I saw them live about 2 months ago and this song is their closer and the adrenaline dump it gives you is like nothing I've ever experienced

I was really moved by your reaction and this reminded me of my first experience with Heilung. I had covid at the time and the high fever made me tired and weak but could not sleep. When I went to bed I put some soothing music on TH-cam. Suddenly I woke up in cold sweats during the live concert of Castlefest and started to get really into to this new music. I don't know exactly why but I cried twice that night and it changed me on a deeper level. One of the songs that made me cry was Hamrer Hippyer and the other Othan. Maria really shines in the Othan performance.

I love how thoughtful and detail oriented you are with this stuff and your meditation on the vocalisations!
I very much ageee about the connection between techno/trance stuff beint connected to this kind of music -- I also enjoy electonic music and I think in some ways it tries to evoke the same kind of states as heilung does.
Also, at the end of the heilung "iotungard" concert, there's a rendition of this song from a few years later where they revamped it, added more energy etc - you'd like it!

Thank you so much for this reaction! I have had the same feelings you are describing here. The very first song I heard of their’s left me weeping and sobbing because it felt as though it awakened part of me that had desperately been trying to surface for my entire life! I am a yoga teacher and have been practicing yoga for 25 years and have experienced many wonderful spiritual moments, but there is something special infused within their music that hits me to the core Every. Single. Time. It’s like a spiritual cleansing every time I experience their vibrations. And yes, I totally get what you are saying about Maria! There is a certain attraction there for me too. It’s not sexual or “damn she’s hot” or anything like that. It’s her stoic, powerful, mystical energy and presence! I feel like if I was up to no good in the forest and happened to run into her, I would be like “Oh, fuuuuuu…” because I was about to get ….corrected , haha! Anyway, thank you again for sharing how this music has affected you. Blessed Be ❤

Music has the capability to nestle deep inside you. You don't even know it's there until something makes it rise to the surface. I'm glad you have found a band that makes your inner music rise to your surface.

Saw them live in August and I will probably see them again this July and yeah, they played that song for the finale as well - and it was incredible. Somebody else already pointed out the Iotungard ritual that was recorded at Red Rocks - it's spectacular. "Elddansurin" might however be my favourite from that performance.

The first thing that surprised me seeing them live is how slight in stature Maria is. Seems imposing on video but in person looks like she'd be lucky to go 100 pounds soaking wet. She is absolutely fascinating to watch.

Amazing song. I tried to comment the explanation of it but I can't, I think TH-cam is censoring something lol. The song is about healing, is usually their last song on a show, concluding once again the feel of healing we get from them

Anywhere wolves walk, people have walked with the wolves. You will really like the song "Suurin" by Kati Ran, it's a magic song, ... on how to become a wolf among sheep.

When I saw them in Stuttgart Germany, I literally had to utilize the UBER app., because I was so entranced that I probably wouldn't be able to find the train station.

    Awesome video!
If you're looking to grow your channel even more, I've noticed that sometimes small SEO improvements like optimizing
video metadata and improving thumbnail visibility can make a big difference.

Somewhat off topic to Heilung and their music, but given what I've seen you enjoy of nordic music on this channel. I would highly recommend checking out the Norwegian band gåte. Either their song Hemnarsverdet (which is a song based on an old Norwegian folk tale hailing from the region of Telemark. It is a story about a personal vendetta, blood revenge and the fatal consequences of these motifs.) Or their song Kjærleik, specifically the version that is Live at Akershus castle, where they collaborate with the Artemis choir who also have worked with acts like Wardruna on their new album.

Dancing to Hamrer Hippyer is so cathartic! I have that same emotional/spiritual connection to Heilung as you do. Jonas Lorentzen does the amazing vocalizations in this 2017 version.
Please check out the 2021 ritual at Red Rocks (LIFA Iotungard) th-cam.com/video/0G5Dj-xMpb8/w-d-xo.html (Hamrer Hippyer is at 1:16:00, so as not to spoil any songs you haven't reacted to yet). Jonas's sister Emilie does incredible vocalizations in that performance, plus Heilung's Harii warriors are joined on stage with Native Americans for an amazing dance at the end!

This is not Nordic music/song, it is eastern/Tibetan.

@@rflair You're wrong, and the song's not even in Old Norse, it's Old High German from the Merseberg Charms. Kai has said that the alternating hamamama/hippippi chant part of the song was inspired by Inuit throat singing.

@@jackg.1683 Heilung presents themselves ask 'Viking', the period language would be Old Norse, High Germanic is a mix language which cam later, so not even period correct, throat singing originated in the Mongolian region, the Inuit also use it, arguably descendent from people of eastern northern Asia.
      Heilung is a mshmash.

    • @jackg.1683
      @jackg.1683 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@rflair They don't even present themselves as Viking. They get their lyrical inspiration from runes, poetry, writing from different eras, mainly the Germanic Iron Age, they use 10 different languages in their music, their clothing is based on Bronze Age and previous eras (Maria Franz's outfit is inspired by the Bad Dürrenberg shaman) artifacts. Throat singing developed independently in different cultures with different styles, it didn't "originate" with Mongolia.
Yeah, they're a "mishmash", they never claimed to represent any single time period or culture. And they take inspiration from other cultures music and incorporate it as well, like Inuit throat singing, Tibetan throat singing, and Indian instruments.
