- This train was sold out so I was forced to sit in the Quiet Car, so no narration. However, I laced the video with informative graphics to explain locations, interlockings, and the many passing trains. The trip was more like what I expect from an Acela Express train ride after my ill fated August trip on the same train which experienced mechanical issues and heat restrictions limiting train speed. No such problems this time. We likely were in the high 140’s going thru Princeton Junction in the 150mph zone. We were a few minutes late into NY due congestion in tunnel but a quick ride of 2 hours and 53 minutes. This video was tedious and time consuming to edit but I enjoyed every minute of it!!!!!

The soundproofing on these trains is amazing!
they really are a great and quiet ride.....when there aren't any babies in the quiet car lol
@@himbourbanist Moral of the story: 1. Enjoy the view
2. Stay as cozy as you need to. And 3…
You don’t put a baby in the quiet car…
@@ilovelolsurprise3419I enjoy the acela express anyway. It's such a nice speedy ride from DC to New York
I live near the Gwynn Tower. I remember when it was in use seeing the operator park their cars on the side of the road. When the crews left that when the vandalism started. Sad.
Wonderful ride as you always show us, Tim. Thanks again.
I took this baby from DC all the way to Boston for my summer vacation; it was epic and the food was simple yet yummy.
Nice coverage of the route. Glad to see work ongoing to complete constant tension catenary between Princeton Junction and Trenton. (Currently it ends just beyond Princeton Junction.)
That whole secion looked pretty smooth
I love your videos! Only ridden the Acela once in this direction , from New Haven-D.C. Very nice ride
Went right pass my house. Nice video
Did this journey often. Great memories
My goal is to retire in France where HSR top speeds are 320kph (198mph) on most lines.
All around Europe, HSR is being deployed to reduce the need to fly short distances between major cities. What used to take 8h+ by train can now be done in less than 4h in many cases allowing city-center to city-center service without having to travel out to an airport, get through "security" and wait an hour before boarding.
I want to live in the future we should have been building over the last 50 years but cheap oil kept us in cars far too long.
Great Video. Very informative captions.
Enjoyed watching!
I see that they're installing new wiring south of Hamilton for more 150mph speeds
Nice fast ride. And quiet too. Seemed a bit strange to see your commentary appear on the screen. Thanks Tim💙😀
Quiet car changes things. Lately I’m into graphics so I can put something in that I didn’t think of at the time
many things you see on amtrak are impreesive
but very nice
It's only gonna get faster once the new avelias enter service
@@3985uprrI am not a fan of that rickety old Susquehanna Bridge
Congratulations on 10K. I first found your channel looking for Amtrak Acela really like your videos of the Northeast corridor cannot believe how fast those trains are. After I finish watching this going to look at your newest upload celebrating 10K last night girlfriend and I watched the three videos of SEPTA. She has been in Florida since 1966 but grew up in levittown she could not believe the changes. The big story in Florida recently has been bright line unfortunately they had a bad crash in Hollywood yesterday train hit a semi truck stopped on the tracks hauling automobiles I don't think anyone was hurt but they have too many cross streets along the east coast I'm afraid this is going to happen because people don't know any better than to stop on the tracks. You have a good channel
1:33:03 - The old Pennsylvania Railroad served industries here. Industry had changed, and an Amtrak-owned line is not a good place for freight service.
I personally like the lack of narration. I prefer to just hear the ambient noise and sounds of the actual train. Good video!
This is a cool video to watch. RRHG does a great job labeling landmarks. A few seconds before something would pass by, I'd think, "I wonder if his subtitles are going to point this out?" And every time....he did! I grew up in the DC area. Spent many afternoons in the 70's and early 80's with my dad watching trains at Ivy City, Landover, and two (long since removed) grade crossings at Glenn Dale ( 11:49) and one east of Bowie (Zug Road 12:24). While looking for evidence of the old crossings, I noticed someone has a red caboose in their backyard (12:20) Wonder if it's somehow related to the tracks nearby?
Nice video
1:50:30 - This is a quick view of NJ Transit River-line ... Trenton to Camden
2:20:02 I love that Amtrak Acela Express Train Chime!
Don't know if it's result of track improvements or whether you were in a better Acela trainset, or perhaps position in consist of Quiet Car, but at least between WAS and BAL and beyond it looked - and sounded - like a smoother ride than some of your other Acela trips. What a great sky for those vistas crossing the Susquehanna!
Also enjoyed your VRE videos preceding this one.
Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!
It was fairly smooth ride
@@3985uprr you should do one from Washington D.C. to Boston while riding on the Acela Express (if you haven't done it already)
@@DrQuagmire1 in essence, I’ve already done that, except for New York to New Haven, which is slow running. I’ve done this video and from New Haven to Boston.
Track improvements are slowly but surely starting to occur
I'm going to spring valley from Philadelphia tomorrow. (On a train).
1:10:03 -- Brandywine River, Wilmington Delaware
52:30 amazing horn
Can barely hear it. My New York Boston ride is much clearer
@@3985uprrI can hear it quite well. I'm telling you. The acela has a very nice sounding horn compared to its French counterpart.
@@3985uprr1:33:23 you can hear it a lot better
@@3985uprrI think the old NYC to Boston video you deleted had a better sounding horn ngl.
@@nolantherailfan5048 the last 2150 I did in January has a better horn

1:34:25 - a train to Chestnut Hill East SEPTA station
Good video I miss your narration
I was in the quiet car, so I had to keep my mouth shut
[1:33:19] I'm confused...Isn't the Interlocking - located just south of the two North Philadelphia Stations - labeled "LEHIGH"?
Yes. It used to be called north Philadelphia
Railfan Horn Guy is sad because this route has no grade-crossings with a horn.
Probably a dumb question, but I've always wondered how you keep the camera so steady?...Do you somehow have it on a tripod at your seat?
I have a window mounted suction cup apparatus. I’m very pleased with it all though I don’t always use it but I had to use it on that long trip
Do you have any favorite part of the NEC to ride? I've lately been more into the Keystone corridor for railfanning particularly around Harrisburg and Lancaster because of the freight action.
I enjoy the entire Amtrak owned corridor. The MN part is slow.
Back in the 70's they had low level platforms for long distance trains. Is this still the case?
49:40 My favorite part
That silver meteor train at 1:55:36 scared me a little
I guess if each train was hitting close to 150 then the combined "visual" speed of the passing trains would be approx. 300? It's not easy being a genius but I can take the pressure LOL.
Ikr. You're moving at such a high speed and it just sneaks up on you. That's happened to me plenty of times when i was in France on the tgv
2:36:00
Great video but not recorded to bring a kid in the quiet car though
Your Philly is off Mantua is in West Philly
Close enough
@@3985uprrnope two different parts of the city North & West
Bringing a baby in the quiet car was completely inappropriate. Conductor should have kicked them off in Baltimore
That would be a bit harsh
Very Well Said !!
why is that is that going so long
Why not?? It got 14,000 plus views.
@@3985uprrit's a very speedy journey
It feels like you sped up the train because when i took acela it was not that fast by the time we passed New Carrolton (Marc, Amtrak and Metro Station)
Nope. It was real time
I Really Have A Serious Crush On You Amtrak Acela Express Trains ❤🚆❤
