I feel ya, Violent J. I was diagnosed with heart failure in April of 2022. I had had this swelling in my right foot for awhile, had been trying to find out what was causing it but the doctor didn't know because the tests they did didn't show anything abnormal. Then my right calf started swelling up and I became severely winded, like you described. One night all of a sudden, I could not breathe. I knew I would be dead if I didn't call 911. The ambulance came, I couldn't even go answer the door, they had to force their way in with a cop's help. By the time I was taken to the ambulance I had blacked out, first time in my life, very scary. Woke up in the ER, on a ventilator to help me breathe. Finally I found out what was wrong with me. In my case, I inherited heart failure, it runs on my mom's side. That is what killed her, her twin brother, and several sisters. Thank goodness we are still alive, VJ! Take care of yourself and long life to you.

It's so crazy that I grew up watching these guys, they're always so haywire and part of my childhood with ICP and jackass. Now to see them both up there sober with more honesty integrity than any politician you could think of is heartwarming. I love you guys thanks for putting this episode together. I can't wait to hear Steve-O rap again 🔥
I almost liked your comment, and then I read the last line wanting Steve-O to rap again and I thought I'd send you this reply instead. Steve-O is awesome, but not at rapping
Can't really say I'm much of a fan of their stuff, but gotta give them credit for essentially crafting their own whole culture and giving people a place and a community to be part of, so kudos.
Stevo has a gift of being able to break down walls of people and making them comfortable to discuss very hard issues. I'm so proud of him for being/remaining sober. Also, VJ-good job man. Keep doing good.
Loved ICP in middle school and as a man I have much respect for these guys and everything they’ve built and accomplished. Very humble and enjoying life!
Before everyone had the internet and a cell phone, hearing something like The Great Milenko for the first time when you were a little kid just hit different. The only music we had access to was the TV or radio, and most of the chain stores wouldn't even carry rap, death metal, etc. CDs were passed around and shared like.... well nothing today. Nobody does that with anything anymore. But when they did, when you heard shit like ICP for the first time, it just made it that much more alluring. And they're still doing it after all that time.
Stevo you’ll never read this, but I was a heroin attic at 15 a full-blown alcoholic at 17. I overdosed three times died once. And you have been an inspiration to me. Please keep doing what you’re doing because people like me see you and your beautiful wife and your life that you built being a junkie and a piece of shit, and still coming out on top. Thank you for everything you do!
You were an addict. You were addicted to substances, which is a horrible addiction. Notice the keyword "addict". Also note the keyword "WERE"-past tense.
I grew up listening to J and shaggy since ring master dropped. I’m a family man now and I don’t listen to the new stuff after the 6th jokers card but, these interviews just make me happy to get to know the guys that had such a big influence on me when I was young. Thanks J and Shagz and the rest of the Psychopathic crew.

Thank you Steveo for this awesome interview

Violent J, if you read this, I listened to your music all the time back in the day with my buddy Hector who introduced me to you guys. He just passed away a couple months ago way too young at age 40 from diabetes complications, which doesn't even seem real... But you guys and your music make me think of him. Your friendship with them is so endearing & makes these interviews such a joy to watch. You could have them on your show once a week and I'd never get bored watching them. I'll always be rooting for them!
I know i dont speak for everyone but i am here to say to J, shaggy, Twiztid, boondocks, abk and roc and anyone else that held the hatchet that all of you could retire tomorrow and it be well deserved. You provided so much to this world only for it to constantly turn around and shit on you. You guys are legends.
I am a huge fan of their music, been listening to them since I was a kid, 20 years ago. Glad you are doing better J, Steve O, thank you for having him on. This is truly enjoyable!
So happy these guys are getting the respect they deserve and it isn't cool to hate them for no reason anymore. They got so much hate just because it was like the "cool" thing to do. Love them or hate them you can't deny they stayed true to themselves and never sold out and always stayed humble. They could've road off into the sunset a million times and be set forever but they kept going ignoring the hate and doing them pretty much strictly for their fans, and you have to respect that.
Been a huge fan since the 90s. Just got sober this year and J’s way of going about staying sober is very close to how I’ve been going about it. I’ve heard a lot of interviews but Steve-O’s are the best. He’s talking to Joe and Joey, not Violent J and Shaggy. It’s great!! All great dudes!
Even if you don't like their music you have to admit that Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are amaziongly interesting people. They have so many crazy stories and a great attitude. The clowns get too much hate. It wasn't until I watched them in interviews that I became a fan of theirs. They are decent guys who care about their fans.
I think people just see the paint, the attitude in the music videos/events, and the music itself and assume they are full of hate. Like if you really listen it's honestly just like they give their intrusive thoughts an outlet through their music. 90% of their songs are a miss for me personally. But I have always been a fan of Shaggy and J because of the things they say outside of their "character" setting where they can express their own personal outlooks. Then you start to see, nah, these dudes are full of love.

Oof, that's rough
Both these guys are amazing human beings. Love seeing them both sober and living their lives!
Him saying, “ you just gotta eat it.” is so real. Eating pain, forcing it down. Not to be dramatic, but accepting pain and swallowing it has helped me a lot.
I needed to read this.. thank you
No pain, no gain…. Peace💯
“We hungry.”
Man it’s really obvious how much Steve admires J. Steve was grinning during a lot of J’s stories.
how could anyone not be grinin while around J hes a cool ass dude an im just glad people are actully able to see it all these years later because for a very long time people hated ICP
I noticed that too. They're good friends and have been a while now!! I'm also glad people are seeing J for who he really is cause like someone mentioned before me, a lot of people hated ICP. (Most hated band!)
I noticed that too. They're good friends and have been a while now!! I'm also glad people are seeing J for who he really is cause like someone mentioned before me, a lot of people hated ICP. (Most hated band!)
Absolutely!
I almost liked your comment, and then I read the last line wanting Steve-O to rap again and I thought I'd send you this reply instead. Steve-O is awesome, but not at rapping
Violent J would make a good politician, he'd be splitting wigs at every debate 😂
Glad you’re still here with us, keep it up.

😢
My brother showed me ICP when i was 10 im now 35 and i am still down with the clown and will be forever! Their music is awesome and they are the most humble, down to earth guys! I wish everyone would give them more recognition and respect. Their music is so different from anything else and at times very deep and has alot of meaning behind it. Love you J and Shaggs! Thank you Steveo for this awesome interview
13 when my best pal showed me Milenko ✌️❤️
Down w the clown til I'm dead in the ground
Their music sucks but yeah
Glad to see both of these legends thriving out here 🔥
Ive never enjoyed ICP's music, but I've thoroughly enjoyed every interview ive seen with Violent J. He just seems like a genuinely good dude who really cares about his fans and his art. Much respect.
Hyped for this! Always will have love for ICP and the memories made growing up listening to them and the rest of Psychopathic records!
This podcast was epic. Been listening to icp for 25 years
I’m very sorry
Two dudes I listened to and watched since my teens. Never thought id see this interview but definitely happy it happened.
The way this dude speaks about his fans and his people is str8 up admirable... Their music may not appeal to many but the sheer fuckin loyalty is unmatched... Str8 respect to this man
Super kind, humble dude. Just further proves, no one should lay judgement on anyone else.
That's the whole Juggalo message right there! 💥💪
@@greensheeplizz2289 You ain't a lie
But if it a grown up wearing clown makeup ehhhhhh maybe
Violent J, if you read this, I listened to your music all the time back in the day with my buddy Hector who introduced me to you guys. He just passed away a couple months ago way too young at age 40 from diabetes complications, which doesn't even seem real... But you guys and your music make me think of him. This podcast was great and it's so refreshing to see what a real, authentic dude you are. Keep on doing your thing, man.
Sorry for your loss.
Steve recognizing that J MAY BE STRUGGLING with sobriety and being supportive BUT mentioning that if what J is doing STOPS working that there are other opitons.....YOUR A GOOD MAN STEVE-O....WE LOVE YOU J...BE WELL BROTHER 1:00:22
Yup and you could see stevo attitude shift slightly knowing J isn’t quite where he needs to be but at the same time in the middle of an interview isn’t the place to address it. I love J but he is still in denial a little hope he gets where he needs to be we do recover
And props to stevo reading the energy but not being disrespectful
ICP music is not for me but I love J & Shaggy as people, they're so humble and hardworking and open like a book. I'm forever fascinated by them.
ICP was my 1st concert back in 8th grade. 09 The bang pow boom tour. Glad Violent J is back on the podcast!
Must have had some terrible parent(s) to be allowed to go to that
@WiseOwl_1408 when did you start listening to ICP? Or do you?
That was my first show too. In cleveland
Loved this interview. Glad to hear J is doing well. You guys have a great vibe together, definitely bring him back in the future!
Shaggy and Jay are always surprisingly well spoken and kind. Respect.
Shaggy" know what I'm sayin?"
He says “you know what I mean” every 10 seconds. So eloquent
@@Kingspade419So it's Violent J-Roc. So what?
Even if you don't like their music you have to admit that Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are amaziongly interesting people. They have so many crazy stories and a great attitude. Their continued success despite being so niche speaks volumes about their marketing skills.I firmly believe that getting caught in a faygo and confetti shower while homies is playing is an experience everyone should have before they die.
Violent J is just such a good dude. What a great interview.
I love how these Michigan guys never leave. I'm at from Kalamazoo and I left never to come back but I still have so much love and Michigan pride.
Violent J is a cool ass dude. I was a juggalo in the late 90s and one time after a show in Tucson I had a backstage pass and met icp and I asked j if he had any weed cus I was all out, dude reached in his pocket pulled out a bag and said keep it bro. What a cool ass dude
Nice!
Hell ya man. Dude is so down to earth man. Real guy that made his own path
Whoop Whoop, I'm blessed to have been apart of the juggalo community since I was 13 (now 29) thank you Joe and Joey... you guys changed my life.

Been a juggalette since I was 11 years old. Went to my first ICP concert in the 8th grade at 12. I absolutely love them. They are the most misunderstood and awesome band and it’s so cool to see so many people commenting on how humble and awesome Violent J is.

I’m so happy Steve has a podcast. Another legend I can tune into and learn more about.
I've been a fan of ICP since 1996 when I was only 12 years old which is 27 years now. I kinda lost track of them for a while but always dug how cool both J and Shaggy are. Even saw them play with Biohazard in Washington DC at the 9:30 Club back in I think 1998. I still remember that show! This is a really great interview.
Violent J looks better than ever.
Wtf you mean he looks exactly the same 😂😂 he look like a clown
J looks so scary & he’s actually SO NICE!!! Wtf??? He’s so down to Earth & genuine!!!
Dope episode I’m not the biggest fan of the music but mad respect to ICP great humble guys . They deserve all the success

I’ve never actually had an interest in ICP other than just basic knowledge of the music and fan base. I should go to one
I've never been a fan of their music but I know for damn sure that ICP are a national treasure!
Was a huge fan since I was a teen! Don’t really listen to the music as much anymore but still love them!
Steve o is such a good dude it’s almost not real. It’s cool watching someone you looked up to as a kid evolve into better and better things.
Then why would he be trying to get out of paying income taxes?
Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope has been in almost every major pro wrestling promotion that you can think of WWF/WWE, WCW, TNA, and ROH then they made there own
Joe is always an interesting guest. I'm listening to his audio book now and he's a genius for sure.
I have been on a violent j and shaggy interview trip lately... they are both such genuinely down to earth and chill dudes. I was a young juggalo but I've kind of outgrown the music and lifestyle in my old age but I go back and listen to them almost annually and I just love war hing videos of them telling stories and hanging out bullshitting.... I would love to sit and hang out with them. I know it would be a blast.
I will never forget my ICP shows back in the day. That shit was so wild. The memories from the OG 6 cards is for sure the greatest memories.
My brother is a devoted juggalo. Growing up I heard their music secondhand off him and it horrified me as a kid but was always musically good. As a result I know many ICP songs by heart pretty much against my will haha But I also love them in a way.
Steve o is killing it with these time stamps
The legendary Violent J has contributed to the happiness, entertainment, and support system of countless people through his creative talents
I don't listen to ICP except on rare occasions but they've always been at the top of my list of rappers I'd smoke a blunt with dudes are so chill and genuine

I met him a few years ago, he bought me a beer at Sammy’s & was a total gentleman!

Great interview. You know what I’m saying?
The clowns get too much hate. It wasn't until I watched them in interviews that I became a fan of theirs. They are decent guys who care about their fans.
I think people just see the paint, the attitude in the music videos/events, and the music itself and assume they are full of hate.
Like if you really listen it's honestly just like they give their intrusive thoughts an outlet through their music. 90% of their songs are a miss for me personally. But I have always been a fan of Shaggy and J because of the things they say outside of their "character" setting where they can express their own personal outlooks. Then you start to see, nah, these dudes are full of love.
The Duke of the Wicked looks so much healthier this year on stage. I was nervous in the pit last year watching him. V-J looked like death. SO GLAD he's doing better!! Violent J is the man! Thank you both for doing this Podcast.
Violet J is the best!

I found out about ICP back in 97, I’m not a fan of their music but I don’t hate them. They created a brand and kept it consistent, they never sold their souls. I’m happy to see they are still doing their thing and still selling out shows.
