This is the right attitude. Once a person is in the armed forces , his/her religion is Indian and his/her God is the commoners of India .Anything which shows his religious identity should not be allowed.
But if you will survey you will get most of the police stations in india having Mandir within the compound and Puja being held everyday. What is your take on it?

Sir I was a student of osmania had L.L.M degree was procured under prof.GC venkatasubharao ,dean. Somewhere in 1968 to 17. I had a close study of Islamic law management and was a executive in insurance. I wrote many articles,one such being on the unity of Muslims irrespective of maslaks. My study showed lack of sincerety and organizational ability. I find one more thing what I felt was absence of a muslim lobby among the muslim states and community to fight Islamophobia. So many muslim countries should have a common platform to fight Islamophobia to educate those who Insult islam by politely beliving such elements with soft knowledge and inviting such elements in Friday congregations and inviting them in Hajj congregations to understand the true sense of islam. In india too they need for such lobby. Instead we are reacting seriously, blindly and madly. There is a need for wisdom but I doubt we act more on emotions rather than wisdom and diplomacy. I hope muslim intellengecia will seriously consider this by youngsters like u since I am feeling older in the age of 85 .

Police and Army is not meant to be religiously biased or expected to showoff any religious signs as display of his core beliefs. Religion becomes secondary when you wear uniform and to look uniform is a mandatory obligation.
ohhh what a great thought if Sikhs grow bread and were pagadi in police and army it looks uniform in your eye
That's an exception. Sikhs have never given up for their beard or hair under any circumstances and its a mandatory rule every sikh follows since inception of their religion. This mandate was accepted even during British raj era and Sikhs community was recognised to serve in all national uniform services with their beard, moustache and kesh, even after independence.
While the norms for all other religions remaining the same even today.
I am not against keeping the beard but my point is if your work requires you to be uniform with your team in all aspects then it must be respected. Police and Armed forces are serious jobs and requires discipline and uniformity and these jobs are strictly religion neutral.

मेरा व्यक्तिगत विचार यह है कि इस मुद्दे को धार्मिक दृष्टिकोण से नहीं देखा जाना चाहिए, सैनिक और अर्धसैनिक बलों का आधार अनुशासन और एकरूपता होता है और अनुच्छेद 33 में धार्मिक स्वतंत्रता पर युक्तियुक्त प्रतिबंध भी आरोपित किए गए हैं।
दूसरी बात धार्मिक स्वतंत्रता का अधिकार एक मौलिक अधिकार है और मौलिक अधिकारों की व्याख्या उच्चतम न्यायालय करता है धर्माचार्य नहीं करते, हर धर्म के धर्म आचार्य पूर्वाग्रह मानसिकता से युक्त होते हैं और उसी के आधार पर वह व्याख्या करते बहुत से ऐसे धार्मिक ग्रंथ हैं जिनमें महिलाओं के उत्पीड़न को जोर शोर से मान्यता दी गई है जैसे बाल विवाह , बहु विवाह, सती प्रथा, पर्दा प्रथा , हलाला तो क्या इन पर धर्म आचार्यों की राय ली जाएगी, किसी भी धर्म की धार्मिक भावना संविधान की भावना से ऊपर नहीं है इसलिए जैन धर्म में प्रचलित कुरीति संथारा और सल्लेखना को भी सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने असंवैधानिक बताया है ।
क्योंकि अनुच्छेद 33 में सैनिक और अर्धसैनिक बलों के जवानों के मौलिक अधिकारों पर युक्ति युक्त प्रतिबंध आरोपित किए गए हैं क्योंकि मौलिक अधिकारों मैं धार्मिक अधिकार भी शामिल है
