ram prices are completely outrageous right now (LITERALLY a gtx 1060 back in November 2016 was $250~ and now finding one today in 2018 for $300 is considered a GOD Deal cuz they go for $380-$500 now) my point is I settled with this price even more so due to the inflation and the struggle it is to build a computer today. And finally I also took the time to wipe both drives and installing Windows 10 Pro that is activated with an AUTHENTIC license key.
And I am sure that Kyle knew he was paying more than its actual value but I think he also went with it mainly for the content for us viewers and for the follow up video that I am hyped for. And so again I just want to thank Kyle for letting me be a part of his channel. It was amazing to meet his crew and I will cherish that moment for the rest of my life.
Thanks for sharing your story, Jon. I agree, the other hardware and Win10 Pro key are completely overlooked by a lot of commenters. Another thing I should have pointed out in the video was that I didn't want to risk scaring you away by asking for a lower price (happens all the time) and ruin my chance of creating the video that week.
I've already posted a quick follow-up video to Floatplane that will drop here soon, but after hearing the feedback on this video, I may also make a piece on "how to haggle for PC parts" or similar since many viewers are upset I didn't do that here, despite haggling having *nothing* to do with this video haha.
At any rate, it was great to meet you. Glad my money went to a good natured person in the PC community.
I had people say the same thing about my system. people only look for good steals when buying hardware. its fucking annoying when your a genuine seller. and knowing that next day they are just gonna try and reup it most of the time :/
It's awesome that he didn't care about the water I've been watching splash it this whole time. xD Doesn't seem like it hurt it though.
were those mastermind nmds you were wearing?
@Bitwit No problem! and thanks again! :D

guys, don't worry. If it felt down to the fountain, you just have to let it dry a few days before turning it on. No concern about oxidation since it takes weeks of high humidity for the rusting process to operate.
*its fucking water*

SleevedBiker that’s what I thought
yeah bc the pc is running,,, you can get it wet as long as its not on thats when you short it.
its super hard to get liquid off a pcb with no guard tho
@@tabernaclejones6115 Get an air compressor and boom no water. Also let it dry for a week or so 😂

I think this was pretty dope especially since John the seller was down for being interviewed too. That not only reverberated with the PC gaming community, but also meant that he didn't just sell you some bullshit and take your money, another testament to the Craigslist community. Plus 60+ frames on Battlefield 1 at 1080p for real?? It's lit!!
Crack head's list usually isn't the best place to find bargains.
No way would Ryzen APU's even be able to run BF1 in 1080P 60fps lol
Yeah i wouldnt expect craigslist to be this decent. I used ebay for a pc and that was a terrible decision (tho shopping for parts was good so far). I think when i help my cousin get a pc, I might use craigslist too lol.
I did this about 2 months ago. Didn't get stabbed so it went well
I was just thinking that lol

This video was recommended to me. I must say, I used to play Battlefield 1 at 1080p 60fps with a 2600k, 980 reference, and 8gb of 1600mhz RAM. It's remarkably well-optimized for older and budget systems. It's funny that I've only ever had problems running it on high-end hardware, or with under 8gb of RAM.
The pc by the water gave me anxiety
Electronics are water tight. But if it was plugged in then you could have a problem. Because ionized water is conductive. Then water on electronics can make paths for electrical current to flow where there should not be any and that will short components out.
Smooth and cool runnings
Is nice that seller had his own mic installed from home. Kind of Handy haha
Great video Kyle!!! I am very new to PCs and stuff and I love your content!

When I bought the 3570k/HD7850 in DEC2012/FEB2013.... parts added up to 550 on Newegg - same exact MOBO as well....
Great video and props to Jonathan for selling a system in great condition.

It’s crazy, right now is a really good time to build a computer and it’s only been 9 months since this video has come out. Ram has come WAAAYYY down and GPUs are way down. Crazy how prices change so vastly
You are really psyching us on the start up. I been jipped a few times at these sites. Honestly, I'd run memtest to see if it is cool and hope that mismatched ram isn't messing up the dual channel. Also checking the drive for bad sectors would help.
@ 3:01 The way he was holding it made me cringe cuz i thought it was gonna fall...
Wow

It must've been so awkward for the guy to be unexpectedly meeting up and recording with Kyle.
Loved the Craigslist purchase!!! Do it again!!!!
Anyone else cringe having that pc right next to the water
The Stilo Stig I thought he was gonna drop it in when he started tilting it 😂 like maybe it was gonna be on purpose
would have made a nice title for a video.

Literally those 16gb of RAM are half of the system cost.
Ignafiltro Sanchez no that ram is worth about 100 dollars it's ddr3
gaogle censors how it performs worst then console . When games are like 25-30 fps .

Thanks heaps for your vids have help me heaps and also help me build my first pc,thanks heaps
Fun and interesting change of pace
Power supply off, connections not checked, maybe Wifesauce needs to hook up the next one :) Sorry she will always be our favorite.
I got my first gaming rig on craigslist. It served me well for years, until I built my own.
the way you held it over the fountain made me so god damn nervous
Awesome vids & guides
What is funny is how many of the people who have these tech channels forget to turn on the power supply before they hit to power button...
back 2000 or so a pal tells me he will buy a new PC... his old one no longer works after he moved it. He said the case power light came on but nothing came on the screen. I told him to check the VGA monitor cable was conected between them and saved him some money.... lol
Good deal. With PC parts prices at what there at now not bad for a used functional computer.
Gary T. They’re
i love the respect he gave jon and that he didn’t take the price down because of ketchup and mustard cables
Thanks for making me check my notifications at the beginning of the video
When that said Wednesday and had the Hangouts tune, I checked hangouts and nobody messaged me, I was so confused lol
Would’ve laughed if it fell in the fountain
If fresh water it wouldn't be ruined if dried before plugged in.

Lmao my laptop has a 1.3 GHz Dual-Core APU. I think it was the first APU ever made, and it's the only thing I've used for almost an entire decade. I got a job recently, so luckily I'll be able to get a beast PC.
Pancake A shit 5.00/hr + commissions job at a retail store.
Pancake If my calculations are correct, about 5k a year. I study in college so it's a part time job.
He just "overpaid" for it because of the guy I mean he could have bought it for cheaper but he helped out a guy who wanted to get some cash and when he said he watched his videos his hearth was melting haha I mean the point of the video was just to show us that u can buy a pc from craigslist and it will work for casual games and everything someone could need I mean he could have made a better pc from the parts he gets from manufacturers so nice video as usual and you could maybe do a video about some nice budget ultra wide monitor and peripherals
He overpaid to make his build easier. Now he has a bit more money to play with there.
Indeed we can only speculate. I still say it may have been a bit high, but based on what I've seen of the market it is far from ridiculous. I can see some folks paying it. But they'd weight the individual components differently than I do. I wouldn't have even powered the PC on with that PSU in it for instance. Why risk it? Others have their views too though. Which for them are as valid as mine are for me.
Kyle and his crew is a breath of fresh air in the community.
I did this about a month or two ago and I’m so happy I did because it works amazing , it was on there for 530 and I got it down to 380. It runs games with around 70-100 FPS and it’s really good. So happy I got it
Got a rig with a Phanteks p400, GTX 1070, i5 6500, 16 gigs of ram, and a 960 gb SSD for $825, love it :)
Justin Geer i just bought a a pretty similar pc recently, except mine was $900 and it had a ryzen 5 1600x and phanteks p400s case.
Justin Geer mines was $850 but I have a 120gb ssd you're lucky and it's funny cause a dude got mad when I said I had this build for the price when he payed 1100+ since he got top tier parts and tb ssd like his pc performed anymore different than mines he gives pc gamers a bad rep
Justin Geer pretty good deal, seeing how the 1070 alone is $800
imagine when kyle was inspecting it and he just dropped it into the fountain
Thank god he was not a Linus
When you were holding the PC near the water I was just like NOOOOOO

This would make a neat series. I'm actually debating on upgrading my (fried) PC using the components that are still good (CPU, GPU, and ram are OK, motherboard is fried) all I really need is a GPU and motherboard to be playable.

Kyle, when you have low VRAM, the extra spills over into system RAM. That's why you were at more RAM than you were thinking it should use.
Don't worry he makes enough money from youtube :P
why doesnt it get closer to cap out the gpu memory? because my gtx 760 used to use up to 2000mb when it started to stutter due to RAM usage.
The reporting of ram used is horribly inaccurate.
I watched your tiny pc battlestation And i have decided to buy it someday just gotta wait for black friday
I had that motherboard, but it's the Z77A-G43 paired with a 2500k, got me through so many games and so many years. My roommate is using it now and it's still going strong, got a rx 570 with it and he's playing MW and Apex among others at high or even very high setting and doesn't dip below 60 FPS. It's a very good starting point for a gaming PC, I think just an upgrade to the GPU and you'd never know the processor and board are from almost a decade ago.
I have no clue what he is talking about half the time XD
you start to understand after the first couple hundred videos
Did the seller keep that side-part? Not seen it after buying... :-)

I have the same cpu clocked to 4.2 on the MSI Z77A-G45 Thunderbolt. So a tad different. I bought a PC second hand (all except the psu and case) for $350 and did little upgrades here and there to increase performance. It originally came with an i5 3350P, upgraded to the 3570K for $100 used on amazon. The RX280 it came with crapped out on me so I splurged on a 1060 6gb for $280 new. Doubled the 2x4 ballistix sport 1600 for 4x4 and it handles it quite well for a dual channel mobo. The 850 Evo is definitely one of the best upgrades. The benchmarks are pretty high for the system components and I couldn't be happier with its performance
i like to haggle too, but mostly just for gas money. however, when i sell, i notice those that want the rock bottom price are usually the pickiest buyers. they want stuff at mint condition at the lowest price possible.
I managed to buy a used pc for around €350 [430USD] which came with a Intel Core i5-4570, 8GB Ram, GTX 770 2GB, 120GB SSD and a 1TB HDD, which was pretty decent, since then I upgraded the psu/gpu but still it was a bargain!
Shakk thats a lil bit overpriced
Dion Diego when converting to usd yeah, but it wasn't, it was fairly cheap compared to current jacked up prices :p
Shakk i buyed an optiplex 790 i5 2400 8 gigs of ram and added a gtx 1050 ti and got another ssd and my price came at 280 dollars
Dion Diego pretty decent :p Nice find!
Dion Diego well yeah when you buy an old office computer on ebay and stick a GPU in it well of course its gunna be cheap :p

I upgraded from the 700 series purely because of the vram limitations. When that new gen hit those cards really struggled because of them lack of vram.
I just got a pc with an i5-6600K, a 120mm liquid AIO, an MSI Z170A motherboard, 16GB of DDR4-2800 RAM, 128GB SSD, 2TB HDD, an MSI GTX 970, a cooler master TG case, a 600W 80+ PSU, a $150-200 Asus monitor, and a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2016 keyboard all for $550. I think it’s safe to say that Nextdoor is a pretty viable backup.
