@@HikingForHealth1 It was a nice change being in the White Peak when compared to the Dark Peak Gav. We found a superb spot to camp at. In fact it was that good, that after some day 2 exploration of the area, we went back to the same spot and spent a second night there.👍
You'll love the cp2 and the vestibules are excellent for cooking and storage. Best tips I'd say is avoid over tightening the hat elastic on the poles by the doors as its this mistake people make that causes the zips to come away or be a pain to close. A lot of people wrap the elastic round the poles a few times but this misshapes the tent. Mine has stood up to Welsh mountain weather no issues and it's unmodded but I'd definitely keep the banshee for the harsher weather
Ah that’s good to know Phil. Always good to get advice on a new tent. First outing was a good one and it rained heavy. Thanks for watching. Better weather and lighter days on the way 👍🏻
Great vid Gav. I think the last 5-6 weeks many of us have found ourselves studying weather forecasts and being put off. Glad you managed to get out and get the new tent tested properly
The tent collection is growing. 😂 hopefully the weather looks like it’s improving. Although I remember last year being out on the 30th April onto the 1st May and the tent was frozen in the morning. 😂
Lovely video as always, beautiful views, was amazed at just how much colour there is up on the hills at this time of year! Hopefully the next one will be a dry one for you. Thanks for sharing & can’t wait for the next one. ❤️x
Thanks Sylvia, always good to get out on a camp but I must admit some more settled weather would be welcome. Just worried that once the temperature increases the dreaded midges will make an appearance! 😂 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Gav
Another incredible vid gav keep up the amazing work. Such a beautiful place and I'm really glad you are enjoying your new tent it looks amazing. How long does the gas in your cooking stove last for on average? Great piece of kit plus are the stews U have expensive?
Thanks Karl, the tent is great so far. Need to make a couple of tweaks to make it even better eh. The Jetboil Minimo is a great stove and handy to have. The meals can be pricey but it’s cos they’re ready prepped and all you need to do is rehydrate. Sometimes it’s nice to take own ingredients and cook. Thanks for watching. 😀
Thanks for watching David. It wasn’t quite the sunrise like on the YT short but still a beautiful morning. Great to sit, have your breakfast and watch the view. Thanks for watching! 😀
Nice gentle video. Good to see an up to date review of the Cloud Peak 2. I'm on my second, not because of any issues; I gave my first tent to my son for a camp and he liked it so much I couldn't prise it off him. That first tent came direct from Naturehike. I chose DHL delivery direct from China and it was with me in UK in four days!!. My second was from Amazon at a really good price. I was expecting the new door, but the gods were with me and it came with the T door setup. I love this tent, mostly because it is all in one inner/outer pitch and entirely free standing. I have bought and sold others and always come back to it. Only 'mod' I have done (if you could call it that) is to shorten the play on the tent cap elastics to give a less flappy fit; but don't overstretch. I've also permanently attached the tent cap on two of the hooks so that I don't lose it in high wind and it is orientated correctly on top. I leave my floor mat permanently attached. Note that the tent is slightly wider at one end, so check that the mat corresponds. In windy weather, wrapping the guy ropes a few times around the poles helps with rigidity. The last thing I'd mention is if you want some ground cover in the vestibules and some extra protection under the tent Hikeman have a product which works really well with this tent, even though its not designed specifically for it. Credit where credit is due on this mod - th-cam.com/video/-Ii4w7xz9qM/w-d-xo.html Thanks again for a chilled video 👍
Hi! Thanks for the great response. Really appreciate hearing about all the mods and ways of making the tent better. It’s funny you should mention a review as only a couple of days ago I filmed a review of the Cloud Peak 2 v Vango Banshee 300. I recently spotted that the inner is slightly wider at the top 130cm compared to 120cm at the foot end. After the first outing it seemed like a really great tent and to get the T door is helpful. Was £132 on Amazon. They had ten available but think they’ve sold out now and just the JZip for 165 I think. How did you permanently attach the tent roof. Was it a particular knot you used or a different method. That’s a great idea. I was thinking when the wind picked up on the camp I hope that roof stays attached. Learning curve though. Keep an eye out for the review vid coming out on the channel. Thinking of posting either Sunday/Monday night. Good to see the Cloud Peak and the Banshee together. All the best and thanks for watching! Gav
It was so quiet. The night of the eclipse but was clouded over so didn’t see anything. Liked the CloudPeak2 on first impressions. A great budget tent for the cost. I’ve heard to be gentle on the zips as they can come off if they get snagged. Last thing you want at 11pm as the cold descends. Have a great trip out Ian. Thanks for watching! 👊🏻
It was totally unexpected that morning. The forecast the night before was just ‘heavy cloud’. So wasn’t expecting much at all when I was opening the tent zipper. Ended up being quite the view. Glad you enjoyed the vid. What a great hobby to have. Was relieved I didn’t pitch lower as I would have had quite the flood under the tent. 🤦🏻
@@HikingForHealth1 Thanks, I’ve now seen your review. For the last couple of years I’ve been looking at the Vango banshee 300, but now, because of the space, height, footprint and ease of set up, I’m more inclined towards the Cloud Peak. I’m enjoying your videos. Thanks for making them and sharing your thoughts.
@gudgengrebe You’re welcome. I’ve used the CloudPeak on several occasions now and it’s been a really good tent. I’d be careful with the zips as I’ve heard they can snag easily. I’ve been really pleased with it and it doesn’t cost the earth either. 🏕️ thanks for watching.
I had tickets to go the Expo but couldn’t make it in the end unfortunately. We could have said hello! “Yorkshireman pocket” 😂 Amazon had a great deal on these a few weeks back. The T shape zip version too! Result! Thanks for watching Phil.
I've had the cloud peak a few years and love it , took her up Snowdon last week and she stood up to the winds just fine. Where did you park for this camp?
@HikingForHealth1 thank you. Yes Claudia the cloud peak has served me well, i only got Henry the Hilleberg because he was cheap on ebay and is lighter than Claudia for the long distance hikes. I just don't trust the ultra light tents for British weather lol
I was lucky to get hold of the T-zip version. Seems like there are so many ways you can organise the inner doors. Seems like a great tent after it’s first outing. More head room than the Banshee 300 but slightly less width due to the fact that the Banshee uses one of the vestibule spaces for the inner. Glad I got it. Couldn’t stretch to the £1100 for the Allak 2. 😂 🤦🏻 This is like a tenth of the price! Thanks for watching Kieron and all the best.
Thanks, your comment is very much appreciated. Sometimes it’s tricky to get the video out there and seen. Trying not to use any Clickbait type approaches. Thanks for subbing!
I'm starting to really like the look of that tent myself Gav.. and what an atmospheric morning to wake up to! Lovely. 👍
Nice one. Just put a review of it on my channel if you want a closer look. Would recommend the t shape zip!

Looks like you had a great camp....... you're making me feel guilty that I'm hiding away from all the rain we've been having🤣
Thanks, it was well worth getting out. Signs of weather improving over the past couple of days. Hope that’s not jinxed it! 😂 thanks for watching.

Nice video! I think what with enjoying all that room, you will struggle to use your old Vango tent again! 😃
I must admit the extra headroom was nice to have. The Banshee is a nice stealthy tent though. Always nice to get a new tent. 🏕️ thanks for watching.
