    Yeah we're actually not 100% sure we will have nav speeds for thrust flight anymore. Due to comments made by Yogi on A1's discord on the flight model channel on the 5th Dec. My feeling is that there has been some mis-communication but he seemed to be saying that there will no longer be nav like speed and everything under thrust will be limited to SCM speeds...all the time. Again. There seems to be 2 stories on this as this would mean that weapons would be available during quantum boost, which would be useless as I'm sure steering will be very limited. We do need clarification and I've seen a few threads but no dev has seen fit to clarify. Lots to think about though. And great video as usual dude. o7

      I saw that. But I’m reluctant to report on something that a CIG dev said on any non official platform. Especially knowing the histories some of them (including Yogi) have with saying stuff in discords and social media 😅

      I don't know how they allow this type of crappy communication to happen. Yogi seems the worst at it - for the most important piece of this game. If they remove NAV speeds totally - The team doesn't deserve to design they game. IF That's what they have decided - it's time to end the "Yogi Era"

      @@TheSpaceCoder Flying at 250 feels boring and slow. I don’t PVP, so no dog in that fight. Just from a fly around the verse perspective. Current SCM speeds are not a fun flying experience. The environment is too large to go so slowly.

    My personal gripe with MM is how wide sweeping and non specific they were. Lots of ship variants that should handle differently have the exact same. Like how an Avenger Titan has the exact same handling as a Warlock and Stalker, which you might expect to(and used to) have better straight line speeds due to their specialized roles. As of 4.0 PTU, theyre still the exact same. Stuff like that id expected to have been refined with a couple months of MM implementation, not almost a year and still no update

    If they end up with a locked in 250 flight speed. I may pack it up and move on. I primarily played this to fly. I don’t PVP. Flying isn’t fun at that speed. It doesn’t even feel like flying.

    With speed limits baked into the flight model, the whole flee and chase thing is stupid. You can just decouple, max speed, and just rotate to fire while "fleeing". It's just useless because the other ship can just do the same. End of the day, if an interceptor has higher top speed than a prospector, you can't flee without quantum jumping.

    CIG - Especially this flight team is terrible at communication AND listening to feedback. | They are going in the wrong direction; they are stubborn and dishonest about the reasons why (server performance and AI ships).
    To limit flight to 200-300 NO MATTER WHAT - implies that they do not want ships to reach above those speeds EVER, even with custom "Tier 5" components. If this is true, they have truly lost their way.
    I hope to see an end to the Yogi Era if this happens. They Need to Allow us to balance Armor, Speed, and Guns, giving light fighters something to do, and not REMOVE the ability to cruise a planet at NAV speeds. Role Play and Survival depend on that as well.

    While I do agree that all of your proposals are viable and beneficial, they address a problem that isn't baked into the final product. Right now we have lawful and lawless systems, BUT, both are still effectively null-sec. Stanton will eventually have a security response which changes the whole issue. As is, this problem is a "take it or leave it" feature of Pyro. It's only a problem where we shouldn't have to deal with elevated risk, which is Stanton.

    Non combat ships should always have some minimal ability to defend itself

      You would think that by 2954 they would have come to that conclusion centuries ago and AI/automated self defence systems, or pilot controlled weapons/turrets, capable of deterring fighters, at a minimum, would be a reality and a necessity on any non-combat ship.

    Scrap it all and go back to pre-master modes combat. It needed refining but was the best space combat ever implemented in a game. So much so it’s what X4 are going for in their flight model update.
    They literally had the best space combat ever created, scrapped it and now it’s one of the worst. I left elite for SC superior flight model and now elites is unironically better.

    Nobody has said we can maintain control of direction of travel. That's 100% speculation. There are rumors that it in fact will only be in a straight line. But either way we do not know if we can change direction. Also they have stated in the offical video from IAE that nav mode will now be moving at scm speeds in the future. So all this speculation about interceptors is not valid.

    For me those changes mean only one thing: I will loose any and all way to run away. Which will mean that 9/10 encounters with other players are a death sentence.
    Which will boil down to me probably moving on from SC and go back to Elite or X4 ...

      I don't think that's an accurate prediction. The TTK is REALLY high right now. If we CAN in fact make our ships faster through crafting and upgrades. You'll be able to make your ship literally in-catchable.

      @@serrethindustries9468 I fly mainly Prospectors and Vultures ... If they can shoot while in Nav-Mode, you're dead. No way around it. Without weapons you can keep running and the followers get bored and leave you be ... but with this change you have no chance to run. And even when they introduce QT Boost, they will have caught up to you before that damn thin has spooled while you're sitting there without shields.

    I'd like to see some more unarmed ships maybe with insano shields for defense instead of guns. Don't know why i feel this but the variation would be cool...
