Went there in 2016 with my daughter. It was part of a Go Ahead Jewels of the Alpine tour. I still wear the free black Mount Pilatus cap they give to all at the top. Great video of my memory of this trip to the top.
That was amazing footage. When I visited there back in October it snowed over night only in the mountains. It was amazing. They had to stop the train because a part of the tracks were frozen. Another car came shortly after that to thaw it out and we were on our way again. The view was breath taking
You gave us a great view. Thanks for postin. When I first rode this train, in 2001, I descended using the cable cars. On a later visit, that descent was closed.
This region was shot by Google in 3D photogrammetry imagery textures. That means you can do this trip very realistically in a PC powered Oculus Rift VR headset (now Rift S) and the newer Google Earth VR version. I like to pretend I am the train driver and place myself right on the rails going both up and down. I also "jump off" at times and look around at points of interest along the way. The hotel and it's surrounding area are spectacular, breathtaking, and even scary in the fully immersive 3D of VR. Some people can't handle those heights very well in VR either. Google Earth VR also optionally, additionally, and automatically presents it's 100 BILLION 360 degree photo library to the headset based on one's GPS position in the world right down to a few feet in accuracy. Tens of thousands of certified Google 360 degree photo photographers now contribute these photos. Anyone can now sign up for this and many thousands of people have. So as you move about in 3D, you can OPTIONALLY view 360 degree photos of MOST EVERYTHING without using a mouse. You just look around at will. 360 degree photos are actually "global" in content so you can look up and down too. Google Earth VR is considered one of just a handful of "killer apps" by VR enthusiasts. The imagery at Mt. Pllatus is one of the reasons why. Google is now up to about 2000 regions located around the world done this way. Luckily for us all of the Lucerne area is captured this way as is Engelberg and Titlis. So is Mt. Blanc at Chamonix and Snowdon in Wales. So is Zermatt and the entire Matterhorn region. All spectacular in full 3D. Pop over to nearby Mt. Rigi. That cog wheel train ride up and down is fun too in VR. Microsoft is working hard to get into this too later this year through their new flight simulator... stay tuned on that one.
If I could actually try one of these out, and see if it works for me (I couldn’t focus both eyes watching 3D movies with either those paper or plastic glasses) and if it did, I’d buy one immediately. Because of the additional content added each day. The concept you’ve described is actually the best I’ve read about it. You ought to be writing their ad copy!
Great engineering ! I’ve been there 3 times, 2nd time stayed overnight at the Belvedere Hotel (? ). The Swiss Tourism Board were running a promotion ; from memory 160 francs dinner, bed, breakfast.and marvellous food. Probably. Won’t get there again.
This train up the mountain has a rack and pinion rail in the middle of the tracks to pull the car up the mountain and to keep the car from descending too rapidly.
@@bonniehork1148 Well, Switzerland is crawling with illuminati people who are in opposition to the LORD. Remember the creepy ceremony when they opened the Gotthard base tunnel? (Gordon's wife)

The mountain train is very strange.
Place it in your seat, give it a shape you can't see on other trains
This train up the mountain has a rack and pinion rail in the middle of the tracks to pull the car up the mountain and to keep the car from descending too rapidly.
Piękna fajna wycieczka i to za darmo. Pozdrawiam. Czekam jak wszyscy na koniec koronowirusa.

Quite a ride! Too bad neither the video, not the description of the video says anything about this train!
You can google it dummy
That scenery at the top. Wow!
Wow but also crazy inclines! Do these run in Winter, too?
No, sadly you can only get up using the cable car on the other side in winter.

uau como tem engenharia espetacular na europa.
Interesting to see a cog railway rather than the usual funicular.
Die geht ja echt sehr Hoch Fantastisch

Thank you. Why do they use a dragon for a logo? (Gordon's wife)
And why the name??!
@@bonniehork1148 Well, Switzerland is crawling with illuminati people who are in opposition to the LORD. Remember the creepy ceremony when they opened the Gotthard base tunnel? (Gordon's wife)
It's the logo of the mountain, it is said there's a dragon lair in the mountain.
Bellissimo.In sottofondo lo Schwitzertitsch
Fun trip, the video is cool too.

0:09 What exactly is he steering?
That's not a steering wheel, it's the power controller \m/
This is a step switch to regulate the electric resistors to control the speed.

Schade, die scheint nicht rollstuhlgängig zu sein😟
Die Zahnradbahn ist rollstuhlgängig. Es ist eine Reservation 24h im voraus notwendig.

There is a woman talking in the background who can’t shut up to save her life. She keeps prattling on and on. God help her husband, if she has one.
What a shame the driver thinks he is steering. I noticed the walkers were on tracks as well.
Wow

Ride fee 72.00 CHF(67.30 EUR. 74.20 USD)/Adult
No price relation anymore. Everywhere rip off as long as people pay for it.
When the rack railway opened in 1889, the ride was not affordable for a normal worker (more than a month's wage). So it's not so bad anymore.
Couldn't afford a narrator, eh? lol
Done it by foot!
