Fabulous...this is where I get nostalgic, it was much more quaint when I lived there as a child in the 70's, not too many big buildings like now. There used to be a fabulous Chinese restaurant called Seaview restaurant, it was a real family treat when my late parents took us out for dinner there.

The festival holds great historical significance and is also considered the Chinese equivalent to Valentine’s Day in Malaysia. 24Feb (15th day of the lunar Chinese new year) 6pm to 11pm will be our Chap Goh Meh (Chinese valentine day) festival. Basically from 10 Feb to 24 Feb, you want to be IN Penang as lots of open house and events that you can attend. Asked the locals and let your children experience how we celebrate our Chinese New Year. Have fun I our cultural events.

The 2024 Miao Hui (Temple Fairs) celebration will take place on Feb 18, 2024 on the ninth day of the Chinese lunar calendar at the heritage precinct of George Town from 4pm to 11pm.
Apart from showcasing the customs or cultural practices we inherited from our forefathers, the public will also get to appreciate the stories behind the occupations or industries pioneered by them at the time when they first arrived in Penang.
The theme for the 2024 Miao Hui celebration is “Our Story,” an intentional focus on preserving the cultural and industrial history established by Penang’s forebears.
The aim is to provide an opportunity for people to understand and appreciate the groundwork laid by earlier generations. This theme will help attendees reconnect with the unforgettable and beautiful memories of Penang’s past, fostering a collective resonance.
