    Great hot climate suggestions! Those are all very cool plants! Even the one that bites! Haha!

      They do get a little nippy, but I enjoy them. With the cold now, I like it. Easier to get warm than to cool off from the heat. Hot cup of coffee or tea and your body feels warm. Hot soup on the cold days also takes the chill out of the bones. Enjoy the day and stay warm. Tom

    Very nice! I'm not familiar with the varieties of plants that you featured in this video. Thank-you for sharing them.

      Thank you. I try to do different bonsai other than all the standards that everyone does. If you want to try something different and you are not around Ted's Greenhouse, check out Planet Desert. They have a wide variety of succulents that look like trees. Enjoy a relaxing day today and a glass of carrot juice or a cup of tea. Tom

    It's really hot these few days and without rain. Although I don't want rain that much but one of my big tree, seems not very happy with the leaves😂😂what I been move it last week!!

      @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is hot and no rain for us in a couple weeks. To save your tree, can you put the pot in a container that is bigger than the pot and deeper than the pot? That way you can fill the container with water and put the pot inside so that the water covers the top of the pot. If you see air bubbles coming out, then the soil is compacted from the heat. By soaking the pot until the air bubbles come out, the soil will relax and the tree will be well hydrated. The heat is something that we have to contend with to keep the trees well watered. Stay well, Cherie and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea or a cool glass of carrot juice. Tom

      Thank you, Banner. Was it the Pelargonium Xerophyton? It is a succulent and sometimes called a Desert Geranium. Tom

    Excellent video Tom. I like that you try unusual varieties. “Don’t be afraid to try something new!!”

      Thank you, Steve. I try to stay out of the norm and try different things. Just to try. You are right, never be afraid to try something new. Off the record. This heat really did a number on my cucumbers. I planted them around the 4th of July for a late crop. No cucumber beetles but the cucumber did not grow long. Stunted to have its size and ripened that way. Still good though. Stay well and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea tonight. Tom

      Thank you, Barry. These trees really hold up to the heat and do not start to wilt if no water till I get to them like the others. Really strong. Overwintering them is the challenge or something like that. Or like my old Italian friend use to say: Whatta ya gonna do. Stay well and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea tonight. Tom

    Whenever you say "fire it in'..." it reminds me of Bill Alexander, who used to be on WTTW channel 11 doing oil paintings in the 1970s-80s. He was before Bob Ross. In fact, Bob Ross was his protégé and learned the painting technique from Bill before becoming his successor. He did not have Bob Ross' soft whispery voice; Bill was Austrian and he barked it out- "Fire it in!! Fire it in dere!!" It always made me laugh.

    Nice bend on the 4th tree...those thorns look wicked

    • @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951
      @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes the thorns are very wicked. I have to be careful with it. The bend is just from light. Placing the tree to grow toward the sun and then back again. The bend forms naturally. Stay well and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea later in the day. Tom

    It's crazy to think plants won't grow in lava rock!!!
    It happens in nature all the time! Lol
    Also, if there's a feed store nearby...You can get a 50 pound bag of chicken grit for the same price as a standard bag of perlite. And they have different sizes! I prefer #1.

    • @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951
      @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are a wealth of information. Ted's nursery uses lava rock in their mixes and their plants grow just fine. You are right, it does happen in nature. #1 size chicken grit. I have to check it out. I have a feed store about a half hour away from me. This will be great if they have that size. They should though. They sell chickens and birds and all kinds of feed. Thank you. Have a nice relaxing evening with a nice cup of tea while relaxing in your favorite chair. Tom

    So I can bring my small Pelargonium inside in the winter? Do I let it go dormant in winter? Or does it stay green and need warmth and light?

    • @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951
      @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I bring mine in for the winter and keep them in the basement. I just water them when they are dry. Just basement light is what they get from the outside. No special lighting. So they do not grow much, just stay dormant. Either an east or west window. Mine survived by a north window. Hope that this helps you out. Stay well and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea tonight. Tom
