I absolutely agree with this. I remember having a conversation about the responsibility of the believer, and when I mentioned we have the responsibility to repent when we err, the response I received is baffling. The guy said: "Repentance is a works based act designed to get God to respond in a particular way. You just have to know you're already forgiven for any and all things."
This was great. The video on the subject that likely is the first recommendation was super weird and basically tried to discredit the entire notion of being spiritually disciplined.
So what are these spiritual disciplines? He talks about how they’re good but doesn’t talk much of what they actually are. Prayer, fasting, sabbath, Bible reading? Are those it or are there others?
Prayer is basically the discipline of praying to God consistently talking to the Father, fasting is the practice of fasting so fasting, Bible readings reading the Bible and there's more like evangelism, worship, service and etc.
The Fosterian "spiritual disciplines," so-called" has a provenance that traces back to Jesuit Ignatius Loyola. If we go back further this vile, mystic nonsense started with Thomas Magus, from which we get the word "magic." I'll pass on this one, Kenny.
And if we go back even further, we trace it back to Christ. Jesus prayed, sought quiet, we are instructed to medtitate on God in the Psalms. We are called to meet with one another. Just because a Catholic got something right out of most of its error doesn't mean that this is not prescribed by the Scriptures. How can you love God with all your heart mind and strength if you don't intentionally take the time?

Sorry, that’s a silly response.
