The ON push button starts the circuit by initially energizing the STAR CONTACTOR Coil of the star circuit and the Timer Coil (TIMER) circuit. When Star Contactor Coil (KM1) energized, Star Main and Auxiliary contactor change its position from NO to NC.
When Star Auxiliary Contact becomes NO to NC it’s complete The Circuit of Main contactor Coil ... so Main Contactor Coil energized and Main and Auxiliary Contact Change its Position from NO to NC. This sequence happens in a fraction of time.
After pushing the ON push button switch, the auxiliary contact of the main contactor coil which is connected in parallel across the ON push button will become NO to NC, thereby
providing a latch to hold the main contactor coil activated which eventually maintains the control circuit active even after releasing the ON push button switch.
When Star Main Contactor closes its contacts, Motor runs and stay connected in STAR until the timer changes its contacts from NC to NO.
Once the time delay is reached its specified time delay, the timer changes its contacts from CLOSE TO OPEN.......meaning the star contactor will energies and delta contactor energises.
A normally close auxiliary contact from both star and delta contactors are also placed opposite of both star and delta contactor coils, these interlock contacts serve as safety switches to prevent simultaneous activation of both star and delta contactor coils so that one cannot be activated without the other deactivated first. Thus, the delta contactor coil cannot be active when the star contactor coil is active, and similarly, the star contactor coil cannot also be active while the delta contactor coil is active.
The control circuit above also provides two interrupting contacts to shut down the motor. The OFF push button switch break the control circuit and the motor when necessary. The thermal overload contact is a protective device that automatically opens the STOP Control circuit in the case when motor overload current is detected by the thermal overload relay, this is to prevent burning of the motor in case of excessive load beyond the rated capacity of the motor is detected by the thermal overload relay.
At some point during starting it is necessary to change from a star connected winding to a delta connected winding. Power and control circuits can be arranged to this in one of two ways - open transition or closed transition.

It would be more helpful to your viewers if you name the terminals you’re connecting the wires to as to saying here and here. We can’t really see the names of the terminals and not all contractors have the same terminal arrangements. Really helpful content regardless 👍👍

why STAR contactor latch first and then and the MAIN contactor? It is the same if they start together. What is the reason for making the STAR contactor to latch first and then the MAIN contactor. Thank you
The main contactor didn't disconnect, suppose delta only run the motor

What is the problem when the main and the star are on and when trying to change over, they both switch off and the delta is not picking ?
Your circuit is wrong! What you have done is suppling control circuit from the timer NC, that's why the circuit runs in star but when the count down is done the entire circuit goes off.
Not that the Timer only should control star and delta contactors but not the main.
Your circuit should work in this configuration, When start button is pressed , the timer and star contactor should come on and then main contactor after the timer count down star contactor should go off without causing any problem then the delta come in.

Hello there, I have question to ask you about star delta starter is possible to connect with single phase or to setup with single phase?
No....... and its because star-delta only used on the high loaded motor. when the motor is driving a big load it draws a lot of currents, that why we can't start it with DIRECT ONLINE it can blow easily.
single phase motor is rated low. there is no need to start them with star delta.

Hello sir..are the interlock auxiliary connections reaally important if your sure of the circuit
Yes very important, safety is important for equipment and the operators. Here is why it. for the STAR DELTA case assuming the star contactor fail mechanically in the closed mode, Delta contactor still ENGAGE if your circuit isn't interlocked, but if interlocked even with a mechanical failure the Delta won't ENGAGE. it can only run Delta or Star but not both at same time.

There are some contactors like the joy which do not have normal closed terminal where do you connect when u want to connect the star to the main contactor in ur wiring diagram
There is auxiliary contact that is hooked either on the top or sides of the contactor. Avery type of contactor big or small has that capability.

I will make a video soon but let me explain something.........let me say we have 3 indicator lights for STAR, DELTA AND MAIN the purpose of the 3 lights is to indicate if the contactor is ENGAGED or NOT, Each of those light is to be connected to A1 and the NEUTRAL of each contactor. such that star contactor will come ON and OFF with its light....... op that helps...

Contactors have specification sticker on them which bares all the rating information, just like electrical devices.

How many seconds do you adjust the timer on before switching from star to Delta
That normally can depend on the number of factors that ill discuss incoming video but 10-15seconds for most stuation can do.
@@electreca1 ok,so how many Amps are those contactors
Sizing the contactor is entirely depends on the current demand of the load
For example, if your motor draws 15Amps then you would give it a contactor of 30Amps but I don't really see a 30A contactor, therefore, 45Amps is good for a 15A motor.

The star contactor engages first, then the main contactor.... and to achive this ...the coil wire of the main contactor should go through the NO of the star contactor such that when the Star closes it's contact the Main contactor engages also...............op that helps
