I lived at 8481 feet and I can assure you that you can't run very far or even walk at a brisk pace very far at that altitude. I would get winded walking up my driveway but when I would go down 2000 feet to Colorado Springs (where the Olympians train for high altitude) to work part time at a warehouse, I would run circles around dudes half my age.

Some are considerably older than me. I’m in my 60s and hike, snowshoe, and Nordic ski at 10,000+ ft without difficulty. Only skate-skiing leaves me gasping, but I still do it! It helps that I live at 9,000 ft. But you’re right that there’s a temporary burst of energy and stamina when one lives at high altitude and then goes down to lower altitudes.

And just naming off guns that YOU think should be employed in this movie, without knowing where they may have gotten them OR what their availability even were. Good job. Now go out and actually learn about weapons systems. You'll learn it's not about the age of the weapon but the caliber that you use to destroy your kill. Little things like rifles over 100 years old can give more power in a 45/70 or 458 Lott than a puny 5.56 fired from an M249 or M4. Hell I'd rather have a BAR from the 1930s that fired 30.06 rounds at full auto (less weight to carry). But none of that would do any good if none of those weapons were available to choose from. This movie was actually decent. It was a victim of poor marketing.
bro all of these people say this movie sucks from what i say some people say here why carry guns if they dont work. in one of theyre scenes they said the bullet stalls the alienn for a bit giving the time to run. i watched the entire movie indeed there are mistakes but the gun thing had a little purpose.
mostly to protect themselves from other surviving humans who want their gear, food, info of their hiding spot and prob. his females.
