Super insightful…don’t give away all your strays though (unless this is on purpose to make your opponents second guess you). With how you describe how your mentality works during a game, you would be an amazing blitz / rapid chess player. As your ability to make very quick strategic plays on a micro second level is how chess prodigy’s play.
@carmenrivera100 at leo's level the comparison to blitz chess is entirely accurate. games trying to cover as many options as possible, of positioning and controlling space, micromatchups of piece or weapon properties. and like chess players thinking many moves ahead, Leo is well known to be someone who plans his actions in smash many many moves ahead taking into consideration his opponent's precise movements. he reads the future which is why he can space so well.
Leo take care of yourself. A lot of smashers and gamers end up with hand problems so take breaks when you can, ice your hands in a bucket whenever you can, use a tens unit, and finally look up dr. Christopher’s bone flesh and cartilage capsules/salve/and tonic. Also try to get blue light blocking glasses with a prescription for your eyes and keep working out/eating healthy. @@NeoNeoNeo I used it after I damaged the cartilage in my knee. When I rub the salve and drink the herbal tonic I can literally feel a healing type of tingling pain. It’s weird but I’ve been slowly recovering. You can look up reviews an any site. Obviously I know that I sound like a fkin weirdo but if I can help someone else I would. It’s easy to ignore hand pain or other types of pain bc your young (leos 19) but this could help him. I want Leo around as long as possible. Don’t like that he’s saying spargo is next in line to be the best when Leo’s just 19.

I like how you understand and embrace that a lot of combos and strings in this game are about DI, reactions, and case by case situations. Too many top players get hung up on “this combo is garbage because it’s not true with proper DI”. Byleth’s Up-B is the perfect example as you said.

The side b mixup seems pretty good, it seems a bit more consistent than dash attack. If neither dash attack or side b will kill after nairquake then the angle side b sends at could be a good setup to land a raw up air if they try to recover high. Other moves like up b or aerial side b can also work for ledgegaurding after that too.
I'm glad you all are starting to pay attention to drag down up air more. Usually I can see I'm gonna get it if I'm past the peak of my jump and my opponent is in up air range, it works every time
Bro Mk could you make a video on the best character to pick between byleth and joker against the whole roaster? I main the two and I go back and forth depending on who I play but I want an even better input. I know most brawl fighters I always pick byleth.
Tier lists are very subjective. There are bad characters but all the viable one are on the same tier and entirely depend on who’s playing. Yes there are characters that are better than others but still in the same tier.

It stands for "Directional influence". Even casual players do it, but they only do it unconsciously when they get launched out of stage. It's when they hold the stick into the stage direction to prevent death from the blast zone. But you can use "DI" not only when get of the stage. If you're going to be launched after an attack/grab/smash, you can manipulate the direction you're going to be sent, so that can not only prevent from death but also to avoid combos. Also there are movements that are combo starter so if you know the correct "DI" the combo will not connect. Like in this case Leo explains that with the correct DI the combo wouldn't work. There's also "LSI" (launch speed influence) but that's another story haha. I hope that my explanation was useful and also clear 'cus my English sometimes it's not good enough 😅

It is important not to do rising up air, you have to manually short hop and then up air (I recommend doing up air with the c stick). You also want to land 4 hits of the up air, the fifth hit will send the opponent flying. Try doing that and try to get a feeling for the fast fall timing. I think I did a 120 combo on battle field but it should also work on PS2, small bf, smashville, lylate and yoshi

I mained Byleth before MkLeo did (immediately when they came out), so I KNOW how GOOD they are 😁 I also found my own combo's and have a different play style then MkLeo's 😉
Personally, I buffer a turn-around by lightly moving the control stick away from the direction you down threw during the throw animation, release the control stick, full hop (I have my left shoulder button set to jump on GameCube controller), and input the bair using C-Stick (in your case, the right stick). The inputs are pretty tight though and it can be a bit tricky to input the turn around without walking/dashing, but you can try slowing down the speed of the game in training mode to get used to the sequence. Something helpful for me was internalizing a rhythm with the sequence. Hope that helps?
