Thank you so much for reminding us to forgive ourselves you. We as women naturally blame ourselves. I needed 20 years ago a wise friend. I hope going forward I can be that wise friend to someone. You are correct we are not taught about having a healthy relationship.
Thank you. I did not know “what that behaviour would grow up to become”. I needed this. I need to forgive my younger self for not knowing how to handle such a complex relationship. I thought “love conquers all” but I needed wisdom that was not there from people helpers who were not equipped. I was alone trying to work it out and praying pleading prayers to God or trying to battle Satan when it was my husbands free will I was really facing. I do not trust myself and I need to. Thank you so much. 😢

Thank you for sharing. I could relate to a lot of what you said - from both sides - abuser and abused. My wife and I came from a lot of dysfunction and sadly we were very abusive to each other for many years. And yes, for a very long time we didn't have the emotional maturity (understanding/voice/awareness/clarity) to even identify behavior as abusive or wrong, and even less to speak up about it/against it. And yes, even though mentally I understand God has forgiven me for my part in all of it, it's hard to deal with the guilt and shame. The repercussions to us and our children are ongoing no matter how much repair work is done. Life is very different now. I'm working hard to not live in constant regret, but to learn from it - but find it very difficult. Sadly, our divorce will be final in a few weeks/months.
Each and every one of us are on a journey to become a better version of ourselves, to learn and to grow from our past mistakes and create a better future. It sounds like you are well on your journey and we wish you the best. If you would like help, please reach out to info@marriagerecoverycenter.com.
Nowhere in the Bible it says “forgive yourself”. The other term you used, “extend compassion”, is a much better term to be applied to this situation you describe. ;)
That’s some of the most toxic stuff I’ve heard in a long time. Love is to cover a multitude of sins but own your mistakes and fix it while honoring your vows. Make your bed and lay in it. Choose whom you shall love and love your choice. Women are always like “I was young and dumb therefore I can’t be held accountable.”
An abuser who calls himself a man of God is the one who needs to own his sins toward his wife. Abandonment is a cause for divorce in the scriptures, sir. And the kind of behavior that leaves a woman all alone and battered in her soul is just as sinful as physical abuse, but maybe more so since it leaves no outward signs so that she might have help from the Body of Christ. Your comment tells this about you: you do not know a thing about women.

Maybe a man feel in love with a women only to wake up and find f60.81 dark triad.
Yes, of course it can be either a man or a woman.

You do not get what Dr Lennae Hunt was saying AT ALL. Are you always so abrasive?
