Drove for 3 doors down for nearly 10 years...doing nearly every tour there did in Europe...there were great lads and a good band.......loved working with them....
This song was released in ‘02 when 9/11 was still very fresh in every American heart. I was a 17yr old girl in high school in the process of joining the Army and this song was all I listened to during that time. It encouraged me when I had doubts, took the fear away when I was scared about the training I was about to go through, lifted the weight of the the significance of what I was signing my life up for for at least 6 years and most of all, it made me feel honored that I could make the choice to serve our country! This song is still a favorite of mine and now my kids love it, too! ❤️🇺🇸✌🏼
This song is a Gut Punch to me. I have 9 years at sea time, on 14 different aircraft carriers. I didn't think anything about it until my kids told me that for half of their lives I was gone. That hit me hard, unfortunately it still has an effect, as my son and I have no report, no closeness. It even has effected the grandkids. My wife has had my back for 42 years, so that's good. Not trying to bum you out, just pointing out the other side.
Thank you. I realize some never understand the true sacrifice some make. Glad you had a strong, steady partner. Hope your son comes along. Not all are capable of critical and deep appreciation/thinking, when younger. I in no way intend to disrespect you or your son. In fact, my intention is the exact opposite. My father was Marine Corp. By the time I was 3 years old, you could bounce a quarter on my made bed, and I could do 25 pushups. We fell out, as I grew up, and fell back in, a time or two. I love you, Daddy. Thank you to my father, and everyone else, who makes the adult sacrifices for their country and/or loved ones.💖
I've seen 3 Doors Down a couple of times, never disappoint .. and love the way they support our military service men and women. This song will definitely tear at your heartstrings - fantastic reaction S&M!!
I'm a 22+ year Navy vet and I do very much appreciate your words, plus I want this song played on my behalf when I'm gone. I just want to point out that I always stop when I see someone holding a "vet in need" type of sign and question them. Nine times out of ten I figure out in the first couple of sentences that these people are not vets and never served a day in their lives. There is much help out there for vets, both government and private so rather than hand them money refer them to one these of organizations. Giving them money is usually feeding a drug and/or alcohol addiction.
Omg memories my mom absolutely loved this song and put me onto the band three doors down . She asked that this be played at her funeral when she passed. I think of her whenever I hear it.
There is no other voice like Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down😌...I have literally worn out not only this CD but all of their stuff...not a bad song anywhere...in thus particular song it's like they are letting the people in uniform know, that even though life touring and creating the music we love is hard work...it still pales to the sacrifices the troops make...Brad's voice and the band just bring it home! This group is a deep rabbit hole but it's absolutely 💯 percent worthy of it!!!!
I was onboard USS George Washington for this concert. 1999-2003. I got to hang out with them after the show. Great guys. I still have the camo shirt that they autographed for me. Great memory.
This song came out before a 6 month deployment and I had to leave my newlywed wife behind, while my ship was deployed in the Persian Gulf. It was hard to love this song at the time. With perspective and time, I appreciate this song and more importantly, 3DD for their unwavering support of our Military. Sucks though, they came to my ship CVN 73, Gdub, right after I got out! This song definitely means a lot to me.
Taking my brother back to the airport after his 2weeks of R&R. He said he didn’t expect to come back from Iraq. That was tough to leave him there. We met up in German for New Years 2006. That was a blast. Almost got him kicked out I guess. Possibly the only reason was he was so short term it didn’t matter.
Such a great song, band and video. Thanks for the heartfelt reaction! I had a good friend who is almost 20 years younger than me that enlisted after 9/11 and served two tours in Iraq. He squad was hit by an RPG doing house to house sweeps, the 2 soldiers in front of him died and he was severely injured. The physical injuries healed but the mental ones didn't. He did ok for a while after his return but with the help of an opioid dependence fueled by military doctors he eventually went off the deep end and lost his marriage, his kids and any semblance of stability. I haven't been able to talk to or even locate him to this day and it breaks my heart. This video makes me tear up to this day.
I have ALWAYS loved this band and this song. I never realized how it related to our service men and women leaving their families. It really puts my often trivial complaints into perspective.
This one always gets me emotional being a retired military man myself I got out just before the gulf war and wished I had gone to be with my unit but it wasn't my time salute to all the men and women in uniform.
People should live their lives like they do in the Military. Color or race doesn't matter. You are all united by one common thing. You depend on whoever is covering your back, black, white or asian, etc... Love is the answer ! 🖤🤍🙏
I know those emotions exactly when you leave family to go on deployment. I had to leave my son twice to go on deployment and forward deployed to Japan for 2 years. It’s tough. I will never forget those times.
The thing about this song is even if you're not American(like me), you still have the military of your own country and you can feel the emotions of this song
Loved your reaction. Regardless of what people think of our military and what is and was going on they still have wife’s, husbands and kids they have to leave behind.
I love this country so much. I have so many military and law enforcement in my family and am I wrong to say that this country isn't racist or sexist or anything except for land of opportunities for all people? I know there are bad apples and bad people but I try to see the best in people and you will get better from them. I know hundreds of folks from my city in the South and there are all races and folks from around the world and I love every one of them. America is the best country and you won't convince me otherwise! God bless you guys and God Bless America.
Hey guys....new here to your channel.....really enjoy watching yall. This song is so powerful. This band has always been one of my favorites. I don't listen to alot of stuff after the 70's and 80's, but this is one band that I actually love. Please check out, if you already haven't, the video for The Road I'm On by 3 Doors Down....it's awesome....lots of energy and lots of fun. Peace out and love yall
I served in the Navy for 11 years, and completed 6 deployments including 2 combat deployments, and I can tell you it sucks to watch your loved ones on the pier as the ship starts moving away to go out to sea for anywhere from 6 months to a year before you get to see them again, or they get to see you again, this is a small part of the sacrifices that our service members and their families make to keep us free.
These always hit home, thankyou two for sharing the message of we are all in this together and those that protect us deserve our respect and help in return
4:27 That is a F-14 Tomcat! One of the baddest strike fighter planes that ever existed. Unfortunately the United States military don't use them anymore. It costs too much $$$
Lost 2 Uncles on U.S.S. Arizona they rest there still. My dad served in Germany my papaw served in WW2 Lost my uncle Jimmy to Agent Orange the home he was in didn't contact us when he passed away he was thrown into a potter's field in Flat woods Ky. The grass is up to my knees broken stones of people buried there i can't believe they did that to a veteran disposed of like a sack of trash. DISGRACEFUL.
26 years, 9 months and 18 days of service. 11 of those years were spent in the SOF community on two different units within JSOC/SOCOM during the GWOT era. Was involuntarily discharged due to the new administration’s policy on certain flu viruses. Did a lot, saw a lot, the evil I saw showed me that God really does exist. As angry as I still am about being out bad, I’d do it all again ten minutes ago if I could. Death in the process of defending God, Country and family brings no bigger welcome into the gates of Heaven. I know this song and video and reaction is a little old, but I still revisit the soundtrack from my life that seems like a lifetime ago. Be well 🙏🇺🇸

ummmm.. that's interesting... the United States Navy has 11 aircraft carriers.. I am a 20 yr Navy veteran and I'm throwing the Bullshit flag!
Hey Folks .. don't be fooled by phonies..................... If you made it through bootcamp .. you would know this guy is full of shit............

That concert was done on a real ship for the troops. God bless our military families and of course, the troops. 🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸

Thank you for your service
Thank you for your service ma’am. ❤️❤️🔥🔥💯💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🍻🍻
Early 2000s radio rock is one of my guilty pleasures. So many catchy songs.
No shame in that brother

I respect this man for putting his heart into this song and people in general don’t appreciate until somebody is gone

Saw these guys in concert and they sound just like this like no bull
No bull is right!
It was ironic seeing this on my son's birthday while he serves in the Navy on the USS Ronald Reagan. He makes us proud for his sacrifice to country!!

Feed troops of other countries.

My son is Air Force. He deploys to the Middle East in October. My stomach hurts just thinking about it. Great song though!!
Tell your son thank you for his service. Wish I could shake his hand and tell him myself. May God watch over him and bring him back home safe.
