This discussion is talking with confected excitement about developments that are still pedestrian. How is it that America is only just waking up to the fact that INTEGRATION of home generators (solar +/- wind) storage (DC-coupled for efficiency, AC-coupled for peak power demand & EV for buffering capacity) and grid (for plunge-pricing, demand management, time-of-use) and usage (demand-shifting)....INTEGRATION of these is components with a powerful, user-modifiable rules-based control system is KEY? I've yet to find any manufacturer to whom it has occurred that combining AC- and DC-coupled batteries (for their complementary strengths) might be a good idea.

It would be great if you could do a video on surge protection. Spending $40,000 on a back up and solar kit yet I see almost nothing that covers lightning protection.

If I'm getting 1:1 net metering in IL, why would I need a battery outside of grid outages (which are very few per year for me - maybe two per year for 20-40 minutes each)? I just put excess power on the grid and pull it back whenever I need it. My utility (Comed) has said I can't buy at night, store in the battery, and sell back during the day. They don't allow battery energy to be sold.

Don’t need a controller with a 5p really? Surely you need one with the first battery, then subsequent ones do not need other controller? The Enphase app does not give the consumer enough info, the only battery info is percentage of charge, so if there are any issues, it is not possible to see where the problem is. No temperature specs, or cell voltage, only grid voltage. Nowhere near what is possible with things like a VICTRON setup .

Without the controller you lose backup. But you can still charge and discharge
