  • Learn how to clear system data on a Mac with this easy guide. Follow these steps for a step-by-step tutorial on clearing system data:
    1. Understand Cache Files: System data is often cache files, which are temporary storage to improve user experience but can take up a lot of space over time.
    2. Open Finder: On your Mac, open Finder.
    3. Go to Library: Hold the Command key, the Shift key, and tap the letter G. Erase whatever's there, hold the Shift key, press the tilde key (below the Escape key), and then type "/Library" and press Enter.
    4. Find Caches: Scroll down and click on Caches. These are the temporary folders and files that help save loading time.
    5. Check Storage Usage: Go into a specific folder (e.g., Adobe), hold Command, and tap the letter I to see how much storage it's using. If it's taking up too much space, you can delete it.
    6. Delete Cache Files: Delete the cache files you no longer need. This will not affect your current projects as they will reload the next time you open the app.
    7. Empty Trash: Go to your trash bin, right-click, and hit "Empty Trash" to remove the deleted files permanently.
    8. Verify System Data: Check your system settings to see the reduction in system data.
This guide covers everything you need for clearing system data on a Mac. Whether you're an avid Adobe user who's stuck with hundreds of gigs of cache files, or just need a little extra space. I’m sorry about that! My friend had the same issue. I just did some internet digging and TH-cam watching and also found multiple other sources saying it’s okay to delete that Adobe folder that I show in the video under Caches. Just make sure Adobe products are closed when you delete it. I did actually delete it on my computer while making this video and things are still running smoothly. It will be regenerated for the projects you use the next time you open it. Would love to hear if it fixed your 90gb issue.

Great question, it depends. There are tons of folders in there that the Mac is actively using, so it may cause some hiccups.
What I’d do that helped clear it out quickly without deleting everything:
      1. Highlight ~15 at a time and then press Command I
      2. Quickly scan the popups for what has the most gigs (normally apps like Chrome, Adobe, etc). The Mac system apps normally have only a few megabytes / kilobytes, just leave those.
3.) Delete any of those giant folders that stand out.
      4.) Repeat for remaining folders.
I was able to go through all folders and clean it out in 1-2 minutes. Pretty quick that way.
