Fun fact: in the game, the "Physiology" skill that can be learned via bookcase absolutely breaks the body skill, taking less than 10 in-game minutes to max out body skill from 0, on condition you actually took time to learn it via bookcase.
Yes! Once you learn it, get on the bike from freetime and boom, maxed body skill lol

some building tips (from someone who's only played 3+4):
don't make your houses boxes!
- add funny little bumps (bathrooms and chimneys are good for this!)
- make rooms shapes other than boxes! a lot are L shaped, or have bumps for desks/beds/windows/etc
minimize empty space!
- the emptier rooms are, the more awkward it looks
- make the rooms themselves smaller, bigger doesn't always = better
- add filler! some of my favorites are plants (!), bookshelves, and couches/chairs, but experiment and have fun with it
don't be afraid to reference!
- this isn't school, google & pinterest aren't cheating :)
- looking at actual houses can help you figure out layouts and exterior designs that look nice (i usually copy the front & wing the rest of it, but you can also look up blueprints and copy those)
- watching other people build helps a lot too! just having on a random youtube video or twitch stream can really help you figure out how the pros do it
try and have cohesive themes!
- try and stick to similar colors and/or furniture styles across rooms, it makes it seem like actual people with their own preferences live there
- don't be afraid to make exceptions to this one! the teen's bedroom is gonna be different from baby's nursery & dad's office.
- generally, the shared living spaces will be the most similar (& likely also the master bedroom) and in family homes, the rest will start to stray
at the end of the day though, what matters most is that you have fun with it :) the whole point of playing games is to have fun, so if the house makes you happy it's a good house!
Couple of things; Go on vacation to the eastern location, buy 5 eastern souvenirs and try and max out your "vacation specific" wants. The souvenirs placed on a shelf + vacation bonuses will give an extra boost to skill increases. Also, Autumn/Fall season gives extra boost to skill increases.
a very simple tip for homes and specially roof. Don't make a BOX house. Try to make each room stand out or walls in. like a Tetris game, where you are not trying to make a square. That way, the roof will end up looking far more interesting.
But don't go TOO overboard with it. Otherwise it just becomes a complex mess of shapes.

My mother once burnt a pot of water.
Two days ago, I exploded an egg. I was making hard boiled eggs, set a timer (on the stove)... The stove timer didn't beep. In my defense I was high.

Beginner mistake, always gotta raise your cooking to 4 before hitting the stove. Should got an instant meal.
Here’s a fun fact: I’m not going to tell you what to do because this is a game that can be played however you want.
The helmet will only work for a couple skill points. Once the lightbulb no longer shines, the helmet grants NO bonus to exp gain. Best time to use it or learn any skills actually. is during Fall, as that season grants a bonus to skill gain or completing any task that needs a bar to be filled
Some tips for building in any sims game:
- build the exterior first, then go and do the floor plan. Even if the floor plan don't end up working out first try,it will be easier to ajust things in a way that still looks good.
- small houses are the way to go, easier to build and decorate in a way it won't look empty
- big square rooms are really hard to work with, since it tends to always look empty in the middle

Building the exterior first doesn't make any sense, that's like saying decorate the cake before baking it.
There's a funny bug where if your sim studied the physiology book from a bookshelf, any future body building would progress so fast that you could max the skill in seconds.
You do need The 2 Apartment Life though for this to be possible

You mentioned how you also wanted to play University.
I have a challenge for you:
A sim (most likely from toddler) who went to private school, who also has learned everything extra thing there is ti learn. (Toddler training, read the books of fire safety, etc), has teen job. Basically best sim. The goal is to get as many scholarships as possible.
The real challenge is: one at university, the sim will NOT assist to a single class, but will get best grades, will join the secret society. AND most importantly, you will never pause to select an action or interrupt and action the sim is making (except prevent the sim to go to class). Sims university is a chaotic beast. Letting your sim roam wild is a great experience
@@ZoeLycan To get best grades at college they still need to participate in exams.
And "as many scholarships as possible" that sim is guaranteed to struggle with the Undead Educational Grant, it's only granted to zombies (good luck getting that, as the sim needs to already be dead for any method) and vampires (good luck surviving that).
@@DeadlyPL Well yes to exams, but you can skp every other class. The Undead one you just need to be a Vampire, so the more reason to stay indoors. You can always have Aliens family, and get more if you lose all family members. So just Have BigFoot as the only Adult at the house. There are many fun ways to get this done
@@ZoeLycan Well, you'll need to go to a community lot at least once in order to shift exam time, because community lot time travel still works, but "time until final exam" meter doesn't turn back, resulting in it being safe for a vampire to leave for exams because they're at night time (or you could get the cure and drink it once at college, the scholarships affect your college student's starting funds, they don't affect how much you get in grants for good grades).
It doesn't seem like anyone else has mentioned it, and I know you stated you won't use jobs, but I thought I'd mention it because it's a really broken method and I thought it was interesting. In my opinion, the fastest way to max out all the skills is to use the Bookshelf from the Education career you get at level 5 and use the chair you make by becoming a warlock/witch. You need Seasons and Apartment Life as those features come with the packs. The bookshelf allows you to learn any skill from a book while the chair maxes out your sim needs as long as the sim is a warlock/witch. Place the bookshelf next to the chair and your sim will never have to stop and can max out a skill in about a day or two. It takes a while to get to this point, as you need to get to that point in the Education career and become a warlock/witch, but once you get there, it's quite easy to max the skills on multiple sims

Seeing this, while skilling on OSRS gave me a scare, I just visited Falador at the same time you said he looked like one of their knights lol.
how much did it cost to pick up the complete edition, this used to be my go to game back in the day. building castles for hours, playing with a sim in it for like 30 minutes and then moving on to another build. maybe im more fond of 3 because the create a style system that let you customize damn near everything was so fun and good and watching your sim actually drive places ugh man 4 is such a disappointment
If you contact EA and say you used to have it but lost the case / disc they’ll just give you the whole complete edition for free! That’s what I did :)
They gave out all the sims 2 and expansions for free before they stopped selling it a few years ago.
However, actually getting it to run is a nightmare, and I gave up, every fix just yielded 2 more issues.

Piracy from the sims 2 subreddit. It comes with a whole lotta patches that make the game actually run
love the video! my building tips are as follows:
1) start with a “theme” that you want of the house. who is this house for? what would their house look like? are they rich? poor? minimalist or a hoarder? also knowing what type of “vibe” you want to be like (ex: bohemian, modern, traditional, etc etc) i always pull inspo from real life houses i’ve seen online/ in person
2) have. a. color. scheme. not just “this room is blue” no !!! you gotta go like , “this room will be bright blue and neon orange” using color theory helps. also match ur undertones! so don’t do a cool blue and warm orange.
2) i always do exteriors first and DONT make boxes! also using columns and porches and all that really helps. try to break up the shapes to make it more easy on the eyes than just a big box with a triangle roof.
4. with interior decoration don’t be afraid to mix up patterns and whatnot. as long as they fit the scheme ur good.
5. i also never use those white overhead lights. overhead lights r only used in bathrooms and kitchens in my house. i use floor lamps and table side lamps to light up the place!
6. curtains, carpets, PLANTS, and PAINTINGS r a MUST!
6. avoid square rooms, and try not too make them too big! i always try to cram as much stuff as i can in there.
7. and ofc use trees and shrubbery and use the spray dirt around the houses and under trees and bushes.

I feel like that would could go the fastest. I feel like compared to other sims games a lot of sims 3 skills level fast. Or maybe not fast but it feels less convoluted at times lol

Insisting that Skillam sleep in a tent for the first part was what really hindered this run. As fun as it sounds, if you want to get Sims in good moods to skill build you NEED the best items available. Especially in the Sims 1 & 2 they are much more brutal at raising moods than TS4.
I bet you'll still have a chance to burn down the house boiling water.

Sadly EA has pretty much vaulted it away. You’ll have to get it through pirating or by finding a games archive online.
it's basically abandonware at this point and disks won't install on newer OS so basically you have to pirate it
Google sims 2 starter pack. Someone basically made a remastered open source version of the game that's optimized for modern pc
