I tried to get the NHS crisis team to visit my now ex, when he was abusive to me, paranoid and talking about offing me to cure his insomnia. they wouldn't see him they flat out refused to get off their bums and do anything. a online friend of mine who's now ex husband was also crazy managed to get a nurse to see him but only by threatening them with court action if they didn't. her ex thought his entire family had been replaced by CIA spies and was threatening to off their children.

It has come in as a result of the discredited but continually peddled “Prevent” agenda which tries to stop people being radicalised into terrorism through early interventions. Basically it didn’t work because Muslim people were upset about being under observation so the authorities tried to assure them by saying no no there are all these far right people we need to watch as well so we’re not singling out Muslims! So it looks as though this is a consequence. Prove to should be scrapped but they don’t have an alternative plan which people have built careers out of. Meanwhile so many people with mental health problems aren’t getting basic treatment because the system is under- resourced. Add radical Islam to the mix and that is probably why we are seeing so many religiously motivated attacks by people who are clearly rather unhinged (not the medical term!). Much as people are culpable for their actions in most cases, violence in general would be reduced significantly if there was better mental health care. Drug use and offending linked to drug use, including robbery, would also go down. It sounds soft to many on the Right but it is important to note.

This is the second time I have heard of people getting in trouble for someone over hearing a privite conversation. There was a student on a phone call with a friend saying he disagreed with vegans.
