In fact, this was even that time a "superhero team parody" film and not s simple "superhero team" film, but yeah it was pretty cool to see it's not completely forgotten even now...
I've been a Mystery Men fan since FLAMING CARROT #16! When I saw Ben Stiller screaming at chick and duck on FRIENDS I knew he would perfect as Mr. Furious. The Universe was listening!
Great to see so many other fans for this unjustly forgotten classic! Searingly funny and yet full of heart, a movie I enjoy every time I see it. As off the wall as Rustlers Rhapsody and as badly snubbed, I'm thrilled to see others appreciating it too.
It was so way ahead of its time. I lived in a third world country and enjoyed it back in the days only because I’d been familiar with superheroes in comics but I can see how it will be very hard to appeal to average audience back in the days even in the west.
@@nayaunglatt It was really “behind” the times. That movie made fun of all the old comic book stuff. The pool party/auditions were the best. Wafflemaaan! The waffler golden crispy bad guys are history! And the scene in Captain Amazing’s limo, that whole thing was a scream. And a bonus, his “publicist” was magician Ricky Jay.
This movie was ahead of its time. It's basically a superhero spoof, and it came out 10 years too early (before Spiderman or X-Men), and "superhero fatigue" wasn't a concept yet.
I remember watching this as a kid, right after renting it from Blockbuster and snacking on some movie theater butter popcorn. Ah, those were the days☺️
Watching this again I think it came out at the wrong time, right now we are swamped with superhero films it would have fit in it has some funny lines and decent effects for the time.
I love this movie! It breaks my heart ♥️ that it didn't do well. It seems to me like the way it ended that they were setting it up for a sequel. And the fact that Casanova's girlfriend just disappeared and you never knew what happened to her 🤔. Like, maybe she escaped the final battle and was to be the main villain in a sequel? Unfortunately, we'll never know. ☹
Great movie. Before Deadpool, we had Mystery Men. As the years pass the better this movie gets when compared to the movies we have now. Mystery Men didn’t take itself seriously, it was full of jokes and made fun itself, that was the whole point. You can see the brilliance. Its definitely better than Deadpool 1.
HEY NOW YOU'RE AN ALL STAR GET YOUR GAME ON, GO PLAY HEY NOW YOU'RE A ROCKSTAR GET THE SHOW ON GET PAID AND ALL THAT GLITTERD IS GOLD ONLY SHOOTING STARS BREAK THE MOLD
Better than ANY of the superhero movies made in the last 10 years. Each of these characters could have had their own movie, or origin story, and I would have watched ALL of them.
That’s what happens in an oligarchy where executives and directors are the same person tragically. This movie was when artists and visionaries were able to produce and direct and it ain’t hard to tell.
I thought it was a riot! Everybody in the cast is awesome. I want to find a used dvd and watch it after I get done fighting evil while I deliver food...😊
I was doing volunteer work overseas in '99, so I missed a lot of pop culture back home, including this one! This looks hilarious! The upside is that I can watch it for the first time now!
Hearing the Army of Darkness music in this trailer makes me think they should have tried to give Bruce Campbell some kind of role in this movie. With its comical tone and style and the previous stuff he was in, he'd have fit right in and made an already awesome movie even better.
superhero parody movie way ahead of it's time. where are these movies today? my favourite hero was the one who could turn invisible as long as no one is looking.
Naw, try Doom Patrol. It's way more like Mystery Men...also Umbrella Academy was literally created as an homage to the 80s Doom Patrol comics, and the creator of Umbrella Academy went on to write Doom Patrol comics in the 2010s
I am proud to tell everyone that I was one of the 58 people world-wide who saw this at the theater.
🤣
I watched it on the same year of its release and still proud.

Before there was X-Men, the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Justice League, THIS was like the first superhero team movie.
In fact, this was even that time a "superhero team parody" film and not s simple "superhero team" film, but yeah it was pretty cool to see it's not completely forgotten even now...
The Super Squad!!
I've been a Mystery Men fan since FLAMING CARROT #16! When I saw Ben Stiller screaming at chick and duck on FRIENDS I knew he would perfect as Mr. Furious. The Universe was listening!
You forgot to mention The Fantastic Four
Actually there was a 1994 Fantastic Four film.
The most underrated superhero film ever. This had massive potential to be a franchise, I wish they could reboot it.
I agree that it is incredibly underrated, but I don't want to see a reboot. Some things are just better left the way the were.
Be careful what you wish for there.
Saw this in theaters.
It's my favorite movie. I watch it at least times a year.
The show Doom Patrol is a pretty good successor to MM. It's like if MM was more tragic and they had stronger powers

A cult classic!,it was too ahead of its time!
i actually do kind of agree this movie was actually pretty good from what i remember.
and the trailer did not show every single joke there were still quite a few funny jokes in this movie that caught me of guard lol.
I believe it was the first super team movie BEFORE X-Men
I have watched this movie literally hundreds of times and it just keeps getting better.
This movie looks like a high budget homemade passion project.

The 90s was a weird period
yes.
every other blockbuster superhero movie today has elements of this film's camp
The bubble is always biggest before it bursts. And boy did the fun bubble shortly hereafter burst.
This movie was ahead of its time. It's basically a superhero spoof, and it came out 10 years too early (before Spiderman or X-Men), and "superhero fatigue" wasn't a concept yet.
Rest in peace Pee-wee. You will always be the spleen for me
I remember watching this as a kid, right after renting it from Blockbuster and snacking on some movie theater butter popcorn. Ah, those were the days☺️
God I miss blockbuster..those really were the ol' days.
I just rented it on my console. I've got to buy it. It's a diamond in the rough. Lol
When I don't have time to watch my favorite movie for comfort, I come here to watch the trailer. I'm so grateful for this movie.
Watching this again I think it came out at the wrong time, right now we are swamped with superhero films it would have fit in it has some funny lines and decent effects for the time.
"Swamped"... All Star...
@@LewysC Fits in perfectly
i think it came out at the perfect time
@@naturesquad9174 Ahead of its time.
RIP Paul and Steve.
“We’re not your classic super heroes, we’re the other guys”
Someone made a post about this movie on Reddit today and now I am here watching this trailer after not having thought about this movie in 20+ years.
I love this movie! It breaks my heart ♥️ that it didn't do well. It seems to me like the way it ended that they were setting it up for a sequel. Still got this on dvd, and it still makes me laugh everytime I watch it.
This still kicks Avengers' ass.
I have a feeling that it's easy to find invisible boy (Kel). All you gotta do is look for a bottle of orange soda "floating" in mid air. 😂
honestly, Avengers now seems a lack of sense. didnt like them in Age of Ultron and Civil War.
hillncer1 you’re crazy...
Its hilarious that this was the first TEAM superhero movie, and it somehow aged better than almost all the others
@Nature Squad
How?
Before Shrek, there was the Mystery Men.
Before Shrek, before the Mystery Men even before deadpool there was
THE MASK!
Thank you! This is the theme for the song!!!
It was the same year or right after this. X-men came out literally months after this did.
These guys need to fight Thanos.
This movie deserves another look today.
I have both zero memory of this movie and 100% recollection of the scenes of this movie.
I find it really ironic that this film has some of the biggest names as main characters yet many people don’t know about this movie
indeed barbossa, the last mohican, dracumel, jennifer connely dustin hoffman and way many big names in iconic movies xD
I've forgotten how good this movie is. Defiantly deserves a good sequel or remake.
I love this movie! Always thought “The Other Guys” would’ve been a good name for this movie aswell.
A very underappreciated movie in its day, over the last 2 1/2 decades it has only became more apparent how ahead of its time it really was.
One of my favourite movies. I really hope they do another one
Just watched this movie and it is actually surprisingly great
Back before everything became reboots remakes and “woke” bullshit. 90s we’re special

a 10/10 movie and also the SOURCE of the Allstar music video.....UNDERRATED
As a kid in the 90s this was a big movie to us it looked so cool
It’s insane that this entire movie is basically just the lore for the All-Star music video now
Oh my God you're so right.
That explains the weird scene in the music video where they're weird guys infront of the band lead
RIP Paul Ruben Peewee Herman ❤
Here I'm paying Tribute to Steve Harwell and the initial release of ALL STAR for the Mystery Men Soundtrack. RIP
This movie introduced Smash Mouth's hit single "All Star" to the world when it came out 25 years ago to this day (August 6, 1999)
They turned the guys from the All-Star music video into a real thing
Before The Boys there were the Mystery Men.
Dude, this is a good movie. It helps me come up with a new story.
We need a sequel!
Better than ANY of the superhero movies made in the last 10 years. Each of these characters could have had their own movie, or origin story, and I would have watched ALL of them.
Ok boomer
Are they using the Army of Darkness music at the beginning of the trailer?
That music is interesting to listen to.
That music clip is also in the trailer for....SHREK
God bless myself for my childhood memories with this movie.
I absolutely love this film!
"what do we got here, fellas, an antique show?" omg am I the only one who watched it with the youtube captions (they're ridiculous!)
I freaking love this movie
Film sets and city designs looked great in the 90's. Now everything looks like an apple store and Detroit. The hell?
That’s what happens in an oligarchy where executives and directors are the same person tragically. This movie was when artists and visionaries were able to produce and direct and it ain’t hard to tell.
recently re watched this , still good to this day
Genuine stories with genuine characters tend to become timeless in a plastic diluted media world.
Such a underrated FILM 🎞‼️
TOTALLY starlord at 1:35
What was the name of that song? I remember seeing it in an Apple commercial once (an old one, of course)
jamesthemaniac Lol your right
Pseudo3D Just search burn baby burn
Disco Inferno by the Tramps
This movie is better than the entire MCU combined.
I watched that Smash Mouth video some many times and never realised this was for a proper film...wut
Clever and witty in all the ways that the modern MCU wishes it could be.
Pee wee herman is here!!
Movie was 10/10 IDGAF what anybody says.
We so need a sequel to Mystery Men, with their kids !!!
We need more films that have these ridiculous, over the top cities like they did back in the 90's.
I love this movie! Saw it with my teenage nephew. I bought the videotape. The lines are priceless
this was part of my childhood...
and now there's Avengers
This is such a time capsule to the early 2000s
Happy 20th Anniversary !!!
I thought it was a riot! Everybody in the cast is awesome. I want to find a used dvd and watch it after I get done fighting evil while I deliver food...😊
Who loves orange soda? The invisible man does.
I guess we all know the writers from Deadpool 2 watched this movie before copying and adjusting the script for their own production.
Way better than avengers end game or infinity war
How the hell did I live my life not knowing this exists?
I’m proud to say my dad brought the dvd for me to watch watch one night and forget about it
2020 now this movie came out when I was kid and I still remember how good this movie was ( silent but deadly💀)
Better than anything Marvel or DC made.

I love how nobody noticed the first piece of music is from Evil dead 3 army of darkness.
Hearing the Army of Darkness music in this trailer makes me think they should have tried to give Bruce Campbell some kind of role in this movie. With its comical tone and style and the previous stuff he was in, he'd have fit right in and made an already awesome movie even better.
If he would’ve been an adviser to casenova I could def see that. But still amazing without him.
He could have been Captain Amazing.
He could have been The Flaming Carrot. It's a shame that character didn't appear in the movie.
This was my first PG-13 movie. And the passion of the Christ was my first R rated movie.
I must’ve been the only kid obsessed with this movie
This is the all star movie
Just watched this referenced in the latest Joe Scott video and after watching the trailer, I'm gonna watch it. Looks funny 😁
Geez, the ad before 'Mystery Men' just revealed EVERY story beat! #notsurprised
Great Soundtrack
why there is the "Army of Darkness" theme in the intro?
I guess it is because Universal distributed the movie

Yoooo ive been trying to remember what this movie was for sooo long!!
THIS HAS TO BE REBOOTED!!
No...
...a sequel!
Or just redistribute the film in theatres and give discounts for watching. Not every good/great movie needs to be repeated, it’s how stories die.
I love this movie!
