Taylor writes , composes and directs and produces , for her it is about her work more than anything. Also she is in full control to use it in movies , shows and more. In long term it's more money than one shot sale

If u sell u don't own crap this is a new trend the only way an artist would do that if they are hurting for money like Bruno and those gambling debts

Frank Zappa started all this with buying his catalogs from Warner Bros. and Verve. He formed Barking Pumpkin for distribution. Recently, the family sold the catalogue to Universal. The Turtles, Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, followed Frank's lead and, after fighting with lawyers for years, got their own catalogue back. They have not yet sold.

It will keep their music out there, meanwhile the cash payoff can be left to their heirs....much easier for heirs to manage the money rather than the music catalog, especially if heirs are in another career track.

Prince is rolling over in his grave about this. This would have been the last thing he wanted.
I respect Air Supplies decision though. These men are gaining age and want their music to live on after them.

Bring them back in holographic images with the licensed catalog so "The Show Must Go On".

Since streaming, artists don't make that much money anymore, so they rather sell to get a huge sum once rather than having their income from it diminishing over time.
