Man, Manie gives me the jitters. But, what I do appreciate is that unlike a Carlos Spencer or Gaffie du Toit that also blew hot and cold, he often manages to turn his game around.
I have heaps of respect for the guy. Having an unpredictable X factor flyhalf, and a deadeye sharp shooter in the wings, is good for the Boks imo.

As a non South African, I find the difference in attendance and atmosphere between Cape Town and Johannesburg incredible! Stormers are such a great asset to the URC. The Lions on the other hand! 🙁😠

If you want to compare, try apples with apples. If you refer to Cape Town, I would assume where the stadium for this game was located, (much safer than where the stadium is in JHB. Cape town the city you cannot say it's like a European city compared to JHB, put that stadium in the heart of Sandton or Rosebank or whatever area then it would be different.@@wilfredsmith183
We have watched plenty of games at DHL stadium and never have we felt unsafe! even had pre and post game parties there walking around and club hopping no incidents

@@revripple SA teams had to do double the travelling depending on whether they are playing in Australia or NZ. When NZ and Aus teams play each other, they travel short distances. They should have made it that each country host the competition every year, but then the players will be away from their families for too long. Distance and time zone differences just doesnt work for that competition. URC is better

Well done stormers from a leinster fan just shows what is more important with the squad they sent down there . Hoping for a win v saints next week also shows lack of gametime for youth players and the breaks in the season have made a bad impact on youth players credit where credit is due stormers played well I say they are in the playoffs. This plan leo does 3 seasons for the tours in sa and it backfires sometime needs to change.

We need to work at bridging the gap between out 2nd/ 3rd string players and the 1st string players.
It's always win or learn. Today we learn.
Rather than bridging the gap to your 2nd/3rd stringers, let's campaign for a comp structure that ensures all teams play their 1st stringers more regularly. I mean, even F1 teams have a cap on how much they can spend. And yes, that should be done in conjunction with scheduling of the EPCR to make that comp more fair and competitive.
Maybe limit the number of players in a squad to say 35. If one of them has to be replaced due to injury, the replaced player cannot return. Something like that.
In 3 seasons of URC, Leinster have not once deemed it necessary to send their 1st team to SA. Conversely, Munster have done it the hard way and earned a lot of respect here, and a cup.
Try as one might to be fair, it's difficult to not have some degree of schadenfreude whenever Leinster stumble at the last hurdle. Let's hope for another season of that, ie truly deserving teams winning both the URC and EPCR.
This league is a joke sometimes, teams travelling to South Africa won’t bring their ‘A’ side and teams travelling out of South Africa won’t bring their ‘A’. Spoils the competition slightly

Leinster have given top spot up to Glasgow, but have an easier run in for the last 3. They play two home against Ospreys and Connacht and one away to Ulster. Glasgow must play two against Bulls and Lions in South Africa and finish at home to Zebre. Munster are only 1 point behind Leinster and have a similar run for the last three. Going to be a tight finish with the Bulls not far behind Munster. There is even a possibility of Leinster and Munster going 1 and 2 if they collect close to maximum points from their last three. Should be fun. 4 teams in the hunt for top spot.
Whining about the Leinster second/third-string sides turning up for these games, all over the comment section. They have a Heineken Cup semi-final to prepare for against a very strong Northampton, and they didn't really need to win these games, seeing as they're currently second in the URC table. Leinster badly need to win the Heineken Cup this year, far more so than the URC.

International outfit? The vast majority of the Leinster squad are Irish born. It's the French sides, in particular, who have a lot of foreign signings. All the Leinster first team were left at home being rested for their champions cup semi final. Leinster could afford to lose both URC games and still make the playoffs.

Same thing happens in the Guinness premiership and top 14. I've seen French/English sides sent b teams to Ireland in champions cup qualifying games over the years because they were focused on their own league.
The reality is you when sides are involved in the latter stages of 2 competitions simultaneously, they have to prioritise and rotate their squads if they're going to compete. Leinsters goal is to win the champions cup because that is the ultimate prize. The Irish sides prioritise the Champions cup. It's always been that way. Munster are prioritising the URC because they're out of the champions cup. If they were still in it, they'd have sent a second/third string weak side to SA too.
Jake White decided to focus on the URC over the Champions Cup a couple of weeks ago, probably because he saw the URC as more winnable.

Stormers are back to winning ways. I am glad. Glad to see they didnt let last week ruin their chances of beating the second on the log club. It seems Leinster are not as far and away the best team in the URC right now. They are sacrificing a lot to win this year's ICC. I have yet to see them win either since the SA franchises joined the NH. Lets see what happens next weekend

On the plus side, a debut was made, but as a group they have not played enough with each other. Horrendous defence looked just as disconnected as they did against the Lions. Next weekend is where it’s at. 82500 in attendance will expect a bit more.

😂 You can only play what’s on the field in front of you and if it’s a 2nd or 3rd string team then smash them. That’s what stormers did. And they are a star studded outfit whereas the Stormers are a team with few stars but lots of up and coming players. SA teams find it hard to compete with the huge salaries offered to our players especially when you had the exchange rate into the equation.

Leinster should be kicked out the league. They don't treat it seriously and just play their youth team in most of the matches. They done the exact same last season and even played a second string in the semi final against Munster. It shows a blatant disrespect not only for the league, but also for the opposition and especially the fans. I am sure the South African fans would have loved to have watched a Leinster team full of star studded Irish internationals. Instead they get to watch a team of unknowns.
They seem to view the league as more of a hindrance than anything else.
And yet they still make the semi-finals / final every year so clearly it works
Leinster doesn't give a shite about the URC. They're not worried if they don't win it every year. The Champions Cup is the holy grail to them.

Leinster have a semi-final in the Heineken cup to think about. Sending down their first string squad for two games they don't need to win before a European Cup semi-final....would be monumentally risky. Munster, by comparison, only have the URC league to play, hence they sent down their first strings and won both. To be expected by Leinster with everything they have coming up.

I'd agree with this. We hear all this talk of strength in depth and a conveyor belt of talent coming through but I'm not seeing it. Like you say a few years ago a second/third string Leinster side could still compete with most top sides.
Only 3 or 4 were backups (Jenkins, Alatoa, maybe Milne), the rest were 3rd string or Academy.

So good that he goes unnoticed but if you know the game and pay attention you realise half the tries come from him.
