I'm convinced the elephant is of too good of nature to defend itself , their civility and social habits show a creature that needs love to survive . We can't for any means fail this creature .
This is one of the most touching and emotional videos of elephants I have ever seen. God bless all who have enabled them to live free at this wonderful place in Tenn. It is plain to see they truly love each other. How great!
How any one can harm these splendid beings is beyond comprehension. Shirley, at 65 looks more beautiful than ever. And Misty is exquisite as well. I wsh them both long lives, happiness and peace, and good health forever on their little piece of paradise at the sanctuary.
Typical of both: Shirley, loving and supportive and Misty: as long as you are here I will take a nap! Bless these wonderful old warriors. They are right where they need to be.
This makes me smile, chuckle and wipe the occasional tear from my eye. How sweet... how moving. Thank you SO much for taking such great care of all of the girls and for sharing this with us.
If I were to guess what they are saying it would be mama Shirley comforting Misty. She's caressing her like a mother would. Misty needs constant love and reassuring and Shirley is there as matriarch and friend. It is a gift to watch these majestic creatures!
It is so neat to see these beautiful creatures so loving toward each other. I wish I could be there in person all the time to get to watch and hear all of the different elephants and their voices. This was a beautiful video. Thank you . Monica W. Barnett
Shirley is actually pretty capable with that leg. She doesn't favor her other leg or refrain from putting weight on it. We often see her using her "bad" leg to push herself after she's been laying down. We sometimes see other elephants start to lay down and then "change their mind," maybe she was just stretching.
It was injured in an altercation with another elephant many years ago, way before Shirley found Sanctuary. Her broken leg was never set correctly, and it healed itself at the angle you see here.

So true. They are so gentle and caring and kind. We have much to learn from elephant society.
I see more love between them than i sometimes see between humans. We need to learn from them. They have much to teach us.

This never, ever gets old. So sweet.
I love when elephants smile!
I've always loved these two beautiful eles. Kisses and hugs, girls.
Omg. So sweet, had me tearing up. The smiles on their faces said it all, they just adore one another.
I love them so much. Shirley is my hero and Misty is like a sister!
I love naps too!
It's raining on my face.

Thank you for posting this. It brought tears to my eyes. I adopted Misty and want
to see and learn everything that happens to her.

mblom819 Why does Misty need love and assurance?

So sweet!
Wow...
Two beautiful ladies.
Thank you...just made me keep my sanity for today... :-)
it's just too sad to see Shirley wanted to lay down at 0:56 only to realize she couldn't. Is it a compromise due to her leg condition ?

Shirley is swinging her back leg, does that mean it bothers her to put weight on it?
ΤΙ ΟΜΟΡΦΕΣ ΠΟΥ ΕΙΝΑΙ !!!
What is wrong with her leg?
