How did they manage to waste Rory Kinnear?! Guess I'm glad he's presumably getting his bag, but dang. He's so good in everything, yet in this show, he's just ... there.
I’m not saying the show is perfect, but god damn did I seriously enjoy season 2. The hate it gets is over dramatic. I’m a fan of both the novels and films, and S2 of Rings of Power is good. Not perfect, but good, fun even. I really want a S3
@@RandomChannelTMBE yeh that’s very fair. I wish I had enjoyed it more but there was certainly some great moments. Despite my thumbnail and reaction to this season I also am pre keen to see s3 lol
A story (or in this context a film) taken as a whole, cannot be "great" if it isn't overwhelmingly great in the details. Plenty of series and movies can be "good" and worth watching over and over if they only have a fun plot and decent technical craft, but the acting is weak; or if the acting is incredible, but the direction and editing aren't the best; or if the special effects are insane but the story is lackluster, etc. But to be a truly "great" film or show, it must be firing on all cylinders, which this show doesn't do. From a storytelling perspective, it may be entertaining, but it isn't good at all.
@@SpaceKrakenMedia I just enjoyed the drama of it all. I wasn’t really paying attention to specifics being spot comparable to the books, I just enjoyed the tension and Sauron being sly af
@@jspthesecond0723 I just personally disagree. Every show has its ups and downs. The main issue above all else with S1 was the pacing. It was interested but it DRAGGED. S2 had plenty of tension and drama, as well as MUCH better pacing and better action. The music is great, the CGI is spot on other than maybe 2 shots, and I not sure why you think the acting is bad because it isn’t. It isn’t as powerful as performances I’ve seen before but it’s still very good. It’s subjective at the end of the day, and S2 was both satisfying and fun to watch, and has me hyped for a third season
@@RandomChannelTMBE Well, to clarify, I didnt say the acting was weak, I was simply using acting as an example to make a point. The acting is ok, Vickers and the dude who play Celebrimbor are decent enough but Morffyd doesn't do that well, neither does Theo, neither does and Arondir is basically a plank of wood. Pacing was a big issue but there were other large issues such as the worldbuilding, the plot had too many contrivances, the dialogue, the little concept of traveling and time in this show, and so on. Even if somethings like the acting are ok it is botched by the plot. Also, having worked in the industry one nitpick I have is " It’s subjective at the end of the day". Tv shows and movies are a means of storytelling that incorporate lots of artistic mediums. There's a craft to storytelling, just as there is a craft to creating any kind of art, and judging quality in art such as storytelling is not simply about subjective taste. Now, there are aspects that are subjective, like whether or not you like what a director, showrunner, producer, writer, etc. is trying to accomplish or did accomplish, but there are a ton of aspects of any artistic endeavor that are about the craft of the work itself, and these are largely possible to objectively analyze. I have only seen parts of season 2, episode 7, so I cant speak to the 2nd season that much other than the writers dont know how battle cinematography or progression work.
6:30 lol exactly
3 pronged dagger = Sai
I was about to comment the same, lol.
You don't understand: RoP is a prequel to Harry Potter, not LOTR. So yes, the Gand chooses the gizzard, Gary.

Great casting but absolutely wasted
