The purpose of some countries tries to say Lunar New Year instead of Chinese New Year is to remove Chinese Culture (去中国化), very political and bad-intentioned。 While Chinese New Year is Scientific, agriculture and cultural thing.
What I loved the most about this new video was the entertaining narrative starting with quick questions and then developing the topics and details about New Year in China. That was brilliant! Plus, the sequence of scenes and the sinchronization between the speech while showing the surroundings was cool and made me want to continue wondering what might come next. I enjoyed watching it so much! I have to add that the switch of languages from English to Chinese and viceversa left me speechless in a quite positive way! Can't wait for the upcoming content! 🎉🎉
Because everyone is working away from home and has a holiday on New Year's Day, there are a lot of people. During the Chinese New Year, there are not many people on the road, and everyone returns to their hometowns to reunite with their families.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! That totally makes sense - at least for a certain group of people. At the same time, I’ve noticed Western holidays like New Year’s and Christmas seem to be getting more popular here too, with more people joining in the celebrations.
It is always one to two months after winter solstice (冬至)。When the new moon starts on 22 December (the first new moon just after winter solstice) ,the Chinese New Year (the second new moon) would be on 21 January. When new moon starts on 20 December (the first new moon just before the winter solstice),CNY would be on 20 February.
Haikou is probably a Tir-3 city, I was born there, sometimes it could be a bit chaotic, but I love the vibe there. I hope it's not as cold as here now in Spain 🙃
Qué tal Cheery? Honestly, I’d argue Haikou is definitely a Tier 2 city now, especially with its growing economic significance thanks to the free trade port and everything. As for the touch of chaos you mentioned, I actually love that too, haha! It’s something I miss sometimes in Beijing-though the sheer number of scooters on the streets can be pretty wild at times! 😄 Any must-visit spots you’d recommend for me to check out and grab some more videos? Always looking for cool places to explore! Weather is great here atm 🌞
@@TheFluentNomadHaving done some fact checks I can confirm that it is a third-tier city, but I believe it has a great potential to move above to the second tier like the reason you mentioned.😊
Equinoxes Spring (春分, day and night same long),The Summer solstice(夏至, day the longest), equinoxes Autumn(秋风, day and night same long),, and winter solstice (冬至, day the shortest)。
Chinese New Year is not pure lunar calendar but lunisolar. The pure lunar calendar is Arabian calendar, in which their newyear always move a month forward, While Chinese new year also fall between Jan and Feb.
Thanks for pointing this out-such a great point and definitely worth mentioning! You're absolutely right, Chinese New Year isn’t purely based on the lunar calendar but the lunisolar calendar, which is why it always falls between January and February. I’ll be sure to explain that better next time!
Chinese New Year (CNY 中国新年) can not be said as Lunar New Year, because Chinese New Year is based on solar and lunar together, and it is also based on China’s geographical position, which has four distinct seasons on northern hemisphere.

Being a Chinese living in America for 30 years, I have never met a single western person told me, I speak good English.😆😆😆The mind set is so different on two side.
I get where you're coming from. However, I think it's less about mindset and more about demographics and language. In the U.S., with such a mix of cultures-African American, Hispanic, Asian-it’s not as much of a novelty to hear someone speak decent English. Meanwhile, in China, fluent Chinese from a non-local stands out more, and let’s be real, Chinese is a tough language to learn! I’ve had a similar experience in Brazil-locals instantly know I’m a gringo just by looking at me, and they get super excited when I speak Portuguese because it’s not that common. Just my two cents!
@@TheFluentNomad Certain degree of truth of what you said, but you'll get a better picture by going back further in history...and how do you explain when foreign people come to China and immediately complain it's not an English friendly country? This is the type of mindset as a result of narrative and indoctrination. Anyway, I have no ill intention and you deserve respect by getting out comfort zone to learn Chinese.😄😄
Haha, I totally agree-change is a good thing, but keeping some old traditions (like Chinese New Year) is also really important. Funny enough, I was just chatting with a Chinese friend who was complaining that people aren’t valuing CNY as much or spending as much time with family anymore. Then I asked him, “Wait, aren’t you traveling abroad for the holiday as well?” and we both had a laugh! It’s all about finding the right balance, I guess.
