OMG! This's almost exactly how I make mine! I used 6 cans of beans, a box of mushrooms, 3 lg yellow onions...got the last 2 really fried up brown, yes to the bacon, yes to the cheese. I also added plenty black pepper, lots of minced garlic, some onion powder and bout a Tbsp. of Worcestershire. comes our great every time!
I made this for a late Thanksgiving get together. It was a hit! It was sooo deeeelish! Not a drop left! This is my new favorite recipe! So glad I found your awesome video.
I made this last year for Thanksgiving, and it was a hit, nothing left. The simple upgrades, bacon, cheese, mushrooms make it. Thanks for sharing! It is the best.
I made my first green bean casserole for the first time ever and I'm so glad that I found your recipe. I have always fried bacon and onion together and tossed my green beans with them and served that every year for Thanksgiving. So when I found your recipe I knew it had to be good. I was not disappointed. Thank-you 😊
I happened to see this recommended, clicked it, and then a whole slew of green bean casserole recipes showed up, lol. In my region we have always used the French style cut green beans in the can. And most do the oldtimy way with the cream of mushroom soup, and the crispy onions on top. I've seen some done in a slow cooker too. I made one last week just for me, like above, but used some shredded cheese in it, and did not add any milk or cream. It was the best I've made yet. Now I'm going to make one with one can of regular cut, and one can of French cut, a can of cream of celery soup, and some drained canned mushrooms cooked a little with some diced onions like you did, but without the bacon. This is an enjoyable video, thanks.
I was asked to bring GBC tomorrow. I never ate this casserole as a child, & I’ve never made it myself. Your recipe looks very yummy. I’m going to cook fresh green beans in instant pot for 2 minutes, ice bath, then your recipe. Thank you! 🦃😊
I make mine just like yours! I prefer canned green beans over fresh because I don’t like the firm texture of fresh. One step I never considered though was adding cheese. I’ll add that step tomorrow!
STACEY! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas (we are now after midnight!) just wanted to say I made this and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I altered it a bit: fiesta blend cheese with cheddar and Monterey Jack etc etc. I also browned about 2 cups of chopped mushrooms, and then added Whole Foods “Nordic Forager’s Blend” seasoning, which adds extra garlic/onion/dried mushroom, and some smokiness. I also did 4 cloves of garlic. IT WON THE CHRISTMAS EVE SHOW and I’m now a solid fan of Green Bean Casserole!! Next year, I will try it with fresh green beans to give more texture. Love from South Carolina! ❤️
I love green bean casserole woth bacon, cheese, and candied/picked jalapenos so much! Also, if using canned cream of mushroom soup Def Sautee and add extra mushrooms like you did. Of course it's better to just make homemade cream of mushroom and it's also so stinking quick and easy. This is a great recipe!
This is going to be my 3rd time making this recipe for Thanksgiving ❤ I will never make green bean casserole any other way! Omg!! Unbelievably delicious & promise it will be a huge hit 🤤🤤🤤🤤
I just found your channel and subscribed. It's nice to find a cook who knows what they are doing, easy to follow and has a personality!! Yayyy! Looking forward to watching more videos. Happy Thanksgiving!
I did this recipe for my family early thanksgiving this year, I just swapped up the cheese with freshly shredded cheddar (no blocks of Monterrey Jack at my grocery store), it's the first food I have ever made that every last drop was gone. Making this recipe from now on! Also add lots of black pepper.
I love green beans casserole but the way I fix mine is a cup of whole milk mushroom soup and bacon bits and stir all together and shredded cheese also then I put in my crispy onions in and on top omg it's so good and very tasty thank you
I made mine exactly like his recipe, but after being in the oven for 30 minutes, everything turned very liquidy , I was hoping it would stay in a thick consistency
My word Stacey, this looks good. I dearly love green beans and while the casserole has never been a fav of mine I'm thinking this one might just win me over. Cheesy goodness and bacon. YUM. I'm gonna leave mine in the skillet to bake though (I gotta cook and then wash dishes, LOL). I just have to wait for my covid taste buds to recover and I'll be trying it for sure. TY bunches.
Just discovered your channel and have Subscribed. This dish looks perfect. Campbells now have a "Cream of Bacon" soup. I am going to make this but with one can of the bacon soup. we LOVE the flavor of bacon.
I’m sold because your name is “Stacy”….My college sweetie’s name was Stacy! Checking out GBC recipes and I gotta say; from someone who hasn’t tried GBC ; if I’m go’n try it, it will have to be THIS recipe! Looks good; TFS! Edit: I never miss an opportunity to add mushrooms into a recipe!
We make traditional green bean casserole almost every year for TG. This year I wanted to switch it up with something different. Going with this recipe.
My question is do you bake the night before you bring to a family or friends destination or right before you leave that day? That day meaning tomorrow in my case. Thanks for any ideas!
@@Southernbite Ok thank you! I’m assembling right now and my wife said we could bake it at her Daughter’s house where we are going tomorrow. Thanks for the info and happy Thanksgiving!

I would blanch them in boiling water for 3 to 4 minutes and then continue with the recipe. You’ll need about 8 cups of beans for this particular recipe, but it will feed about 8 to 10.
My second time making this. Wondernous!!! If that's not a word, it should be. I forgot to put in any salt and pepper and rewatching your video, I didn't see you add it either. What do you think? Should I salt and pepper the top or just leave as is?
Thanks! SO glad to hear you've enjoyed it!! Yes, I do add salt and pepper to taste. It's included in the full recipe on the site. With that being said, I think it should be fine without it, too. southernbite.com/ultimate-green-bean-casserole/

@@Southernbite This is my third time making this recipe now. This year I'm trading in the Monterey for Irish Cheddar just to see.....
Comin from the fam...this is a good recipe. Thanks for the video. I must suggest... red onion instead of yellow or white.

I am definitely adding this to my menu.

I have to Make this for Christmas 🎄
This is exactly what I was looking for
I really got tired of the same ole GB casserole, so this would do it for me. Thank you!
Those onions are delicious. Everybody in my house gets a can of those in their stocking for Christmas.
I’ve looked through many and this has to be the best option..
I made this but instead of mushrooms I added finely cut ham, tasted tremendous

My question is do you bake the night before you bring to a family or friends destination or right before you leave that day? That day meaning tomorrow in my case. Thanks for any ideas!
I typically assemble the night before and refrigerate, then bake right before I leave. Just don’t put the onions on until til you bake it.

Thanks for this recipe i don't think the fam has added bacon but I'm thinking about it this year. YUM
What if I used frozen Green Beans do I just rise them and just put them in the mix? How many cups for a family of 4?
I would blanch them in boiling water for 3 to 4 minutes and then continue with the recipe. You’ll need about 8 cups of beans for this particular recipe, but it will feed about 8 to 10.
Yeah I'm using frozen green beans too. I thought it would be better than canned green beans as far as the freshness goes.
2nd time using this recipe i love it
Stoppp this looks so good 🤤 I’m drooling
Thank you 😋
Can this be made the day before? Meaning prepare it and then bake it in thanksgiving day. Cooking this year and want to start preparing the day before
@@marydanzi471 yep, just leave off the onions until reheating.
